    Beta 270

Mmmmm...intersting, I had exactly that problem a couple of years ago. All the 250s I looked at were mingers, but there was a v.good 270, so I bought that. I didnt really want it since I've owned 250s and 270s before and always prefered the 250...(I'm an average kind of clubman rider). However, I got used to the 270 and now Im not sure which I would prefer to go with when I've got enough dosh to upgrade again. My advice would be get whatever is in best shape, and you'll get used to it. I've never found it too much of a handfull and I always take the flywheel weight off mine which is supposed to make them a bit snappier too. Hope that might help.
  2. Fivemeister....I couldnt agree more. I always take the flywheel weight off mine...much better I reckon. Also reckon the slow action throttle is better too.
  3. Rover cars are only worth a pound anyway eh! Hope to see you at Kimbolton (the one near Leominster) on Sunday Andy??..its the Walsall club trial..its in the TMX.
  4. Shipping mine from HK to UK was hassle free, but have no idea what it cost since I shipped other stuff at the same time. I would do it by air too if it was me, but to be honest, if you're in a hurry I would think about buying a new one there??..SURELY it would be cheaper than here in UK. HK was always quite alot cheaper than UK, and it seems most other places are. Might also be good to support the local importer there? Good luck...lucky guy riding in the heat..thats one thing I always miss from HK...its so bloody cold riding in UK I always feel like my body wont loosen up...even in the SUMMER!..although, I think they ought to take that word out of the English dictionary. Rant over!
  5. WOW....such strong comments...have any of you guys that are knocking it actually tried it????? Friend of mine who lives in China reckons its very good actually...of course, that also is a comment from me having NOT tried it myself, but give them a break eh!. Whats so wrong with someone else entering the market place? Personally I think (from direct experience having lived there) that there are already some world class, excellent probucts being exported from China, and I'm sure there will be more and more as the years go by.
  6. Yeah Yeah...n how come you aint still at work at 5.30ish or whenever it was you posted this. You got internet in the van or something?
  7. When I lived in Hong Kong someone with a sense of humour!!!!!!!!..kept importing the tubeless fronts to HK and for a while it was all we could get. TRy getting a tubeless one to bead on a modern bike with a tube in...complete and utter nightmare! Unless you have a fantic, make sure when you buy a front its a TUBE TYPE one
  8. Ive used repsol gearbox oil for years and its really good. You can find it at www.bvm-moto.co.uk
  9. I always used to use a funnel with long tube attached to fill the oil. Lineaway is right, it is very awkward to get to.
  10. Dear All, Please help me to put to rest a discussion I had with my mate today ...I told him that his rear wheel/tyre on his 06 Beta Rev3 doesnt have an innertube and he wouldnt believe me. I even tried pulling the tyre off my 05 to prove it, but we didnt have time for that. SO...you're gonna owe me a pint after these replies bowellsboy!!!!!!!!!!...or am I gonna be eating a large slice of humble pie??? We will see!
  11. Still pleased with yours then bodrinker!..hope to see you at the Rhayader trial this SUnday.
  12. Just slightly bend the bracket...(VERY easy to do)..you only need a very minimal ammount of bend to create lots of clearance on the exhaust.
  13. Hee-hee...nice one Heath..have a good time this weekend. Wish I was there, so have a beer for me too.
  14. lastplacebrad. Called me a Grumpy old git, but thats exactly why Im eagerly waiting for my daughter to want and be ready to ride an Osset. I cant wait for someone to tell me she cant ride it, although I would only encourage her to ride it on the lawn, so hopefully no-one will. I think one of my counter arguments will be the ammount of times Ive been nearly run down by people on mobility scooters. Nothing against them but theres some seriously aggresive drivers of those in our local town centre. (Must be all the cider they drink round 'ere)
  15. Decals will probably be the same price from any dealer, but I would try bvm-moto.co.uk since they have always been very fast, reliable, helfull for me. Sorry, cant help with paint codes
  16. Totally agree Gaz. I still cant get my head around how much I pay for even wheel bearings here (6004 is such a common one too!) compared to what I used to pay in Hong Kong, for exactly the same brand of bearing. I wont even say how much..it'll make you all weep!
  17. Sounds like a good idea Andy..
  18. bvm-moto.co.uk also post them..or at least they have to me in the past.
  19. Well...you know us Herefordians...we're tighter than the Scots and Yorkshiremen put together, but I better not get saying that on here eh! Thanks for the advice though Andy. I had wondered about the bearing, so thanks for that advice too gasgasthermo. OK..better get back to the garage. Hope I might see you in Apperley (Cheltenham Spa comp) on Monday morning Andy...its just before Tewkesbury, so not too far for us.
  20. Cheers again all.. Heath..yeah, sorry I may have forgotten to tell you. No I havent sold the 05 but I bought back my 02..(first trials bike I had)..purely for sentimental reasons. Pleased I did too coz on the ride I had before starting to strip it down it was great, apart from the engine noise, which is why I decided to take a look. More soon. STU Piston is all clean now, but still trying to get remnants of old base gasket off that are stuck on the base...(any tips for that??)
  21. Thanks Dan, Thats all really usefull stuff, and thanks for taking the time to type it all out. I'm looking forward to that new feeling which I hope to get when I've finished it all and have the new rings in. Just ordered a new base gasket today as well. Didnt order the top gasket (metal one) since it seemed absolutely fine. If anyone thinks that was a mistake please say and I'll order one ! Cheers.
  22. Hi all, Well..I've just taken the barrel off my 02 Beta Rev3 250. Mostly because last time I rode it, it was making a strange rubbing noise from the top of the engine. I thought one of the rings might have broken or something and also assumed it was time I changed the piston rings anyway. SO..the barrel is off, and all looks well on the inside, but just wondered if any of you had any tips for cleaning the top of piston..(whats the best thing too clean it with). Also, ..should the arm? that holds the piston be a brown colour. Its almost a rusty kind of colour...not what I expected. Sorry if any of this is vague. First time I've taken the head of ANY bike!! Thanks for any advice you might be able to give.
  23. Hi all, Anyone know why it says WARN..0 percent under my avatar. I havent posted any chat for ages..so maybe its that??..or did I do something bad?...hope not

Ive seen it on an 02 Beta around the back of the filler..couldnt see it without lifting the plastic...but it never got any worse, and the guy just sealed it with liquid metal or something like that.
