  1. Rive nuts would be the answer if you can face drilling holes in your exhaust ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PROFESSIONAL-4mm-8mm-THREADED-RIVET-NUT-NUTSERT-RIVNUT-INSERT-SETTING-TOOL-NEW-/361416834381?hash=item54261f3d4d:g:6yAAAOSw5VFWLlco

  3. Hi Ken. If the dates next year coincide, the Nostalgia and Newcastleton trials make a good weekend, doable from Stranraer. Sure you would enjoy them both. Thanks for the interest. Hi Deryk, dual (suitable) routes seem to be the way forward considering the range of abilities, ages and "modifications" My preferred solution to levelling the playing field, is multiply scores by 0.75 1.0 and 1.25 depending on class. This seems to work well in Spain.
  4. The existing format of running the Pre 65 and Twin Shock Championships in tandem with modern bikes, has not been as successfull as I'm sure everyone would have hoped. Is it time for a new approach ? Maybe a stand alone Championship catering predominantly for them, run along similar line to the very successful Kia Championship. (We would have to be careful not to clash to maximise the entry.) The problem with the existing format, as I interpretat it, is too many potential riders have to make a choice between championships, and also it is very difficult to lay out suitable multi route sections. The huge success of dedicated events like the Highland 2 Day and Pre65 Scottish clearly shows there is a demand, why not expand and capitalize on it ? I would be interested in the views of the potential entry, both from Scotland and the North East/West of England where I'm guessing the bulk of the prospective riders live. Thanks Ross
  5. Is there more than one "standard" spec on a 199b ? See John Collins post :- http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/32218-sherpa-t-differences/
  6. 4th on a hillclimb, on a 250 ?

    Steering Angle

1.5° will make an appreciable difference, any more and you start to have issues with clearance with exhaust / mudguard. 25hmmm longer shocks is supposed to equate to 1°. Some makes of shocks you can be lengthen, 395mm is about max before the chain starts to hit the lower part of the frame, and the brake pedal. The brake pedal can be moved down if the footrests have been moved down and back. Where do you stop ?
  8. Or Aprilia TX300, the ultimate SWM !

    Steering Angle

Steepen head angle by 1.5 degrees, or get longer shocks, or drop forks buy 25mm.

  15. Cheers Mika, if you remembered tell me when the regs come out.
  16. From videos I've watched, sections seem to be much longer than UK ones. Probably feel like 40 sections !
  17. If you can face the trip over the bridge this Saturday. http://www.lothiantrialsclub.co.uk Similar or slightly easier sections than East Neuk, if your Kev W, excellent result.

  20. Piero Sironi has commenented that he and Fausto Vergani took the decision to pull out because of increasing union and government interference.
  21. Hi smokey125, there are very few twin shocks that are standard, even the one's that look it. Most have electronic ignition, which is generally an acceptable mod'. Frame chops and footrest repositioning is not always obvious, modified top yokes are also common. Lightening flywheel, revised porting or engine's from later models are also common. You here stories of "original" bikes winning, if they don't have pirrelli' s or Dunlop trials champion's, and gas girlings or equivalent, they aren't standard. Modern tyres and shocks are a world away from 80's offerings. Bottom line is your bikes modified even by fitting current tyres, cables, levers, bars, levers, footrests, units etc. What's acceptable, depends who you ask !
  22. Look out for a decent 240 / 280 SWM or Gori, very good in standard form, or with a few minor mods can be easily tailored to your size. Check their history, they won virtually everything late 70's early 80's.
