I wish more folks would tell them to shove it! Should have happened a couple years back!
-
some jus cap it off, as the one coming off the bottom of bowl is nothing but a slosh and overflow tube.
Many carbs do not use this, do as you like withit!
-
This topic has been raised on a number of occasions over the years, as the fuel tanks seem to expand over time and no longer want to fit the hole they were desighned to go in! Yes, I have had this issue too over the years and it seems something of a difficult issue.
I have had to deal with it in various ways over time, as on my '07 bike by elongating the slot at the rear of the tank to accomodate the bolt and trimming the mudguard as well.
I estimate a growth of 8mm or so in length, and no real measure of girth, yet things were tight at one point on the sides.
I have always related this th the alcohol induced fuels, yet who knows?
Well, about three months ago I went back to the 100% avgas mix(no alcohol) if nothing else but the fall climate and the better long term storage properties for the winter months, as I have not been getting out much lately and have just been putting about my little area in the yard and such. Fact is bike has sat for the month due to other obligations, so I go to start it up over the weekend and notice a few things.
Firstly, it don't want to start, which is not unusual, as I can tell you even the best fuel goes "off" laying in the bowl of the carb and all the high aeromatics evaporating off through the vents! It does not take long for this to happen. Thankfully a Sherco is simple, and I just remove a few screws for mudguard and airbox to give it a fresh shot of carby cleaner to light things off! Yea, that works! Weather is cold so gotta let it run a bit on the choke and let the stale stuff out, but biggest thing was the FIT, going back!
Tank just drops in, mudguard now has a big gap because tank has shrunk, and things are basically back to new proportions! Boggles the mind!

As stated! Try riding in second gear using the clutch to feel for traction, reguardless of rpm.
They do still seem to have a pretty good midrange hit that you can learn to use to advantage when needed.
If it is still too quick for you, might back off the timing just a bit.
-
All I can say is it does happen on occasion, yet does not seem as prone as the Beta's.
Electronice are a wonderfull thing when they work! Even Spanish electronics!
Reports from Motoplat Steve state it is usually the hall effect sensors that go, and truth be known thay are probably all made in Tiawan!
-
Soo true! Pay off anything costing you interist money! Highest rate first!
Ironic, I actually had a credit card company fire me after about 15 years of service! I paid them in full every month, used their money for my convenience and at no charge to me, other that the occasion I wanted to spread a charge out over a couple months!
They were easily replaced!
Mind you this requires a steadfast intent to stay out of debt of most anything you cannot afford!
-
Yes, it is "ground" or "grounds", plural! Yet at the same time I have been around here long enough to know!
Fact is, even I seem to recall some vehicles thet were Positive ground, but cannot recall which! The term "observe proper polarity" still comes to mind!
I think everything in Austrailia works that way, including compasses and toilets, everything works backwards! Seems in the UK it is just the roads!
-
Got mine and agree it is excellent!
I will also mention the fact that if you have not got the one from John "Bigfoot" Hird, you are missing out!
Some really nice camera work from him this year, nice blend of music too!
Much more detail of the sections, as I am starting to feel I almost know all the rocks in many due to this! And also know not to attempt it!
Found the snippit at the end! He needs to put the "PG" or "Mature" rating on, a bit of surprise!
"I like the description "mature" ha ha!"

Ish, Numbers are as follows:
The average number of riders at the 6 Texas State Trials Championship events in 2011 was 66. The best attended even had 82 and the least had 58. 103 different riders rode at least one State Championship event.

I suppose the temp could have something to do with it providing you still have a firm but lesser lever. This being a bit unusual.
Might ck to insure the lever pin that pushes the master cyl. is not set too tight and there is slight clearance to allow full return of the M/C piston which opens the small port and allows more fluid in if it contracts, or out if is expands(which is the normal case with heat)
Bottom line, the piston must return fully in the m/c for the port to open, and grunge under the little rubber could cause something like that in theory?
-
I have heard the term "we don't want Hitler observers" used on a number of occasions.
Well, trust me, in the stricktest sense of no-stop, it can get nasty on a brief bounce back or a momentary plant of the front wheel to swing the rear, them spokes have stopped turning round, even if the rest of the bike is rotating round it.
Fact is it don't bother me a bit to bust butt on the top riders even, as I like handing out points! It is all this piddle stuff about that kills me! I'll hand every one of them a 5 foe hesitating to enter the section if that is the game of the day. Sorta like the "gate trials" where one dab is a bust!
-
Good! We need you for an observer!
-
A friend recently got one of the Supers HERE is My link
So hope for some time in it soon!
-
HaHa! That is fantastic! Just goes to show what that little Cub will actually do!
It IS a show, and on the edge, but these guys know what they do very well. Ironic, I recall seeing a similar routine at a very young age at the first airshow I ever witnessed probably back in the 60's.
I would never try anything that extreme intentionally, yet I have had to make some landings in some really bad winds! On One Wheel! And the reality of the situation demands near perfect control to the limits of the aircraft! THIS gives one a perspective on what it WILL and CAN do! The rest is up to you, as it is going to come down eventually, either under control or not, and to an extent, that is where pilotage must take over the controls! Thus scenes such as this are something of a reinforcement to ones doubts! Just do it!
-
Well good you got some sorting done and hopefully some warranty onit. Steve at Motoplat UK is the one who fixes these things and has a good reputation it seems, yet as anything electronic, crap happens!

Just for the sake of discussion and comparison I thought I would throw up the recently released schedule for the upcoming year in the Texas State Champ rounds.
Yes, there are a lot of Classes, yet other than the very young on pushbikes and small wheel (Cadet), it breaks down to three lines of difficulty for the AM riders, then another three for the PM riders(which may overlap), and as we have no volunteer observers per se, many are chosen to score for the opposing group. Simple as mud!

Just asa whotsit, I will tell you that I normally make gear selections on any bike while rolling a bit and feeling for a positive click up or down, as it just allows the mechanism to work better, specially on a 1-2 shift, as one does not want to find less than a full engagement halfway through a section. But that is usually a non issue, as with rare exception, most sections you can pre select the desired gear and never change it. They all require some rotation of the gear elements to fully lock into position at times as things do not always line up while stationary. A dragging clutch just applies pressure when not wanted or needed, and makes things difficult to move, with cold weather and thick oil being a culprit here as well. Get some heat into the motor and gearbox, takes a while of running sometimes, as there is little other than clutch slippage that heats the gear oil up to a normal temp one might find in summer months!

What he is asking is "you did remove the factory pedal stops(metal things) as it tells you in the install instructions, did you not?"
-
I am not big on Kuntry, but there is some good music there, as it is not what it was many years ago!
Word of the day is Taylor Swift! She is still young, but fantastic in many ways, and the real deal!
Pity I cannot find a decent post because I already know the VEVO content will not work there, so you gotta do your own searchwork. Heard she won the Country Music Assoc. top award this year for entertainer of the year! Well deserved I think. Nothing radical here, just good music and voice, and lyrics.
-
Remove the mag side cover and dry it as well.
-
I have not tried it, but it sounds logical, Jon. Do you think we should tell him?

I don't think much anything in trials has been americanized! As stated, the NATC seems to follow the WTC rules, then the clubs may or may not follow. Any club can do whatever they like on a given day, which is fine if they decide to do something different. Same guys still win, for the most part.
I have said it before and I will say it again, I am old, I cannot hop worth nothing anyway, so hopping is a non issue, the pros who can still apply it at no stop, just move ever so slightly which makes calls difficult as they are very dynamic in their action. Myself, I am like a good dog, and like to leave my mark in every section!
Sometimes I just hesitate after creeping round some full lock turn then looking up at a three foot hill with a two foot log sitting on top! Takes me a moment to suck up the balls! OK, I get a five for the clean ride because I am a dufus!
I feel like little Johnny on his moped! Jesus, Johnny cant you keep rolling? You littlt ****, keep going!
This ain't Scotland, and we don't have flowing burn sections, point and go lad!
Once again, this is where a 5 for stop becomes too harsh. I may be back, but little Johnny on his moped may not. Johnny can find better **** to do on his moped without the grief!
What's the matter Johnny, says dad. Was there anything there your moped could not ride? "No", states Johnny, but the judjes are a lot o' pricks! Gimmie a 5 on everything when my moped farted! Let's go play the mini-golf dad! It is more fun than moped farts!

Oh my! Never really thought about this, but it makes sense, as on the Rev 4t when you openthe throttle, you do not really open the throttle. You are only opening the throttle valve which must move near a full 90 deg I think, and the change in opening is proportionatly less at increased openings, thus the ramp style to accomodate.
With a liniar tube, you will have smaller changes at higher openings, yet not sure how much difference it will make at smaller openings, or just how much you will have to twist to get full throttle?
