Dirt in the pilot circuit would definitley make it bog at tick over but on wider throttle openings it should run ok. Is that what you get?
The only way to clean to carb properly is compressed air through all the tiny tubes etc. You need an airline.
Smalley250 may have a point in his first post.
My mate has a 1999 TXT. Everything on it works to a point but also every single component is worn including tyres. Badly!
He competed on it for the first time the other week and did well. Goes to show an old dog can run with the hounds.
He needs a newer bike though
On my 200 the clip has to be on the inside otherwise it just touches the worn brake pedal and it goes click click click click as you go along. Took me ages to work it out and it felt very weird putting the spring clip on the wrong side. I always wondered why the previous owner had done this as well!
All this can be found in the owners manual:
Go to the Beta website and you can download a PDF of the manual.
The suspension should be able to work with your weight fine but it will need to be set up. Plenty of preload front and rear.
The PDF will have simple advice like "four to five turns of preload" and show you what to twiddle. Once you have the basics set up you can fine tune later on.
Might be the air screw needs to be set right. Try screwing it in fully and then out two turns only. From this point it could be fine tuned easily till smooth running achieved.
Are you using fresh fuel?
How olds the plug?
I did my first two without knowing a single rule!
I got lost in sections on the first one so it made no sense to worry about rules!
Really enjoy it now though and am not dropping so many marks.
My Raga 300 was an 05. Funny how two had the same gearbox break up issue?
Mine whirred in the top two gears before it went bang.
I wish I had not gone down the "I'll see if it gets worse" route.
I take tanksy's point though. Only strip what you need. It may be the kick gear after all but if in doubt strip and clean the box out.
Mine did that and then BANG, the gearbox selector drum boke up and split the cases.
I'd do a strip as far as required to find where they are from. Better than a new Gbox and cases. Cases alone are £££'s
In the gearbox yes. In petrol, forks or shock then the answer is no.
It costs more but it's very good and last ages 9 look at Putoline "Nano trans". My box is weet as a nut since changing to this. I only need to change every 40-60 hrs now as well. It only just starts to get notchy at that hours! Awesome stuff.
16ml per litre gives you 60:1. This should offer plenty of lube but no smoke.
If the bike is running nice on Putoline why not stick with it? I'd only change if you feel it does'nt work.
I use A747 as my main oil (as a treat due to the smell and superior lubrication) but if going out for a day with mates I use the Putoline strawberry. I use the Puto as I know it mixes with other fuels and oils where as A747 does not. This helps if you run out and need to blag a litre to get back to the truck.
A747 is awesome but you do need to have your jetting set right and get the motor and pipe hot once in a while to burn off the worst deposits. I have to say I have no problems using it but maybe the odd tankful of Puto help burn it off?
I have no spooge either so it can't all be bad. My bike is a 200cc so maybe that helps as you "give it more beans" than a 250+.
Have you got the spring the right way round? At a guess it should be opposite to the side thats right. My rev 3 cam with loose springs after the previous owner kept his nice pegs. This meant I had to work it out but got there in the end and got the springs and pege tight and in the right place.
