Our land owners are as good as gold and don't charge the earth but I'm sure they would say "you've stuck up your markers, some riders tunred up. Now pay." Infact, I'd expect to pay, next time we wanted to run a trial they might say no.

We didn't ride in a trial today because we had to be home for Mothersday lunch, we went for acouple of hours practice and there were half a dozen others there who said the same. Perhaps this accounts more for the poor turn out than anything else? I have to say, we ran a 40 section road trial a few years back wehre only 21 riders entered. It was better to run and loose a few pounds than to cancell and disapoint those who had entered.

You don't say where you are from, there may well be some really good clubs near to you who would welcome a complete beginner. All the best Pete

That's sounds about right if it's very tidy.

It might be worth giving BVM moto at Stroud a call on Monday, they supply a full replacement ignition system which sorts out the problem on the Rev3 once and for all. Pete

Ian, You're more than welcome to leave it at mine if that helps, (foc) but since the kids came along I don't travel to trials all over the Midlands like I used to. So it may not be much use. Just turn up and drop it off anytime. Pete

My lad had a 2001 TXT200 and it was just as competitive as my 250, infact when he got a new bike he swapped to a Rev3 200. If you doubt the performance, just look at the sections to youth A championship ride and that's on 125's!

If people wish to spend the time and the money converting a mono to a twin shock then fair play to them, I've no objection to this at al. However don't do it just to be more competitive in the twin shock class. Use it as a clubman or as a special but not as a twin shock. Pete

Just a word of warning. It sounds really stupid now, but I had a rumbling front wheel bearing so I put the bike on a paddock stand and spun the front wheel to se if I could work out where the noise was coming from. I realised that it was the bearing, and something made me put my finger through the hole in the disc..... as the wheel was spinning. Luckily it didn't sever my finger but it was a bloody good cut!!!

What tools do you have at your disposal? I made some skid plates a few years ago at work during my lunch breaks from 6mm sheet alluminium, getting the material is the easy part. You'll be suprised how hard it is to form into shape. I cut the sheet using a power guillotine and formed it to shape with rollers. I cut some lightening holes and an access hole for the sump plug using a 50mm punch on a brake press. They were fairly good (I made about 30) but could have done with being 8mm to withstand harder impacts. Sadly I no longer have access to the machines. Pete

That does look good inthe pictures. There seems to be little in the wat of wear marks on the clutch casing or the swinging arm stickers, it certainly looks like it hasn't done much work. Being road registered is a bonus, plus you can get it hpi'd to be even more sure.

I'e had my 05 since new annd I've never beenable to get more then 450 mls out/in. I've leaned the bike over, I've left it to drain, I've undone the small bolt, still only 450. I don't know if it's me or if it's my bike but 650 would fill it way higher than the level hole. I change the oil after approx 10 hours. Pete

Stick the bulb in. It's DC.

I use Silkolene Light gear oil and change it every 10 hours or so. My clutch has always stuck after it has been stood for a while, but free's off after a few metres.

The exhaust shields, skid plates and rear set footrest hangers I manufactured for BVM at Stroud. I also changed the wheel rims and spokes for heavy duty ones supplied by Central Wheel Components at Coleshill. The original front rims were easily bent. It also had Renthal trials bars, cut back lock stops and a smaller front sprocket, all things that are seen on serious LDT Pampera's. Pete Dave Heming Motomerlin himself.

Ok, this is the very provisional plan. Two day meeting on 19th and 20th June, Venue on the Cotswold Hills somewhere near Stratford/Evesham. Six to eight sections, each with two routes to be ridden three times on a conducted basis. Satruday pm class E and D Conducted only on a pre enter basis. (I need to know that someone is actually coming prior to the day). Sunday am normal club trial for Adults and Youth A.B.C.D and E as part of the club championship, plus a new set of seperate conducted sections. The Saturday event will be for Conducted riders ONLY, an easy introduction to the new class. It will be suitable for the very youngest riders without the distraction of riders on larger machines. I will post further details nearer the event but would be very interested in hearing from people who might like to attend this event. Pete

I've just got back from our club meeting and a couple of our members rode in this event. Coincidentaly, they both mentioned the issue of double subs and the subsequent queues, however they also said that the section severity, organisation and the venue were really good. For our club trials, I always put in one or two double sections as it means that I need to find less observers, if (IF) I manage to get enough volunteers then I do put two people on the double, if I don't get enough (which is often the case) then I don't have to scrap the section as one observer can do both.

I'm really jealous of the quality of the pictures in the thread, I just can't get them clear. I've tried auto and the sport settings but that doesn't seem to help. I used two camera's at the Colmore, took 300 shots and had about 15 I could use. I know they are rubbish, I just don't know why. Any adive welcome. Pete

Just got back from planning a few sections with the eldest daughter. Whilst we were there she met a little buddy on a push bike who's going to get an Oset soon. This might just work!

Would also help the penetrating oil get in if you leant the bike over and made a funnel for the oil with some duct tape and an old plastic bottle withthe bottom cut off.

Still trying to work out the peanutbutter analogy.
