    Sherco Virgin

Not me Copemech, however there is another John B on the website, perhaps that might be him.

    Sherco Virgin

Copemech, sounds like a very good idea with your new bearing for the brake pedal, however has it left your rear brake now attacting like a switch, with no smooth progression as you apply the pedal pressure? Just a thought but might it be an idea to try pads from a different pad manufacturer to get that feel back in to your pedal.

    Sherco Virgin

Are we going for a World Record with this "Sherco Virgin" thread as it does appear to have gone down the path of covering every single thing there is to know about Sherco's? I need that much memory to store this thread that I will need a new computer shortly!

    Service Manuals

Ishy, you have just made Copemech redundant by posting this link!
  10. Not sure of the size but I bought mine from my local Sherco dealer, cost about
  11. Copemech is your man for an answer for this as I think he has tried most settings. Not 100% sure but I think 6mm is about the limit for retarding ignition on the Sherco's. I run mine on 4mm and feel it is fine at the moment, however if I struggle in the winter with grip I may go to 5 or 6mm for a softer power delivery.
  12. Leave off the riding for a month. Instead of going to a Trial on a Sunday morning, offer to go shopping with your other half for the next three Sundays in a row. Make sure the shopping trip last for five hours and make sure you visit every available store at least three times. Stand outside the changing rooms for about two of those hours and make sure your other half spends all of your available cash and better have your credit card handy as well. What about the fourth Sunday I hear you ask? Enter a Trial and have some fun, you will never feel down about riding again!

    Sherco Virgin

What sort of price are these Ohlins and are they much better than the Olle on the 07?
  14. Should n't the title be " Smoggie boys get smoked"
  15. Hi Betarever, hope you enjoy your time on your bike this weekend.
  16. Just listed some of the changes Nigel, I think it's got new yokes and handlebars and the two map ignition as well. It's just Sherco putting out a special when the market goes quiet, we all know it's a marketing ploy for sales. Last years Cabestany model was very close to the 07 bikes released a few month later, I expect the same this year. Perhaps I'm being naive but may be Sherco don't alter their works bikes too much from standard anyway, seem to remember Jarvis winning the Scott on a bog standard bike out of the box a few years back. Anyway let's not get in to a Gas Gas v Sherco discussion on special editions or we will be here all week, just get your sunglasses out and just look at all those colours.
  17. Sherco have released pictures and information regarding the new Cabestany Replica on their website. The bike has two digital ignition maps which you can select to suit the obstacles or terrain you are riding, I guess Sherco have been reading our posts about "how to tame the beast" and "retarding the 290 ignition debates" and decided to give us a toy to play with. As with last years bike a Keihin carb is fitted and it looks like the radiator position has been lowered as well to aid cooling and lower the centre of gravity. The graphics designer for Sherco must hate blue or be colour blind because blue is not featured anywhere, I can find black, red, yellow, white, grey and silver but can't find blue! Cabestany 07 Replica.
  18. Got the Scudo model, we can get three bikes in no problem, two facing forward and and the middle bike in backwards.
  19. Well done Copemech, I've got to say I'm impressed, actually I'm really bl**dy impressed, how on earth did you find a part to fit, are you an aircraft technician by any chance? I used to think along the lines of trying washing machine hose, but Rolls Royce aircraft engine parts, now that's at a different level all together. Well done mate, you deserve a couple of pints for this find.
  20. Thanks motofire, thought I might have a rebadged 06 with the 07 bits on it.
  21. Can anybody tell me how you tell the year of a bike by it's frame number. My 2004 bike that I've just sold had TR4 in the middle of the frame number so I thought that would denote the year. However I've just picked up a brand new 07 from my dealer supplied by MRS and it's frame number is TR6, surely 2007 bikes should be TR7. Only picked up on it when I got home and dealer has shut early today for a trial so hoping you guys can put me straight. Thanks.
  22. Thanks for posting the information and picture regarding the timing, it will come in very useful. If you are talking about your picture then I think you might of meant to of typed base gaskets.

    Why Change It?

You seem to be making the mistake of thinking every year Sherco produced an identical 290 year on year. I think that each year from 02 the 290 got more fiery until 05 when it was softened slightly due to engine mods. I don't think the 06's and 07 owners have a problem with the power of the 290 as the factory have smoothed the bottom end power so much so that my dealer does not retard the ignition on these models. I agree with you that we should have probably got the 250, and that the 290 probably has too much power for most of us. However the 03 250 I tried before I got my 04 290 was not a very good engine power wise. That said the new 07 250 is supposed to be a very good bike, however I have not seen one yet. All Sherco's in our area are 290's or 125 for the schoolboys. As I ride Clubman A and middle course I do not need full power like the experts so the retarded ignition and softer engine power suits me well. It is much easier to maintain traction and it starts easier as well as it has eliminated that scary kick-back.
