You mean to tell me there is actually still something made here? Or there for that matter?
Surely not the case, I thought we exported all the jobs!
The number chrunchers had it all planned, along with the bankers! Ha! Whilest the toppers are taking their millions and billions!
Go figure!
But if the euro drops a bit, I could get a new bike within the next decade!
-
That seems correct, as the 2.5 head is a different part number. I still like the 2.5 much, although one was not available when I got the current 2.9, I can well live with a 2.9 with a proper dellorto and the Boyesens.
We did some comparisons a few weeks ago with a '08 Beta 270 and mine is much gentler off the bottom. Greater mid hit it seems. A Beta will chug lower it seems, they seem to have a bit more flywheel.
I have ridden the 300Gassers, the "torque pig"! It works too. Sounds like a fun bike to ride.
You do realize which side of the "I cannot do what they do on 125's" POWER CURVE you are on now, don't you?
-
No, I don't think I have missed any of it. I think Craig is jerking you off with that Series BS, and Yes, he has been practicing!
I just offered to be the fair holder of the bit of escrow! My account is the same (at)verizon.net and waiting for a commitment (Craig). I would not even waste the trip if I were you, untill he commits!
The rest stays in Vegas!

Naw, the Indians are not Muslem, they are Hindu or Buddist I think, different totally, and why they don't like the Pak's! They will likely blow each other up, shortly!
-
I hear what you are saying Jay, And don't want to seem the bitchey role as I am a total outsider now. Being fully adapted to mod bikes, even at my poor mid level and old age, you see I simply have come to the conclusion that even though fun it may be, the entire concept of sustainability, ill handling old overweight stuff is just too much for me nowadays. Seems your best off on a Yamaha! So be it! That ole Bultaco sitting in the main room at TTC is where it needs to be, last I seen! Just can not handle more headaches or expense to attempt it a few times per year. Stating that, I fully realize there are many old gits that never done anything else than the old ones, many steller riders, I know a one or two!
Too bad you cannot run the Sherdaka!
-
I have not heard from either as a confirmation on the wager. My Paypal account is awaiting the deposits which will be forwarded to the one who makes it the furthest ! I would like to see at least $250 from each, far from the initial $1000 !!!!!
No blood please, just ride! Gentlemen! Drink later and go have a beer together! Some of the cheap crap! like me!
-
Difficult to quantify this over the internet! I would say some light tick may be normal . If your vent was pinched, the cover should be ok otherwise.
Do you have a local dealer that may advise? As we do not know where you are from your profile?
-
I think you lost me there on the thickness thing!
So you did require a mill setup to bore the cases?
-
Are the 7-11's and motels already taken by the Indians?
-
In my days of youth, you would be smoking some bad stuff!
-
Agree with Jon, as rotating does change the angle, but basically they should be be verticle or beyond when viewed from the side it seems. Keeps the weight off the arms too!
My stock bars measure 32inches bar end to bar end toward the rider. I have never known folk to cut more than about 1 in off each end even for the youth riders. You do loose leverage it seems.
-
You are all infidels, you must die!(Sooner or later)!
-
Reports from others :
Check valve lash after run in.
A low tickover may cause engagement of the decompressor on the cam.
Some have reported timing chain rattle and replaced the tensioner it seems, not sure about this as compared to the second issue?
Oh, and something about insuring the vent off the head is not being pinched off! This could cause blowby the gaskets!
-
Dale had a '09 Gasser at the Octobertest, and as I always say hello and chat a bit, one thing that impressed me was the lightness of the clutch pull on the new on sitting there(working the finger while talking), as once again, these things seem to me to vary with each one I ride, I dunno the answer totally, other than the thinner pack, taller finger thing. And if you do not know where yours is at, well? Good thing is that it is adjustable!
-
Dave, I cannot even recall specifically, as I shrugged it all off a number of years ago. One of my buddies that was into that stuff tried to explain some of it to me, things like you can rede a Mont 248 but not a 249 or something, many other bikes excluded. I think a 200 Honda Reflex even is excluded.
Seems the ITSA rules are much simpler, 2 shocks, air cooled, no brakes!
It is even simpler here, where we run a vintage class in the State series(2 shocks)! Still not really enough riders to make any of it worthwhile really.
Seems you guys have the best lot! Have fun, as that is what it is all about!
-
Unfortunately, an intentional omission!
I kinda like'ed the FAT women theory!
The other ones are like a Monty 4T, require too much money, a long warm up, and little return, yet better suspension!
-
I have been a Vee dealer for a couple of years and offered them at a bargain rate, thinking the punters and kids bikes would pick up on them.
They are very good bang for the buck.
The front is very similar to the 801 Dunlop, a bit lower profile then the Mich, very firm sharp and precise without the side flex of the mich. Great on the rocks!
The rear seems much like the dunlop 803 as well, my impression is basically: Dry, good! Mud, as good as any! Grip on wet rocks, lacking as compared to others!
You get what you pay for in an economy tire.
As we ride varied conditions, I cannot fault the dunlops for price or performance, and it does seem I can run the rear at some rediculously low pressures in the slop. I like that!
Due to low demand, I will not keep them in stock any longer, sorry! I want to put the last set on the Serow and run them.
-
I think you are still ok Baldi, not a ghost yet! But pretty much clarifies you pagans position in the muslem world! Add the fact they do not attempt to be politically correct. Mostly cannot separate their politics from religion. What does that leave you with!
-
Hey matey, gone for the top performer have you? They are just ****e-hot! And I am NOT! Probably why I cannot get on with them.
Opinions may vary, but I think you need to leave it alone for a bit and adjust. Not that I like the way that, or the shifter, or the kicker work on them anyway. It is a PRO, I am NOT!
Running the clutch hydroulics through my simple mind tells me that a smaller MC bore would push less fluid per stroke and therefore increase sensitivity to the feel. Maybe I am wrong? The pack thickness is said to vary the progression as much as anything. I do not know, as every one I have ever ridden felt different to me. Ask Peter B what he thinks!
I hope you get on well and do not fall over and flood the thing!

So how much material must come out of the case?
I would take a good 250 top if you find a trade!
-
I am having a good chuckle soo far! Nutter!
-
Fast cars, fast bikes, lots of beer! The rest I wasted!
-
I think Tony has most of it nailed in his post and comments.
It IS unfortunate and true, the comments of the riders seem to agree that trials is still the ******* child of AHRMA. Seems members input have little results! Shame.
Many rediculous rules and such have put me off from going back to the proverbial Roots of trials (and my age group).
Nor(Michael) would it neccessarily mean that flogging your (pig of choice) about the loop would neccessarily be EASY, fact is, it is much easier for me to ride a mod bike which is light and powerful. I can get beat by the kids and not mind. There are no politics, no arguments, no rules of engagement, just ride what you brung.
Having a good time is all mental, I can totally FO, take all the 5's I want, dab when I want and still ride any old POS in any given trial, yho cares? Trials is Trials!

Just as an update, the 38 pilot seems to work well so far in my back yard testing. I was able to take the fuel screw to a range of just less than 2 turns out(optimum 1-3) and transition range ping seems to be gone, yet still smooth.
If you actually look at that fuel screw taper, you can pretty well figure that it is not really doing much after 3 turns out!
Some of this I just cannot explain, never would have thought it, as I have had a number of these bikes over the years and at one point ran the 33 pilots with no problem, yet the motors and the fuel has changed! Oh well, I put off the issue for many months thinking a change from the 36 to a 38 would not make a difference, count me wrong! I am running the Boyesens as well, which are a bit more sensitive it seems, yet smooth off the bottom.
Of course, this type of thing may well vary from bike to bike and carb to carb. But as things go, most are similar with same type, and even a Gasser as compared to the Sherco for that matter. A Dellorto is just that, nothing special but works!
