Anyone grownup that sits on the knee of a man, bearded or not, needs to take a long hard look at themselves.

Hi reggie
Thanks, but the back box had just had the baffles welded/riveted and had been used on another SWM just before fitting.

Zip tye your back mudguard first.

Hi Martin.
Thanks for the info, just checked timing and its well out, while I was in there I popped the cover on the big 6205 bearing and its completely dry.
So will replace that as well.
Its not smoking to much so hopefully its only timing. I will have a look at the main jet, not something I usually check as in the past they didn't seem to have a problem, must be this dodgy new fangled petrol.

Don't have any history for this engine, but it starts and runs well.
Really nice for approx the first 1/3, but isn't keen to keep going.
I don't think it's carburation as it runs so well at the bottom.
I'm going to check the timing first.
It's had a new plug with no difference.
How about disc valve timing ?
The engine originally was from an Aprilia, but is running with a SWM air box and exhaust. Don't thing either are part of the problem ?
Also don't think/hope that's it electrical, unless anyone has had similar experiences.
Thanks in advance.

Looks the dogs dangles. Enjoy.

The now disconnected pipe had a bore of approx 2mm, it also had a non return valve between carb and crankcase.
-
Bob Wright would be the man to speak to.
-
All disconnected now, am I wasting my time with this carb ?
-
Hi Patrik
The brass connection was to vacuum any build up of Unburnt fuel/oil from the crankcase, during a long downhill on closed throttle. Didn't really work.
I was hoping for any tips on setting up the carb as it and the engine are from a donner bike and I am still discovering "things" on this "ready to ride" bike.

Only if your buying to break it, if you want to restore it its worth even less.
-
How cheaps cheap ?
Less than £100 ?

Didn't read the full description, but it is very easy to spend alot getting a "cheap" bike into usable condition.

When it comes to parts, Bultaco are much easier.

My first bike was a TL125, really enjoyed it at the time. (got it new from Edgar Bros 78ish)
95mpg was an average mileage for it also, and that was with the larger 60 tooth rear sprocket.
Given the choice now, I would take the Enfield.
-
Both really good, but 2nd one best in my opinion.
-
Half the fun is the challenge, you might find it all to easy on a more modern bike.
A high level exhaust as you say, 21" wheel and decent tyres, and move the footrests back somewhere about the swinging arm pivot.
But where do you stop ?
Is the rear rim 18 or 19" ? If 19 will limit choice for trials tyres.

Looks stuffed to me......
