  1. Is it not possible to come up with a compromise that suits both parties. The problem with no-stop is that you can get a 5 when you momentarily stop after hitting some slippy roots or a rock. You then regain traction and forward momentum and get out the section. Then observer kindly tells you " it was a 5 because you stopped" If we allow a momentarily stop of a couple of a seconds unpenalised then it would still allow the top riders to hone their skills and quickly bounce and take advantage of this quick stop and go if you like. Stop more than a couple of seconds and you still get a five. Like wise the clerks of the courses can ease the sections slightly because in reality they will be no-stop sections. Don't shoot me if it's already been suggested!
  2. I use these from pro-line. Red, black or blue.
  3. Put the original carb back on and try starting it with that. Maybe the new Mikuni is not jetted correctly for the Fantic.

    Sherco clutch

Like Baldilock says, are you sure there is freeplay at the lever end? There are two adjusters, one for the clutch adjustment and the other adjusts the position of the lever, ie closer or further away to handlebars. This one can cause problems if the lever is set up too close to the bars. Done it myself before, tried it at home and seems fine, got in fourth across fields or roadwork and slips like mad.
  5. The girls had pink boards as well.
  6. Are you getting paranoid because someone mentioned the colour of the exhaust header pipe. Probably was that colour when you bought it, like I said earlier, retarding the ignition can cause it to turn golden. If it is running too hot while you are riding then your rear mudguard will start to melt and the plastic exhaust cover will melt also. Play safe and get the ignition timing checked and also the carb jets and settings checked just incase somebody has played around with it. Stop worrying and just get your dealer to check it over.
  7. Wonder if it is still a five speed box.
  8. You get the score of the board that you passed last before you either stop or get through the section. If you get through then you get a 0 even if you put your feet down 50 times. Putting feet down is irrelevant on this type of section.
  9. Mine did that when I had the ignition retarded by the local dealer. Never had any problems with the bike apart from the tarnished look to the pipe.
  10. Links are not working Lee.
  11. Never snapped a kick-start but did have starting kickback problems especially from cold. Retarded the ignition made it so much easier to start, no kickback and was a bit softer power as well. Only downside was the front exhaust pipe turned gold.

    Air Box Horror!

Any chance this grit could have been blasted in to the airbox when you washed the bike?
  13. Always found the Irc gripped better on my Sherco than the Michelin.
  14. Try doing this section another way. You are practising and not competing so there is nothing to stop you practising each part of the section on it's own and then putting it all together once you can clean each individual part. Split the section in to two parts. The first bit you keep doing all the time but you are struggling on the last bit so then practice the bit you are finding hard. Make your practice bit the last part of the section, so start on the flat rock and ride up and over from a standing start ( stood balanced) the bit at the end. When you have done that bit then you are ready to put it all together in one long section. Go back and jump over the first rocks and gap, and then stop on the rock, using clutch and back brake and balance and compose yourself, then do the last bit that you have practised. I know which rocks that you are trying and the camera has flattened it somewhat. You are brave and got some guts to be trying those after three months. Well Done.

    Convert To 'stealth'

Do you have the landowners permission to ride on the land or is your problem that the Government does not allow off-road riding?
  16. If the Sherco is too powerful then there is no way he will control the Gas Gas 280. Why not get a 125 then when he needs more power you could always get the 225cc conversion kit.
  17. Too Fast Tim, both Mudboy and myself were chatting about the picture he had just posted, yet you have analysed and passed comment on every word we have posted. Are you a teacher by any chance?
  18. Is the photo typical of the terrain that you ride, rivers and rocks? Any more photos by the way?
  19. Fantastic action shot, did nt realise Trials had a following in South Africa. Do you compete every weekend and do you have far to travel?

    Lowering Footpegs.

May be the easier to balance thing has something to do with Sherco moving the fuel tank and airbox to lower the centre of gravity. That was their intended idea so it must have worked. I use Raptor titanium pegs, not a mark on them after three years.
  21. Bet he ended up getting divorced as well!!!
  22. Wait till the e-mails arrive from Nigeria. "Hello my friend. we will look after your bike if you could cash this money transfer from my shipping agent !!!!!!!!.............
  23. I suppose you want all your riding gear washing and your boots cleaning as well.

    Rad Weld...

Price up a new engine then do the maths. Sounds like your casing is porous, been well known problem on Beta's. Something to do with the anti-freeze used or normal tap water being used instead of proper de-ionised water. Couple of mates had the same problem, parts cost about
