  1. GOOD response and opens a whole new can of worms. Never thought of that one
  2. Look forward to seeing it Charlie. We still keep skating around the subject. Finding this inuendo or this quotation that sort of suggests ....... Still havent seen evidence of a member of Joe Public riding a Sprite TRIALS bike that is as anybody could buy freely available over the counter prior to 31/12/1964. As in NOT a rebadged Cotton ! then again many a James became a Francis Barnett as there were too many James already entered for the scottish pre65 same with Cottons and Dots. I've bought a Merceedes van thats registered 2010 but is a 2009 model cos it was 8K less. Now do i say it's a 2009 i.e. pre 2010 or do i say it's a 2010 ? LOL all good fun? If only they just adopted "British Twinshocks" we would'nt have half as much fun eh?
  3. Sounds like your fork springs are shot. Fit new ones. In Motion should be able to help. 6" Renthals should be about right. Drop the footrests, normally min 2" and back 1" - 2" and fit wider more modern ones. In my experience if you shorten the kickstart you will struggle to kick it over due to the primary gearing but thats up to you. Try it you can always buy a new one. They are long for a reason.
  4. Tyres tyres tyres. If you aint transfering the input to the ground you aint going nowhere. Michelin front IRC rear everytime.
  5. It's not just about the scottish trial Charlie but also about people putting false information on entry forms. Not that that would affect my club, we have a class for British Bikes not just Pre65, but remember some clubs do use the age of the machine in a tie decider, mostly AMCA ones i must admit, and i have seen 2011 bikes entered as 1960 before now which is why we never use the aleged age of the bike in a tie decider. I'm willing to believe a motor cycle was ridden wherever with the name Sprite on the tank, i can ride my OSSA tomorrow with a James sticker on the tank if i want but that doesnt make it a James, but what i think Bill and myself are getting at is were those machines the same specifically trials and i stress trials not converted scrambles machines that were on offer to the general public prior to 31/12/1964. Question when is a Cotton no longer a Cotton ? "a rose by any other name" ? It's all academic really from an eligability point of view as they are now eligable for the scottish so everybody else will follow suit but it has made for an interesting thread all a bit like Roswell and Area 51 LOL.
  6. So why doesnt the same apply to Cornwall? Not knocking as the countryside you get to ride in is sooooooooooooo much better than us but dont get why it should be so much more expensive unless it is because the other disciplines in England do subsidise trials and because we have more road race and moto cross circuits etc than scotland, think there's just Knockhill , thats why? One other question why do you have a SACU ? why arent you just in the ACU like everybody else? Just wondered. We are all one disunited Kingdom after all.
  7. Looks like i've got to live with it. We all have our cross to bear
  8. We have gone over to Expert, Intermediate & Clubman. We used to have a 50/50 route but it caused more grumbles than anything else and was only there because it was easier for the course setter to not lay out a third route. Never met anybody who called themselves a 50/50 rider so noe Intermediate. We use red & blue for Experts, Yellow deviation for Intermediate and White deviation for Clubman. Clubman incorporates Novice and anybody who wants a less challenging ride. Our first and last event with this new system was at Dudwood and seemed to go down well however it was a bit too hard because of the weather so the next event at Bracken will be a bit easier.
  9. Problem is Andy, please dont laugh i'm being serious, that to some people it could be viewed as bullying especially when a post receives a number of negative responses not because of the content of the post but purely because of who the poster is. It's very easy for people to "gang" up on somebody and by and large, with a few exceptions, we know very little about the lives and backgrounds of the people who post on here. After all apart from a select few we all use nom de plumes. Wonder why that is? I dont include myself in the bullied category, had more than enough of that as a kid, but i just had to make the point which may not have been taken into account. If you intend to keep the facility and i see no reason why not then it may be more sensible to retain the + but remove the -. Just my twopennorth.
  10. Didnt know about it till i saw this. I'm speechless and feeling very emotional and helpless. Can only concur with the thoughts and prayers but that seems so inadequate. Hopefully the other Pacific rim countries arent affected too badly. Have friends in Australia and NZ at the mo. Truly awful and puts everything into perspective. Makes you feel so small and helpless.
  11. God that was an awful bike. "One day trials machine?" yeah you rode it for one day then got rid quick. Loved the 125 Sprites but the 405 was a pile of poo
  12. Thats what i was thinking plus you can buy a clutch lever with an extra lever incorporated for a decompressor "Forged & Die cast shorty compression lever & clutch lever mounted onto a die cast perch. Easy access to the release lever makes it easy to use. Pt ref 13-015.F " they retail at around
  13. Notice they are even appearing on e bay now @
  14. Well thats it then i was wrong and my memory was definately playing tricks. As Charlie Prescott says the price of Sprites will now deffinately rocket as i think the only thing holding them back was the perception that they were not pre65 eligable. All i ever wanted was a categorical answer and this is the nearest i am going to get. I do notice that in all the correspondance that nobody ever says they were selling TRIALS sprites pre65 as i know they were selling scramblers but they just say motorcycles. Whatever i have to accept that Sprites are pre65 eligable. It's just a shame that it's taken so long for anything like a categorical answer to emerge. Thank you Charlie and Jonah.
  15. Never knew the guy but RESPECT to his standards of workmanship. The owners of these bikes should count themselves lucky.
  16. Reputation tag is something new added by Andy who owns this site. The higher your score the "nicer" or more respected a person you are by this community. The lower the score as in - figures , see my reputation, then the more dispised you are by the community. Your score is affected by viewers rating your posts either + or - . Dont worry yours is going the right way. I dont know what happens when you get "too many" negative scores but looking at it i will probably br the first to find out LOL
  17. Will have to wait till Charlie Prescott comes back with Jonah's reply. I like you would have put the Sprite down as 1966 but others seem to argue otherwise to get them eligable for the scottish 2 day. I dont have an axe to grind, although i have been accused of having bought multiples from my local hardware store, either way. I would just like to have a categorical answer as i like many others always thought that Sprites were post 31/12/1964. I seems that some would hope that after 46 years have passed then a convienient case of memory loss might have occured which perhaps it might? I will await Charlie's post to clarify. Somehow cant see there being a flood of appologies if my memory is proved right but we will wait and see. Nice bike BTW
