  3. Know anyone selling one Alan ??
  4. The needle valve is what the floats act upon to stop the petrol entering the float bowel. If this is sticking for any reason, dirt or damage, the float bowl will flood.
  5. Needle valve in carb not closing fully ? Causing flooding when stopped ? I would change the plug and condensor as well, cheap and rules them out. I take it its still on points ?
  6. Tell us about removing turbo's from new Range Rovers.

Well, checked the timing and it was about this far out when strobed, Thought I had cracked it, still the same. Cleaned the carb again, still the same. Swapped it for one off an Arpilia (petrol screw type) sorted. Thanks for all your help and suggestions, now all I need is another PHBH 26 FS carb. Ross
  8. You should also check that when the suspension compresses that the chain doesn't become to tight, bad for your new chain, worse for your gearbox.

Hi lineway I have removed the small diameter pipe completely, and sealed each end so the system is redundant. (I am not referring the the carb overflows) The following pictures show the pipe .

Hi lineaway, using Aprilia carb for now, vent hoses are blocked at both ends. Thanks Ross

I run air cooled mono Aprilia @ 50:1 fully synthetic. Haven't found any manic carb cleaner yet. Should read magic, spell checkers, what are they like ?

Hi reggie Thanks, but the back box had just had the baffles welded/riveted and had been used on another SWM just before fitting. Ross

Hi Martin. Thanks for the info, just checked timing and its well out, while I was in there I popped the cover on the big 6205 bearing and its completely dry. So will replace that as well. Its not smoking to much so hopefully its only timing. I will have a look at the main jet, not something I usually check as in the past they didn't seem to have a problem, must be this dodgy new fangled petrol. Ross
  16. Hi Javier I'm on the reserve list, just got the letter 10 mins ago. Ross
  17. Don't have any history for this engine, but it starts and runs well. Really nice for approx the first 1/3, but isn't keen to keep going. I don't think it's carburation as it runs so well at the bottom. I'm going to check the timing first. It's had a new plug with no difference. How about disc valve timing ? The engine originally was from an Aprilia, but is running with a SWM air box and exhaust. Don't thing either are part of the problem ? Also don't think/hope that's it electrical, unless anyone has had similar experiences. Thanks in advance. Ross

The now disconnected pipe had a bore of approx 2mm, it also had a non return valve between carb and crankcase.
  19. Bob Wright would be the man to speak to.

All disconnected now, am I wasting my time with this carb ?

Hi Patrik The brass connection was to vacuum any build up of Unburnt fuel/oil from the crankcase, during a long downhill on closed throttle. Didn't really work. I was hoping for any tips on setting up the carb as it and the engine are from a donner bike and I am still discovering "things" on this "ready to ride" bike. Ross
