I'm in the process of swapping from an Amal throttle to a Domino throttle on my Majesty 175. However the original cable already fitted, is slightly too long and I've run out adjustment at the carb end. Anybody know a correct length cable to mate a TY175 Carb to a Domino throttle (I don't want to mess about with soldering nipples) I want to buy one of the correct length - any suggestions - do Domino make one?? Venhill?? Your ideas please

Got a friend with an untidy TY Mono. Had a little look over it the other day and the front end is way to hard, its got two different spring types fitted: one nice and soft, with a spacer like the manual and the other with no spacer that feels like its from a MXer. Any ideas on what could be used as a replacement ?

Rebuilding a TY 250 and have found that it has the wrong flywheel. It is way light. I was going to machine a weight to press on but I need to know about how much more weight I need to add. If anyone knows what the stock flywheel should weigh or has a stock one to get rid of I would like to know. Thanks Aaron

I'm currently in the middle of rebuilding a 92 TY250 pinkie, the bike has done hardly anything at all covering most of it's 490 miles on the road. So with this in mind, will the shock require recharging? Is the nitrogen just to keep the oil cool?, and will it have escaped over time? I should have tried it before I split it but I'm unable to ride at the moment due to an injury. I have access to nitrogen up to the required (I believe) 170 psi but as they're is no schrader valve I can't charge it. Is it possible to fit a schrader valve or will it be a case of sending it off to Falcon? Any help appreciated.

HIya...a post on behalf of a mate!!.. any help greatly appreciated. The front wheel rim on his TY250 mono (1983 we think) is badly rotted. Its a 32 spoke drum brake. Just wondered. We will try to look around for another used 32 spoke rim here that might suffice...but were also thinking maybe its worth going the whole hog and trying to fit a different wheel+hub altogether..one with a disc even. Any ideas on this....(Oh! and as is often the case..this will be done with as little money spent as possible..!!)

I am currently looking at a late 80's TY and have had no luck locating any maintenance or parts manuals(microfiche acceptable) for the air-cooled monoshock years on this side of the pond(Canada US) and was wondering if anyone could direct me to a shop or someone that has these manuals available. Please forward any information and contact details to dirtmudnroost@yahoo.ca Cheers

Simple question for you knowledgeable Yamaha Guys. Am I correct in thinking that the later model aircooled TY250' Yamahas had disk brake front ends? I know there was a Talon conversion available for earlier ones. What diameter are the forks on these bikes? Are they any good (the forks & brakes not the bikes)? and finally if someione is feeling very kind what is the length of the forks?

Hi there ......... I was glad to see a couple of posts on the site from last year regarding the Whitehawk TY models. A friend of mine (without internet access) has just got his son an 80cc version on approval, but is concerned about the lack of spares availability and suitable tyres. I was just wondering if anyone had managed to track down any sources or further info? Mick Whitlock of Hampshire and JK Hirst of Bradford were mentioned ........... were they ever tracked down and tested?? Any help would be much appreciated via the site or to stride.environmental AT virgin.net . Best wishes, Pink Panther

Hello I wonder if any of the good and the wise have any ideas? Towards the end of a trial last weekend the bike (92 Pinky) started to tickover erraticaly, almost as if it had an air leak. I have checked the thing over and apart from a dry foam air filter (now oiled) all looks well. Any thoughts gratefully received! As an afterthough, anybody know what I can stick the saddle back on with? Thanks, Mike

Can anyone help? I'm in the process of stripping and modding a TY that I've recently bought, I've shortened the inlet manifold and lightened the flywheel and want to go the 270 route as I've done it before and was impressed with the results. The trouble is that I don't have the correct size rings for the piston I want to use, I have an IT piston part No 4V5-11636-00 2nd oversize 0.50 but no 0.50 rings. I have a piston and ring set of 0.75 but don't want to bore this big if I can help it as it doesn't leave much liner left. So can anyone tell me where I could get a set of rings Part No 2x7-11610-20 (161243 ) . Cheers

Which Oil is best for these older motors? Currently using Castrol TTS, but is it too good? Mixing at 50:1..........is this about right or could I go up to 60 or 70 :1 on a better oil. Seemed to run a bit smoky @ 50:1 Also what's the best gearing set-up - Rear is currently on a 48t. However I seem to remember somebody mentioning 9/51t or was I imagining it??

I have the white framed model of TY. Its fitted with the monoshock with seperate reservoir. The rubber hose is too short to reach the bracket provided for it. I recently purchased the correct monoshock for my bike off Ebay. I swapped them over and now I can clamp the reservoir to the correct part of the frame. Only problem is that the replacement shock is'nt damping quite as well as the one which was on the bike when I got it. I,m thinking of keeping the original (wrong shock) and fitting it with the reservoir and hose from the other shock. Can anyone tell me the procedure for changing the reservoir and hose? I,m not keen to just take it off as gas/oil/someth…

I have noticed a lack of compression and a fair bit of knocking from the top end of the engine and this morning removed the head and cylinder barrel for inspection. The bore measures 67.98mm and the piston 67.73. I measured this with a digital caliper. I could only get an accurate measure of the bottom part of the bore as there seems to be a part of the top of the bore not touched by the piston. This impedes the prongs of the caliper from finding a accurate measurement. The piston and bore look to be in good order, apart from the gap of aprox 0.20 between piston and bore. The piston does seem rather slack on the small end bearing. I will definitely replace this pa…
