Morning all Ive just purchased a newly rebuilt ty250r mono 1985 Guess what she's pinking..ie irregular knock top end at low to medium revs..... it wasn't when I went for test ride, just hunting a bit, but guys at shop said it needed to run ritcher so raised the needle .. to the top..by lowering the circlip to the bottom notch, messed with the mixture screw and tick over..and it seemed to run ok, more responsive Took it for a spin once home and found it knocking (not all the time) Ive since popped the needle back a notch and it kinda improved it .. I wish to put the needle back to centre notch as original and start again... but would like to confirm w…

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie to Trials Central would be very grateful for a little advice. I've been riding on the road for over 30 years and now that I live in Bulgaria I'm looking to buy a trials bike to have some fun in the hills near where I live. No competition riding, just weekend fun. I currently ride a 650cc dualsport but it's just too heavy offroad and I don't want a motoX bike. I will have to cover 20 or so miles each way on the road to get to where I can really use the bike so it has to be road reg which means lights and indicators, and something with a reasonable seat. I'm thinking of a Yamaha TY250, twinshock or mono ( I remember from my youth that they ca…

I have a Teikie carburator which I am positive is the stock carburetor as I bought the bike new. It is black. I would like to locate a carb rebuild kit or if not available locate an original carb but need to know the internals are good as if I can't find parts it would be a problem. For some reason the guy who rebuilt mine lost the needle valve Anu ideas would be helpfull Geof Phillips

  6. Hi. I have been eyeing the WES exhaust systems, both the single unit to replace the stock silencer, the two piece mid section with separate silencer, or just the silencer I was wondering the benefits of the different systems, and other than being much lighter, are there differences internally from the OEM muffler? Does the replacement muffler noticeably quiet the system down? Is a new exhaust required as well to fit the new system? Sorry for the basic questions, but I’ve seen a lot of them fitted to TY’s but was wondering if they really made a big difference TIA! 🍻

For those who are interested there is a Whitehawk frame on ebay, seller doesn't know what it is for. I think it is for a 175 TY . Not sure, but those on here that know will know. (If that makes sense) Type in TY Whitehawk you'll find it. PS If I am wrong I stand corrected.

New seals are arriving on Friday for a Saturday install. popped the stator off with no difficulty, old seal was sitting crooked on the crank, when removed the back was pretty worn and the spring was half out of the seal, likely due to wear and it sitting crooked on the crank itself. Everything else looks to be in pretty good condition. I have ordered both crank seals just in case but don't have a clutch holding tool to do the clutch side seal so may have to wait, unless it can be done without removing the clutch basked....does anyone know if it can be? or does the clutch have to be pulled to get the old seal out and new one in? The clutch side seal appears to be okay as I…

A friend of mine has aquired a 320 majesty for restoration and I noticed the exhaust has a different header pipe that crosses over the cylinder head, is this normal for a 320 or has it been modified?

TY250/350 Monoshock: Loosening the bottom bolt, on the outside bottom of fork leg, also requires holding the inside damper rod, apparently at the bottom of the inside of damper rod. Top of damper rod doesn't have any visible hex ID. Manual and parts book refer to a special Yam tool part number (blank stare at the local dealer) but no idea of what it grabs into. Is it a hex, square, a 4 prong, or what? If I knew what size and shape I can weld something onto a long rod and reach down in there. Catch 22: can't get it apart without knowing what it looks like, can't see it until its apart. Any ideas or size and shape help? tks, kcj

  14. Hello again. About a month ago I had a problem with me carb on a ty 125. The float was blocked thus flooding me engine. Thanks to various people on this site alls working dandy now. Its just the first time I took it out I had this muck dribbling out the exhaust. I assummed it was just excess fuel passing through the system. Anyway I've taken the exhaust off to decoke and there was quite alot of this treacle. Please tell me its not me autolube system needs tinkering with as I've looked at me manuel and it looks a bit beyond me. Cheers Squid.

Hi all I hope there is somebody out there who can help me, I have several TY 175's that I have had for about 10yrs now one is completely in bits and the other I have never had it running properly in all the time I have had it, it has plenty of compression, been de-coked, new reed valve, plug, points, condenser, crank seals,I have 3 carbs and have cleaned and tried them all. When I got the bike it took about 20 kicks to start it and it was very sluggish and wouldnt tick over, I progressed from this to the bike going into melt down which was a bit frightening, flat out and not being able to stop it, plug must have been glowing as taking cap off didnt help, panic panic sa…

I have started restoring a 1975 TY80B that I recently purchased. First on the list is to repair the bash guard area which has been damaged and badly welded up. I'm not fully sure how to approach it at this point, but I'm thinking I need to cut out the guard plate, then try to reform the crushed C-section pressings on either side. To reform them I intend to get some round bar the same diameter as the inside of the C-section, bend it to match the bend to the down-tube, then heat up the C-section and press or hammer the bar into the section to reform it. Then i may weld some tube in to strengthen it. After that I use a bolt on Aluminium skid plate. Has anyo…
