    Swm 1982 Clutch Fix

Length of an old spring is probably not that accurate an indication, measure the thickness of a coil and I will see if I can compare it to some of the known springs I have. (I bought a selection)
  3. Any idea who no 30 was, made the rest look like armatures.
  4. OTF, really I'm not having a go at you, I've been reading your other topic and sympathize with organizers trying to be all things to all riders. It is slightly different north of the border, we have a much smaller pool of riders spread over a fairly large area. This obviously makes it harder for the organisers to lay out a pre65 / twin shock / modern event. The multi route section has been devised to try and compensate, sometime more successfully than others. This is where my grip about (dare I say it)cheat re-engineered bikes come in, the sections gravitate towards taking marks from the re-engineered bikes, making these trial less appealing to more standard/authentic bikes. I have been riding and enjoying trials on my SWM, but would be interested in a back to back comparison with some of the pre-65 James/Cubs etc kicking about. Just a thought, but might explain my lack of enthusiasm for a points system for entry qualification to the pre-65. Ross
  5. Long answer to a short question - but who is going to collate this information ? Incidental, I was speaking to barnie last weekend while riding a standard twin shock at a Scottish Classic trial, does that get me any brownie points.
  6. Hats off to OTF for volunteering for this immense task. Are you going to collate the entries for every single rider on pre-65 bikes ? I would suggest that it is a condition of entering the pre-65 Scottish, that riders have to register with yourself the year before to minimize your task. You would obviously have to check all results to verify riders claims. Much easier with the new fangeled tinternet. Just a thought, but would you have to check the bikes to validate their pre-65ness ? That might make your job a bit easier having excluded more than a few. Might need to brush up on your French, Spanish, German, Danish etc
  7. Before giving up speak to George Spence in Cupar, he will give you a definite answer. I'l dig out his phone number if you want. Ross
  8. Think there is one, but amalgamated with twin shock.
  9. Sorry, what I meant was the kick start goes through the clutch ? So might slip when kicking over ?
  10. Does it not kick start through the clutch ?
  11. Hi Paul Who built your wheel for you ? 1.85 is the more common size at the moment but who knows. Might be possible to pull the rim a bit, but probably not as much as an inch. Ross

    Swm 1982 Clutch Fix

Rotax clutch springs are available (in the UK anyway)I currently use 4 of the softest & 2 of the medium from the list below. I also have extended the clutch arm (inside clutch casing)and a dog leg clutch lever. The end result is a 1 finger clutch, which willslip if you drop the clutch in 4th and above, fine 99% of the time. Ross (***N) - LOAD at 20.00mm compression part no 239.620 clutch spring (169-N) 36.7mm part no 239.625 clutch spring (212-N) 34.1mm part no 239.741 clutch spring (255-N) 38mm
  13. Thanks Baldilocks, found them. Once again, thoroughly enjoyed the event. Ross
  14. Forgot to mention, and you probably knew there was a Scottish Classic on Sunday past, from memory there were 2 pre65's and several Bultaco's, James Turpie's Suzuki and my SWM + modern bikes and schoolboys. Well laid out Graham Miller (with help?)
  15. Cant argue with anything you say Willie, however, Murray is a very capable rider on a very special bike. James Morton also competes regularly as does Michael Anderson.
  16. Hi broony This topic has rattled around up here for as long as I have had a pre65, approx 20yrs. Scottish Classic club trials cater pretty well for pre65, also twin shock. Apart from that there's only Kinlochleven and the Highland 2 day, the AMCA seem reasonable to, but I have only been to 2 of them so cant really comment. I wish there were more, its not quite the same if there's only a handful of bike to compete against. Club only trials seem to be better than nationals where the pre65 and twin shock are lumped together. Ross
  17. Do you mean road registered ? I really only did this to check if it was listed stolen before investing time & money on it. There are few (any?) twin shock trials in Scotland that have road work. Ross
  18. Thanks for the reply's, I'l hide it away to stop it mocking me.
  19. I have a good Michelin front tyre thats marked tubeless. Are there the same issues trying to mount it on a tube type rim (Akront) ie at 5/6psi will drop back into the well ? Thanks Ross
  20. Have a look here for 2011 requirements :- http://www.ssdt.org/downloads/2010/2011%20Scottish%20Pre%2065%20Entry%20Pack.pdf
