    Lanyard Fix

I tumbled off a drop last year and the tether got snagged on the bike,it stretched and snapped,if it had been a boot lace possibly could have injured my wrist or pulled the bike down on top of me,just something to think about when you make a stronger tether.

    SWM Modifications

First, sorry for the dirty bike, has just done Trialsmaster duty and got parked into the corner as I needed a bit of a break in thinking about trials... I actually kinda like the narrower side to side width as it allows easier access to the end of the footpeg as I lean the bike. wouldn't mind a bit more for and aft width but also like the look of stock pegs so just not worrying about it right now.

    SWM Modifications

Instead of welding on the chromoly I made some plates from mild steel to relocate the pegs. Didn’t want to go radically back myself but it would be simple to make multiple plates to experiment with different positions. I utilized the stock footpegs for kicker clearance. Oh,and don’t go so low on the peg position that the saddle contacts your leg above the knee when you lean the bike into turns as it will pull your body inside the tire contact patch.
  4. By the looks of it it appears you will be punching scores next weekend rather than riding it.
  5. Picked up a RL250 a bit back for a future project and wondering if it would benefit from a longer header pipe? It runs very smoothly but I like a rorty engine that jumps with a slight twist of the throttle,I know that's contrary to common Trials theory but I have a SWM to ride when I need traction in adverse conditions. I had a 240 Fantic and never felt like it was too Zappy and find that type of power fun. The Zook seems to be soft down low then comes on in the mid range. Haven't had time to check the timing or compression(Feels good to kick through) It looks like every other trials bike has a longer header pipe than the Suzuki's short U-turn.
  6. A exhaust that has carboned up will choke the top end, possibly to the point of causing detonation. Symptom is a loud exhaust as it clogs all the "pores" of the silencer and creates a 4 foot straight pipe effect with no exhaust tuning. 2 strokes do not care for straight pipes longer than 10-12 inches. What year 290? I have put the later model repackable exhaust on a 2011 and a 2013,requires the matching header also.
  7. I had this bike out on loan to a buddy for a couple of years, just got it back a few months back. It will get a good going through before the next riding season. I intend to replace the cables and work with the brakes some more. The suspension is still very slow, filled the forks with Redline Like Water buy haven't had it out since.I bought it some OZO shocks from InMotion but they are too slow to suit me also. I will try some things to get the OZO to work before abandoning them.

  9. Have you ridden any trials? I lost all interest in street riding after I started riding trials!
  10. There are a zillion XR200 in the world
  11. You should only work on that old junk on rainy days,we had another great ride tonight and you coulda been there on that awesome 321,that's all I have to say...
  12. We run our Fun Trials events as "Gate" trials http://www.wmta.us/scoring.html This allow riders to chose their own challenges,it's a weatherproof trials as you can just choose easier gates if weather is foul. Riders can't get upset with Trialsmasters nearly as much, and it makes for simple observing, any dab and no score for you in that section. Theoretically could be a safer trials but human nature seems to make guys just have to try the tough stuff (-:
  13. Mr Backwards! I saw him jump 5 cars sitting backwards when I was a kid. let me tell you, that Triumph was thye sweetest sounding motorcycle of all time!. He could flat track it backwards too. I believe he used to hillclimb it backwards also but I never saw that show.
  14. any frame without tubes under the engine needs a cylinder head stay to regain strength.
  15. I had Lasik done earlier this year at 57 yrs old, absolutely made trials riding much more enjoyable. I carry some readers in my toolbag as I can't see squat close up to fix anything, but I had lost my near vision anyway so at least I have distance vision now. Money very well spent!
  16. Recommend just swapping that focus for a van asap (-:
  17. Had a flat on my 2016,puntured new tire, slipped my 2010 rear wheel right on,rode fine except for hardened rear tire killing traction. Wavy brake disc no problem
  18. Dellorto carbs are no problem to get dialed in,all sorts of jetting is readily available. Dellorto direct in usa can get most anything,or the Dellorto place in UK. Where in USA are you?
  19. Break it up into to steps, start by just practicing the wheelie into the rock/log/whatever and it's ok to stop with the front brake,do the wheelie early enough that the front wheel drives into the obstacle. Get the feel of the fork compressing into the log/rock and rebounding, that's when you give the bike some help and jump yourself up and then push the bars forward.

    Swm Rear Silencer.

MX silencer 25mmx250mm long really woke up my 320TL,not really loud, has beefy sound. I did really like the quietness of the stock system,If just trail riding I would stick with quiet.
  21. 15 Pics from World Round Texas just got posted in my Facebook "Trials Riders" group,surely on of the Fantic pics is of yer bike (-;

    2016 St 250

Haven't ridden my 2016 250 enough to get the filter dirty but in every other aspect it is a step above the rear tank bikes, turning at full lock it just feels totally composed, engine pulls noticeably stronger(Thinking about adding flywheel, but will put in more time on it first) Suspension better than a 2011 or 2010(I don't have enough time on 2012-2015 to fairly judge) Very happy I upgraded(And was able to pass my 2011 250 on to a new rider)
  23. Geez,Your supposed to invite me along when you are doing some Interesting trials related activity! BTW,SWM Jumbo is going to turn out to be a sweet trials bike, got it running and rode it some in the yard, feel good about spending money on it now.
