I took a bike to be registered (had to make an appointment) and as above it turned out to already be registered, got the old number back, and it was £25 as stated. (2/3 years ago) They wanted to see the bike in the flesh and wouldn't accept me quoting numbers.

That's as close to disaster as you want to get !
-
A good compromise, well done.

Mountain bike pump would probably work now, they go up to 130psi, at least.

I hope you have a better reception than I got.

Unfortunately I haven't read anything to change my original viewpoint.
Some sports are more expensive than others, does that justify raising the price to compete ? Fairness isn't a factor.
I had hoped to see a response from some of the clubs, as under the new regime, the SACU are making more money by the time a rider has competed in a few events, but if overall rider numbers are down, its the clubs that will suffer. We need the clubs more than the SACU,and there are alternatives !
If the price of anything is artificially high the principle of diminishing returns will become a factor.

Hi, can anyone give me the torque settings for the cylinder head / barrel for a 240 Rotax, and is there any pattern or just the usual opposite configuration.
Thanks

More teeth on the back sprocket lowers the gearing.
-
If you like the gearing as it is, ie 1st isnt to high or to low, 2nd likewise - go for the same number of teeth back and front.
1 tooth on the front will make a big differance, 1 on the back, very little.
What are you trying to achieve ? Someone will know the best compromise.

"Some posters on here have made comment about fairness etc. Let me answer that element."
"What the SACU have done is introduced a new fee structure for their licences; every competitor in every sport is now paying exactly the same for their competition licence and their personal insurance cover, within their licence - we all pay the same"! "All competitors will also be paying the same rates for ACU Benevolent Fund Levy and the new Competition Levy, per event."
John, Comparing the different arms of motorcycle sport the SACU represents, is like comparing 17 year old male drivers with 55 year old's with mortgage/kids/wife/ex-wife etc.
"Hopefully, when all this euphoria calms down and people in Scottish motorcycle sport, including trials riders (as this is a trials forum) can see what is really happening and why it is happening, then we can all get on with enjoying our sport in 2013"
Euphoria - intense feelings of well being, elation, happiness, excitement, and joy. Not quite !!
I would like to see some financial justification for the (potential) tripling of the licence fee. Bluntly, I'm not interested in fairness without figures.
It would also appear that the amount clubs are prepare to subsidize the levy is a component. Surely this should have been finalized before making an announcement ?

Stu's lightweight flywheel was possible from a 280 Aprilia, I just weighted the following and it to is 2.7Kg.
-
So it costs £34.99 from 1st January, you ride 26 trials in the year................. how much ?
-
I'm reading the explanation again and the "Rationale" is a bit confusing. Basically the license is increasing dramatically. Why ?
No actual figures have been quoted.
"We now all pay the same" are the risks and associated costs the same ? Is this a way of saying other forms of motorcycle sport have been subsidizing trials, or are trials now to subsidize racing etc ?
What will be the levy on ACU riders at Scottish events ? If it is also £5 and this is passed on it may well discourage the few that make the trip.
For many riders in the central belt, the (very good) trials in the north of England are as accessible as many in Scotland, whats to stop riders joining a club and getting an ACU license ? Not something I had ever considered doing as I, like Martin, have held a SACU licence for more than 30 years.
AMCA events are becoming more & more popular as it is (I rode Allan's event on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it) there are alternative events !!
I would like a proper explanation that only applies to trials as I really have only a passing interest in MX etc.
Thanks

Cant be bothered to read the article, but was her father present at his "baptism " ?
-
I got the "explanation" letter, which seems to imply that if you only ride "1" trial a month, your comp license will only be £100.
Before I jump to conclusions, some tell me this isn't so.
-
Can some one explain ?
The "comp levy" can't be £5 per rider per event !!!
Does this also mean that ACU licence holders are going to be charged an extra £6 per event ??

To big & to far ?
