Maybe Trials central stretches further than you think http://www.trialonline.org/01%20TRIAL.FIM/12.CTR.INFO/2014/14%20CTR%20INFO%2001.pdf

Everyone not on benefits like benefit cuts surely? Not sure that the analogy works with RULES.
Answer the question WHOSE RULES?
A suggestion to cut costs wont work if no one buys heavier and outdated technology, surely? A little extra cost for pads changed 2 or 3 times a year isn't going to make someone take up the sport/or leave, is it?
Far more important is the manufacturers getting together and producing a loss leader starter bike for youths (a la ty80) that's where we need our focus getting more in the sport not changing what works fine whether it be rules (made by the fim or acu) or adding weight.
-
Your anecdotal evidence doesn't ring true to the majority.
Whose rules are you referring to above? It aint going to happen, it would serve little purpose to the ordinary man, out there are thousands and thousands of bikes which would never comply with your rules so move on.
-
Your view of "explaining" seems not to follow commonsense. Tell me which manufacturer is going to increase the weight of their bike and change production simply because the few bikes they have in the wtc?
I think this is where you are following others propaganda as the pro gearbox has never given me any trouble on the 5 gassers ive had ever. No one would deny that initially in 2004ish there were problems and the vulnerability if the gear lever is given a big whack but for clubman its not a problem. We all know the make of gearbox that has been difficult since its launch and that is not a gas gas. I would suggest the converse is true, if it works at wtc with the stresses and strains it has at that level it must be good?
When was the last time Raga or brown had a problem with their box in an event? Didn't Gas Gas win the team award at the SSDT, and the Scott?
-
I just think that the FIM appear to be trying to find the quickest way to f up the sport/manufacturers/riders.
ie 290cc? no stop not correctly enforced or sections designed to suit? No help with transportation/start money to flyaways despite tie up with dhl? new minimum weight that means current bikes are underweight (except 1)? Theirry Michaud thinking he knows best? No introduction of further improvements/accessability promised in 2013 and so on.
-
It would make no sense at all.
Wheels same
bars same
brakes same
Forks the same
Plastics very close
airbox very close (to one make or another)
So without their own engine its basically a different frame, but Ally or steel that's being done by other companies already.
I wish them the best of luck, its great to have choice but is the market big enough, jtg and ossa haven't found it easy as new boys wth different variations have they?
-
Of course you are right, there are exceptions to the generality, but then the TY hasn't been produced for 20 odd years so not really relevant to fim minimum in 2014?
Bashplates for 4rts are probably the exception but that may be associated with their standard weight?
Fine if you want to disagree but my guess is aftermarket titanium footpegs from raptor and s3 among others, exhausts from thor arrow termignoni s3 etc are probably evidence contrary to you thoughts.
-
But now its working fine reliable and lighter, its called progress.
-
Think he might be a bit stiff on a bike.
-
its not a whitlock is it bondy?
-
-
Get an old long flat screwdriver or similar and with a bit of perseverance you can get a little bit of movement swap to opposite side of bearing and repeat. Once you get a little bit its easy of course.
is that clear?
-
Restrictions cannot be put on human ingenuity and resourcefulness and the simple desire to "tinker".
I have probably the lightest production trials bike ever made but still happy to put a few ti bits on it, will it make me a better rider, no, will I loose less marks, no, but any rules the acu fim or dad of 2 suggest wont change my ways. If anyone wanted what you suggest then the aftermarket suppliers would be making thicker bashplates casings etc, they don't cos no one wants it, or they buy a 4rt?
No club in the land is going to start weighing bikes before club events so it just aint gonna happen, like you say the horse has bolted.
-
That's the problem James you listen to Voldemort and very soon you start to believe him!
So gas 249 the company behind Dougies vertigo is Catalan then?
-
ACU a and b will not have weight limit next year
-
yes shaver the plunger bolt. pretty sure swinging arm is as per original position.
-
TTT have great enthusiasm and an excellent mechanic in Riccardo, and the bike prep is always good they have a truck and as all teams in Italy they manage to get outside sponsors.
Poor results in what way? I think they have done ok in recent years, and have moved up only recently from winning junior wtc to having a full wtc rider in Jack, who I think has carried some injuries this year.

[
Its a mots helmet painted.
Do they have spray shops in Canada?
-
You know Dani is Gas Gas now?
-
mark I didn't say the rules were changed to suit Honda in 2012, the no stop rule change made it closer, try to follow simple information!
Put in even easier terms, weight limits and cc ARE changing for 2014.

Agree with comments above
I have never known how or why rules are made at FIM level without any real (apparent) democracy seeming to take place.
Both with rule bending as in the case of Pol Tarres and introduction of rules which only give more advantages to Honda as telecast says above.
Last year was closer with raga as near as he has been but now these two rules (WHY?) 290cc and weight have simply given the advantage back.
Apart from maybe 5 riders all the others are paying to get round the world champs and despite the FIM saying they would help they have not brought one rule or measure to increase participation.
TOTAL SHAMBLES WHICH WILL ONLY HASTEN THE WTC DEMISE.

One lesson I learned the hard way and it was a shame as It spoiled what must have been a perfect bore/piston, was taking a new bike out of a very cold environment and starting it up keeping it at tickover for 30 secs. The piston expanded first and nipped up solid. Be careful or at least not cautious (?) at the same time!!!!!????

well spotted lars, im sure youre right its Gubian.
