You do, that's what the c in cdi stands for. Capacitors and condensors do the same thing, try and borrow a unit to swap.

Interesting comments, have you also done a cost analysts ? Are car brakes running in similar conditions to trials ? Are they over/under spec"d to compensate for their actual performance ?

As far as I know, it's always been BP5ES, or equivalent, Mon ami.
  6. Nostalgia is now a single route, very success (IMO) as the gap between state of the art pre66, and fairly standard twin shocks is marginal. However, the chasm between these and current bikes makes a single route a compromise to far.
  7. Lots of good points Glen, does it really matter how hard/ easy sections are ?
  8. Rickets, malnutrition, conscription into the war to end all wars, white feathers if you were a conscientious objector, shot as a coward if you suffered PTSD ....

  12. Do you have to cover the gearbox sprocket to Hamish ?
  13. Buy the nature of MX it is more expensive, no one would argues with that. Have a look at this site, which is basically cub, they expand to supply pre 65 and twin shock. Do the math. http://www.armac-design.com/exhaust/4588192834

Hi Mike, I bought one new, very reliable, not very exciting.
  15. I think you would be shocked at the money "invested" in twin shock and pre2016 bikes.
  16. What an exciting life you lead.
  17. 1/4 way to a new bike, 300 x 4 = £1200 You riding a pit bike ?
  18. I slipped walking a section a few months ago, smacked the back of my head really hard, fortunately still had helmet on. Pretty sure it would have been a hospital visit and stay without it.Also, access to section for recovery would probably have required a helecopter. Accidents don't only happen on the bike.
  19. Think your paying to much for your parts !
  20. To lock the crank on most rotax trials motors, from motoswm. Yes, you can run without the counterweight, the early red/white SWM's and the later Aprilia TXRs ran with just a nut. You will need the correct nut, I have a couple here if you want one You dont need a impact gun to remove the weight, just a half inch drive ratchet/bar. Either hold the flywheel, to lock the crank and remove the counterweight (std right hand thread). Or you can lock the crank directly......look between the fins on the crank case, just below the exhaust port, and there is a 13mm hex head bolt. Take this out, poke a clean screwdriver down the hole and it will touch the crank. Slowly rotate the crank, and when it reaches top dead centre there is a hole. If you find a long M8 bolt and screw this in, it will lock up the crank to remove the counter weight or flywheel nut. Also handy, if you need to set the disc valve. Cheers Martin
