    No Spark

Dan has some interisting theory there, which may be true! As I am not quite sure which component it is that fails normally on the Beta later ignitions, I was wondering if you have been able to confirm anything with a tester such as Steve, I believe at UK Motoplat , As he seem to find fixes for all these things, he may be able to provide confirmation on your theory or add additional info?
  2. You see, Zippy, you are loved! Go for it! If you book early, you can get a cabin at TTC!
  3. And what does Al do with the acid?
  4. Looks to me like someone spray painted his car, then he tried getting it off using the remover! Once he realized how it works?

    Flywheel

I have not heard of a removable flyweight on the 3.2? And if there was, I would not remove it!
  6. Here is a ref piccie of the SPS setup! Sent from a friend!
  7. I gotta work Saturday, and since I am not contending the series this year, cannot do KS, just not worth taking a trade to get off Friday and Sat! Add about 15 hrs of drive time and motels, just too much! I will miss it! That bike is the best deal around, and though I want it, the 2.9 is running fine and you just need kids to understand the rest! MC
  8. As a sidenote, the '09 bikes ARE coming with a rubber low point drain valve thingy in the airbox! I have not yet found out if these are made available to retrofit older bikes, yet ! Not a bad thing to have. Yet an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
  9. I think you can drive yourself mad tuning these things, as they do change with the weather, and you must develop an ear for the settings! Most the pros like them for the added power, let them run a bit rich for quick response off. I rode Smages new '09 2.9 with his V-force and Kiehin setup last weekend. It runs great, smooth, responsive and way too much for me under normal clubman level. How do you brits put it? Horses for courses? Not that you never have to tweak a Dellorto, we get wide temp swings here, so seem neccessary, just not as much. And the bike will still run in most cases, just not perfectly. You see, there are some who never notice, it seems! Just set it and run it!
  10. Not quite sure what conditions you are describing here, yet may be what I call the throttle chop "ping"! There are two small passages in the bore of the carby that you want to be sure are clean as well, the second is the transition circuit. Operates off the pilot jet. Long story made short, not sure which pilot jet you are on, but you may consider an increase to find a change. I am on a #36 in the Sherco and still find a ping, am going to try the #38 to see how it does. Mine runs smooth otherwise, and some of this I may attribute to the alcohol blend fuels we have now, which I cannot avoid it seems.
  11. Good post there from Shercoholic, So as I follow, stupidly, I read that when assembling, the brass thingie goes into the tube first, with the holes toward the slide side, then the spring, then the jet? Then gently install bowl? Float level bacially with arm paralell at the 45 tilt? Having a chance to ride the '09 4T last weekend, it ran flawlessly, started first kick after warm. I tried to stall it, did not happen, although the tickover was set a bit on the high side, much like a Mont and I did not change it. Yet would still chug down low in third gear where a Mont will not, and still yank your arms off when you crack it, this thing rips! I must say that I really had no probs on the standard carb on the '08 to begin with, am still uncertain about the physics of the SPS thing and if it is neccessary or just an added plus for certain circumstances when riders forget they are on a 4T? May cure the occasional spitback! Also had a chance to ride the '08 Scorps 4T with the pumper carby, much less of the bottom than the Sherco, very gentile actually till it comes on the power, which is MUCH, could not manage to kill it either. Always a good sign.
  12. A lot depends upon exactly what you are doing with the bike. A flap made of duct tape on the inside of the mudguard acts as a good deflector, and a strip along the side of the mudguard to airbox helps in a really wet event. Cover holes in mudguard. Seems in most case, more water gets in when washing the bike than when riding. I inadvertantly put mine in a deep section of creek crossing last week, water up over the basic engine cases, had to slow down as not to surge the water too much while battling the rocks, nearly got really ugly, yet no water in the box!
  13. Yea, and it's a wonder we did'nt get just a close up of the tire , were you still using the fill flash in that one? It looks really good, without shadowing on the face or being too bright and unnatural. As there is some shadowing from the flash in the first one of Donna, you see. I would think it almost unavoidable considering the light angle in the shot. Makes her stand out , though! You see, for me, packing the D40 in a bum bag whild riding a course is enough, as I simply cannot manage an additional flash unit with tilt/bounce, just too bulky. I think the built in flash is quite good, yet there only seems to be a certain range that it is effective without being overpowering up close.
  14. Now THAT is science! Get close , wide angle, pan a bit, and CLICK just at the front wheel crosses the big boobs! Perfect! Depth of field on a good day is a wonderful thing!
  15. Oops, now you've done it! Not many have even seen this SPS thing! If you are not sure which way it came apart, maybe RLracer will pick up on this thread, or you might PM him, he has one sitting there, I know he was into it, not sure how far. So did the brass thingie and spring just fall out of the tube after removing the main jet?

    Fan Woes(again)

As Ishy said, things to ck. I seem to recall a fellow with a similar condition on a 4t recently, said the regulator fixed it as I recall, obviously shunting off too much voltage at low revs? Just a thought!
  17. You Beta riders are such tightwads! And YES, I did pay Hogan the $10 parking fee for the two days in camp, well worth it, he is such a great guy!
  18. Can you really do 10 or 12, still?
  19. Na, just a good (how to spell) pilferer/ plagonist? My kind of fellow! Obviously much more well read than myself, who can never find jokes clean enough to post!
  20. Not to change the topic, but ! I think on the 4T's a bit of light oil in the carby slide bore may be recommendable as they basically run dry! Logic dictates that this may make them more succeptable to sticking with any grit or stuff that may bypass the filter!
  21. You see, there is still a person out there that needs a car with REAL balls! And you just cannot find that in an Audi! The girls just like a little rumble in the seat!
  22. Is that not the real deal? Scammers? CEO's? I think what we really need is a new revolution to reclaim our lost 401k's from them scammers, a WITCH hunt! Take their money and burn them at the stake! Bunch of scammers the lot! aLL WITH FAT POCKETS!
  23. I will tell you in advance that there is a strong roumor that Texas will indeed hold another national in '09. We usually have a good turnout, centrally located. At least, fuel prices are down, yet the developing economic situation may effect a few folks. I have mixed feelings myself, and we may see things done a bit differently from past years. And yes, the sponsoring clubs do need to profit, as it is all recycled into the sport! We shall see as things develop! Most just want something to ride!
