Interchangeability
I have a 199A and can buy some 92s for parts. Will the top ends interchange and are they significantly different? What about forks, clutch and gearbox parts? I know you guys know. Thanks

[quote name='Woody' The first thing to do is throw away the triangular silencer. They are fine for appearances on museum pieces but strangle the motor if you are using the bike. If you're not bothered about it looking original put it on ebay. Most people threw them away when the bikes were new. Then take it back on the road and find somewhere to run it near flat out for a while to see if it will burn of any gooey residue that may be in the silencer. That sometimes works wonders for a 2 stroke motor that has got choked up. What do you recommend as a replacement for the rear box on a 199A?- Redbull romaniacs on a trials
I'm interested, have you got a link for them?- Which gear.........

Good point. The other thing to consider is, thats 12.85 million couch potatos.- how does ignition timing affect performance?
Your SWM probably won't do this, but a piston port 2 stroke will frequently run backwards with timing retarded only a few degrees. It can be great fun!- 4RT Gearing
9-42 with narrow X ring chain is the best for me (old, mid level rider).- Evo 300 4T starting
I test rode one last week. The owner recommended just taking the slack out of the cable. It started easily for me but I only rode it long enough to realize that it's the bike I would buy if a new bike were in the cards for me just now.- 4RT dead
- Kickstart hits footpeg
You can purchase rearset pegs here in the U.S. that may help, if you used standard trials pattern pegs. https://secure.rypusa.com/prodpage.cfm?cat_selected=116&product_selected=142&startrow=9- 4rt gear oil type
I've used Maxima 75wt synthetic gear oil in my 06 since it's first oil change, works great. The clutch is original, the master cylinder has been changed to the large body as used on the 315.- starting
- Four Stroke Vs Two Stroke
Yeah, lumping all 4 strokes together makes as much sense as considering one Trials tire as good as the next, since they all look the same.- two stroke oil
- Is there going to be a new Mont?
Umm, wasn't it the F.I.M. that mandated that all trials bikes in the world rounds be 4 stroke by 2006, and then backed away from their own rule after the Trials manufacturers spent big bucks developing said 4 strokes?- Is there going to be a new Mont?
I believe the EFI system came from a scooter. Which as far as two wheels go, is probably where the real money is.- Is there going to be a new Mont?
Honda's future rests on a two stroke dirt bike- Apico steel clutch plates
Lower gearing and/or an O ring chain might make the bike suit you better.- Bultaco Sprockets On-Line?
I would contact Sprocket Specialists in your state of CA. They can probably make one for you.- 199A rear engin mount
After reading this thread I went and looked at my 199A. It has the aluminum bracket. I can't get too worried about it since it's lasted over 30 years, but I'll look for a steel one since I'd like to paint the frame anway. Is it a Bultaco part? From a different model?- Rear Rim Width
1- Because I think it will let the tire spread out and conform better to the terrain. 2- Because I have one.- Rear Rim Width
I'd like to replace the 1.85 rear rim on my 199A with a 2.15. There is very little clearance on either side. Does anyone have any experience with this?- petrol !
