When a bike is new or your brakes are not working. You run up and down the road getting the brake nice and hot and throw a bucket of water on them. One brake at a time. works a treat. I saw a world champ doing this on a brand new bike is how I `learned` the trick.

I think you need a better mechanic. The beta`s used to have the worst brakes thru 1999. Since the rev 3 came out they have been fine.

Blocky had the best advise without being there. If you are running 5 or less, two things will happen. You will be worn out sooner and have a flat. It would have to be real wet to be down to 5.

The pro`s are available, but not the older bikes.

Sounds like it was put there on purpose. A lot of equipment manufactures put them in there products. A former owner/mechanic probably did it. In fact Gas Gas should put them in all the Pro`s kick start side case!

Going back to the last 20 minute period that over heated, was the fan running the whole time? When the fan goes bad, sometimes it starts and sometimes it don`t.

Chris, you should reply to Jon on the Boyesen reed post on what jets you found. Also verify what carb you have. It should be the VHST (flat slide), but the jetting you have is off for any that I remember.

I would think being a new bike that something was missing from the factory. You have checked the parts diagram for all parts? I have seen several bikes come with missing parts and or defective parts.

It is not a matter of it leaking, it has to be able to breathe. What happened to your post about jet size?

Oh, I always loved the wheelies. I`ve been in trouble many times for my antics. Just think the sit down wheelie on the modern cheaply built bikes is a waste.

It is possible to over pack a silencer, you might try riding without the silencer.

Hey Chris, have you ever considered the exhaust could be plugged up?

Dad`s are always in a hurry to make the kids a better rider. My son went thru many new bikes. In the end it was more about myself wanting my son to excel. Just let him ride the 50 until he is ready to ride the full size 80. Keep the `fun` in riding is more important than the competition at that age.

Jon, it sure sounds like the idle circuit is plugged up. He has like 5 different posts going on.
