  1. Still think it would have worked better on APRIL 1st
  2. That would have been good on Aril 1st Atom
  3. Rotory polishing mop with three grades of polish and a dusting of lime. It never ceases to amaze me how effective these kits are for making an alloy look like a sheet of glass. But what a bl**dy mess it makes inthe garage! Here's ONE
  4. Generally speaking I think they are al as bad as one another, however I have to agree with you on this one Atom. Petition Signed.
  5. I can remember having a test ride on one way bike in, 1989 (or so), it felt heavy and ungainly then, so imagine how big it will seem compared to modern stuff now. It was a new bike so I can't comment on the reliablility side of it.
  6. Just what I said, but better put.
  7. We run a round of the Novogar Championship and if 18 entries turned up in one envelope, they would start the trial in consequtive numerical order. Entries in order of receipt; that might look odd but there would be nothing sinister about it at all. Maybe this is what happened???
  8. The Stourbridge club returned to Howards Wood near Kidderminster for the first time in ten years on Saturday and laid out a superb ten section course on the steep tree lined banks in the wood. Always trusted to provide a sensible course, scores looked set to be on the low side until a black cloud appeared on the horizon and hail stones started to fall. After just a few minutes the storm passed leaving the ground covered in ice. As the hail stones started to thaw, the sections became altogether more difficult. Indeed a number of off-cambered banks that had been no trouble a few minutes earlier were next to impossible. I suspect that the winner of the trial will be the person who completed the most sections before the storm as it certainly was 'a trial of two halves' my lap scores went: Lap 1: Four Lap 2: One Hail stones Lap 3: Thirty Three Lap 4: Thirty Typically no sooner than the damage had been done, the sun came back out and the afternoon was restored to perfect weather. Thanks very much to Jeff Wells and the Stourbridge team for providing us with yet another excellent trial and the observers who stood at their posts during the heavy down-pour. I'll post the results when they come in. Pete
  9. How did you get on at Howards Wood? How many laps did you do before the hail stones came down?
  10. Check the operating arm on the clutch pivot (on top of the gear box) is ok. These can fail making the lever feel wrong.
  11. Welcome to TC. It would help if you could give an idea of the type of events that you enter as a 300 Gas Gas often suits a very different rider to a 280. Personally, when I tried one, I found the 280 to be no good at all for my limited ability, it just got me into trouble... but I only ride club over 40 events. For me the 250 is more than enough.
  12. .......we are going to a dance!!
  13. A section in some ditches?
  14. Don't miss out on the chance of a lifetime, offers this good don't come up everyday!
  15. The Stourbridge event at Howards Wood will be a good one to ride if you are a bit out of practice, I've got some LDT's coming up so I'm going to enter on my DRZ400 trail bike this week. The Evesham club now put on three routes (as do we at Stratford) so you'll be ok at theirs on 19th April. Turn up and take a look at the sections, if you don't like the look of the harder routes, you can just ride around for fun on the C route and enjoy the day.
  16. Welcome to TC, the best way to get into trials i to buy Trials & Motocross News Magazine from the news agents on Friday, take a look in the back for events that are on and pop along to one that is local to you. You will soon track down the Sec of the meeting who will be more than happy to sign you up as a club member for a few pounds and sign the affiliation (licence) form that you can download from the ACU web site. The club sec will sign your affiliation form, send that to the ACU (trials doen't need to fill in the medical part of the form, that's for speed events) with a cheque for
  17. I did a Google search on the vin number and.... you can take a look at the picture of the actual car HERE.
  18. Well spotted, yes it did indeed have the solid footrests fitted last Thursday, the motor is now out and the brackets for folding pegs are being welded in place. Cheers for the tip off.
  19. What a pleasant suprise to find the new look ACU SportMoto magazine waiting in the letter box today. The new size and the superbly written articles combine to make a magazine that really is worth having. I have to admit that I was not a fan of the old magazine and considered it to be a waste of licence/affiliation payers money, but this is good. Well done ACU. One small point for the next issue..... don't spoil it with too many pictures of JP
  20. Work out a section and ride it until I can clean it, then put in a tighter turn or a bigger step and keep at that until I can get the best score that I can. Then I try it in different gears to see if the result changes. If you practice something enough it will become second nature: Unconcious-Competence.
  21. Go up a couple of teeth onthe front sprocket to give you more speed.
  22. Well done to Dibs. It'll be interesting to read Dougies report on the trial, I see that he cleaned the first lap and then just had lost two fives on the second, which cost him dearly.
