Jreilly, It is only a SMALL fracture that means there is room for improvement....with all that time off work just think of all the riding you could do........besides that's what a helmet is for. Take it easy, get healed up. broken bones suck. especially in the noodle.

Depends on what you want out of the bike. All sizes 125 through 300 will handle your physical size and weight. ( I am referring to 2 strokes, don't know much about modern 4 strokes) A 125cc must rev the hell out of it and use flawless technique when riding. a 250cc has some low end grunt but needs some reving and good technique. a 270cc has more low end torque and better throttle response if you get into a spot where you need to give it a bit of a jab of gas. A 300cc has most low end torque and wicked throttle response. I would suggest a 270cc because that is what I ride and I like the way it responds. (but thinking about a GasGas 300) But a 250 should serve you well. as a side note I am 5' 9" and weigh 240 pounds. (yep got a spare tire if I get a flat on the bike) And I ride ADV class against Firstgear. If I am incorrect about the characteristics of the different bikes somebody will let me know.

Well sounds expensive and a bit of a hassle. Guess you would really WANT one. So why no direct import to the US from montesa factory? And how long is this predicted to last? I am not interested in purchasing a new montesa but it is worrisome when a trials manufacturer stops importing to the US. I heard last year there was a snag in importing but thought that was supposed to be resolved shortly after hearing that. So it is still not resolved then or is it strictly a sales thing.........not enough sales to justify bringing into the US? But if you don't import to US then there will never be any sales..........seems like a Catch 22.

What is this procedure known as "Washing the Bike"???? Sounds like work. OK I admit I wash the bike if it was a really muddy event, but usually the next day. Most often I have to get ready to go to work when I get home from an event. But if it just a bit "dusty" I'll leave it.

Williamd You missed the point of my post. I was using an example to put the situation into perspective for the person wanting to trespass. So I will put it bluntly. ASK FIRST!! And don't screw it up for the rest of the trials community.

Look at it this way: If it was your land and somebody came through without permission and rode his MX bike through and tore it up you would be very upset. Right? Same principle different bike, It is not yours don't touch. Same thing we all tell our kids so maybe we should follow our own advice.

He then sold the bike a few months later. I inherited the manuals, Thanks oh wonderful Brother of mine. I did a complete teardown of my 2000 2.9, If you follow the manuals and take your time, it is not that bad of a job. I would assume the principles are the same on a 99 1.25. Just make sure you have enough work bench space to lay out all the parts of the engine.

UUUMMM, actually if you want a shorter wheel base you would have to loosen the chain, by tightening the chain you move the rear wheel away from the front wheel. How many beers have you had. AAAAHAHHHHH Jim that makes sense about the "chunks" flying off. I am pleased with the performance of the Dunlops and the price is better. Speaking of price and me being an Uber Tightwad.........has anybody (with any rear tire) taken a razor blade and "squared off" the knobs on their tire??? If ya have, did it do any good? Did the tire have better grip for longer? Did the knobs rip away from the tire and fall off?

Zippy has never run Cheng Shin's on his Sherco. I like the Dunlops. I am like an Uber tightwad. I run a Dunlop Rear for 2 years. 1st year one way then flip it and run a 2nd year. My front tire is a Michelin that I bought about 5 yrs ago. (Hey Biff, Remember that Fantic Section I had, that is when that front tire was new.) This winter I plan on purchasing a brand new Front and Rear set of Dunlop's. There is much mentioning of dropping air pressure 1 pound for different tires to compensate for side wall stiffness, but hell I am closer to 250 pounds than I would like to be and at that weight 4, 5 or 6 psi all feel the same. I generally run 4 or 5 psi in the rear tire and 6 or 7 psi in the front. Depends if wet and muddy or dry and grippy. That just sounds like a classic "It is expensive therefore it must be the best" type of statement. That just seems to be the total opposite in my mind.......yes softer better traction, but if softer they would not last longer than a "harder" tire. Just look at the difference between sport tires and touring tires for road bikes. Sport tires softer and grip like glue but don't last very long. Touring tires are harder and wear like iron but don't grip as well. That's just the way the logic works in my head
