Just found this one. I have removed the seats and tank. The tank has lots of rust inside. Is there any way to save it, maybe a coating or something? Anyway its a long term project, my goal is to use this one for comp and keep my other one, which is 100% stock and original, as a looker.

Hey all, I have two '74 TY 250's one with frame/engine VIN that match (the full 434-000245) and one with the full frame vin (434-015952) and no number stamped on the motor case pad. It has the factory raised fins in that area (hasn't been modified)- just no stamping. Both of these bikes are original - no indication that they were ever used for more than recreational riding. Also, the barrel on the one with no numbers also has fins all the way around (above the exhaust port) while the other has a gap in the fins in that area. both of these are the full wide case early models. I got my TY175, now dubbed "Pinkie Pie", back in February but it took until last Friday 'till I got it back into one piece ... and even then only because I was entered into the Downland trial today! I didn't manage to finish* but did have a lot of fun, and I love this bike So, phase 1 has been Majesty-ised frame, lengthenned swing arm, steeper yokes, fatbar handlebars, Rock Shocks (very plush!), SM and Wes exhaust (very loud!), and lots of little fixed bits from where the previous owner didn't use any grease on anything. As in many clutch baskets there are rubber bushings with in that help with the engagement. Well one of my TY's has had a pretty loose clutch basket. I have searched high and low for a rebuild but alas I could not find anything. Never to be deterred by a challenge I decided to give this idea a go. I can't vouch for its durability but here goes nothing. Preface: I silicone mold parts. I can't stand paying someone for something i can do myself. With that being stated I decided to try silicone molding my own customer bushings in the clutch basket. I recently put on a slightly larger tire on the rear of my 1974 ty250 and noticed the tire rubbing on the chain gard. After looking closely it appeared the rear sprocket was out board of the engine sprocket ( not aligned). Also the tire is not centered with the forks. I have two ty 250s the other is the same so I don't think it is damaged. I built a couple bushings to move the rear wheel to the right now it is aligned with the engine sprocket and centered in the forks. I haven't had a chance to give it a good test ride as it has not stopped snowing the last three months. So I'm curious if any have noticed this?

Is it worth loosing the back mudguard loop, a la Majesty? Is there anything needed to brace the two sides in lieu of it? I kinda like having it for dragging the back about, but I'm also keen to shave some weight ...

Hi all , I just bought a ty 80 home to fix up so my boys can ride good old twinshock events w/ me . a few stupid ?'s that I don't know the answer to , as when the ty80 's came out I already had a tl125 and never rode one until a few moments ago !!!!!!!!!!!!! The frame and engine #s match 451-002195 , Can any one tell me what year this is , 80a , 80b etc ? And the real stupid ? .... are they only four speeds w/ neutral at the bottom , or do I need to split the cases and check it out for bent shift forks etc. ? Thanks for any and all responses ... I bought a ty 250 mono today and am trying to work out what year it is, and someone has been modifying the cylinder i'll post a few pics let me know whats been done and why??

just in the middle of full rebuild and has anyone got advice on foot rest mods been reading a few articles on the web and most say back an inch and down a inch anybody done this mod to they bike any advice would be grateful before a start cutting the rest mounts off

got my ty running great, only problem after about 2 hours use it starts missfiring then stops, no spark, change the plug and off it goes again no problem for about another 2 hours, iv got the mix right by the colour of the plug, its just had a rebore and crank seals, exhaust is a new wes system so not blocked, dont think any electrics are getting wet as the only wire to the coil is covered in silicon sealant so is the plug cap, anyone got any ideas!!!!!

As purchased, my TY175 clutch worked OK but had a some drag and was abrupt compared to a modern bike when released even with a lever arm extension. At some point in time there was a lot more drag and it became more abrupt. It would even stick when riding such that when you pull in the clutch and there was a delay before disengagement even when hot. I sanded the steel plates but I forgot which roughness of paper used. I filed the clutch baskets mostly flat but not totally flat. I also removed some burrs found on the ears of the fiber plates. All plates looked flat. It was improved and maybe similar to when I purchased the bike but after a small number of rides is b…

Hello, Did my first trial in almost a year at the weekend and really enjoyed it ... my TY is spot on, aside from one annoying characteristic - it is light on the front and tends to rear up on hill climbs etc. I fitted the twinshock shop triple clamp which helped a bit, as did raising the bars 20mm ........ Not mad keen on doing the swing arm extension modification. Any other tricks to overcome this? I tried my Mates Bultaco, and that felt really planted and only raised the wheel when it was intended. I have put quite a bit of effort into getting the bike right, but this fault really has me thinking that I need a different bike. cheers Andrew

Hello to all. I 'll try and explain whats going on the best I can. I tried to get out to one of the spots that I like to play in. From my house to this particular place I have to use diddy little lanes and dirt tracks,lovely. Get to the junction just before me playground, bike stalls. Start bike 'its engine pitch has gone higher' pull away, 2 lurches, engine dies. Try this a few times all the same. So I sit in the grass and have a bit to eat and try again. Same thing ,but this time if I paddle along the engine picks up and Iam off. Iam gettin moisture coming out of the end of me exhaust also. Cheers Squid.

I have just been reading an item in a book called The world of motorcycles about Mick Andrews, printed in 1977. A bit of history etc about his trials riding up to that date. At the end it says he is helping to develope a 4 stroke trials bike with Yamaha which will be popular in a few years. Anybody shed any light on this? Thanks.

Hi, i am using my ty 125 on the road, what would the best combo sprockets be? Currently it had a 17/37 combo, and wont go more than 40 mph and combletelly flat, can manage to get into 5th gear but not in 6th.
