Matt at Speed & Sport is pretty big into TY80s.
I'll have to scare one up for my daughter in a few years... hope I can find one then.
-
I dunno, doesn't look like you could get many bikes in there.
-
I'm always surprised at how modified the older bikes are allowed to get. Can I assume there is a class for stock and modified vintage bikes?
-
That's it for Rotten Tomatoes...
Of course this is the motorc...er, scooter that we'll actually see in the movie:

Single cheeseburger, animal-style for me.
Sadly, one of the only redeeming qualities about that great state.

Do take Cliff tales with a grain of salt...

Also be sure to check out the TY Owners Group on Yahoo.

You may need to be a TC Supporter to be able to attach an image.
Otherwise you will need to have the picture hosted somewhere on the interweb and use the URL to link here.

I've heard that swapping the entire forks from a 250 to a 175 is the "thing to do".
-
I believe that they are much more related to the TY175 than the TY250. I don't think many parts exchange between the TY125/TY175 and the TY250.
-
Yamaha parts for a lot of the old bikes are still available from the dealers.
Most people pulled the oiler and run pre-mix on those TYs (at least all of the ones I've seen).
This weekend I must have seen almost a dozen TY250s. Like frinken' jackrabbits.

Just coming home from Donner Pass. For those of you who didn't know there was a two day vintage trials down there. For us up in Portland that meant a 4 day trip but worth every last second.

As you can see from some of the pictures, the scenery was spectacular and the traps were outstanding. There was a huge variety of trials bikes. Everything from a DMW (Richard Mann brought that one out. He said it was his wife, Kay's) and a Saracen (I know, I had to look it up too) to tons of really Ariels and Gold Stars along with a ton of Sherpa Ts (and even some Alpinas).
This was easily the best trials I've ever been too (granted that's not every many) and I can't recommend going to this more highly. If you could only go to one trial a year, this would be my choice.

I'd be surprised if the puller is more than $20. Well, for an Ossa, maybe $40.
-
I think Federal is Allied.

I'm not ready to dive into the world of Montesa ownership. I'm still learning about my Bultacos.
But I might be helping a friend to get a Cota so he can go trialing with us. He's been lusting over my Sherpa T, but he likes all of the Spanish stuff.
Just trying to find a resource so I know any pitfalls to the bikes (not that there are any)...
-
Can anyone recommend a good forum for the old bikes? Is there anything like the Bultaco Owners Forum (been around for a long while, plenty of members, etc.) for the Montesa?
-
I never got an email so I assume that someone else was able to help?
-
According to the NGK site, it should take a D8EA (I think).
Go here and confirm. If this is correct, I'd get the correct plug and give it a try.
-
We've been using ATV boots if you need a lower cost alternative. More flexible, treaded sole and not as hi-tech looking (for the vintage folks). Typically a good boot will be US$100.
-
I think I said all of that in about two sentences.
-
I don't know if they have a drum selector like a Bultaco, but that is one place to start. Or a broken fork.
If you were looking for an easy answer without splitting the cases...
-
As completely useless as that might be I doubt anyone here would turn down the opportunity to pick it up for $40. Lord knows I've done worse (can anyone say rusted out Allstate?)
-
Are you able to move the gear selector (up, I assume) after 2nd gear or will it not move at all?
