Greetings, just bought a 76 ty250 fitted with a toko flat slide carb, it wont idle properly races then drops right off, is using twice as much fuel as my previous ty 250 with a standard carb, does have plenty of top end, AND does pull well from down low. has got the fly wheel weights. Plug is very black, running it on 50 /1 motul mix with 98 octane unleaded. is there any one who would know the needle and jet sizing for these carbs / bikes ? Clubman A rider . Any thoughts on this ? Need to replace the fork seals on my sons TY175 Majesty problem is holding the internals while unscrewing the allen bolt at the bottom of the slider Is it possible to make a special tool for this or is there another way

I am looking at putting new footpegs on my TY 250 D; '77 or '78 I think. Are there any that will bolt on or do I have to get into welding. Thanks in advance for any help / advice. Dave

Been riding Fantic T/S' for ages, and have a TY 250 mono that seems to work just like a modern bike, so imagine my supprise when I got a really nice majesty 250, wich seems as flat as a pancake, spoke to a few Yam boys, and was imformed they are all like that?? well are they?? Dont get me wrong , it seems to climb anything, but you have to hang on and wait, not confidence inspiring. How does yours go????

So I have been told to shave down the ty175 flywheel weight. Then i have been told to remove it. Then told to not touch it. So what has been done out there? Removal Shaved or left alone? --Biff

My TY175 owning friend needs a side stand bracket....the one that is welded to the swinging arm. He tells someone was making them new a while back but I can't find any on the web....can anyone help? man thanks

My kick starter has cracket at the pivot. I tried two times to weld it and it never holds, Anyone has succesfully welded one? It's a ty175

A recent post in this forum mentioned that John Shirt had success with improving the fork action on TY250 twinshock forks by using smaller oil holes in the damper rods. My TY250B and TY175B both have TY250 twinshock front ends fitted with B&J Racing springs but otherwise are standard. The B&J springs made a great improvement in the fork action of both bikes but they still don't seem to be as good as well set up Spanish bike forks of the same era. I weigh 88kg and use 5WT in the 175 and 10 WT in the 250. Oil level in both bikes is 125mm from the top when bottomed. Does anyone know the size and location of the holes that worked well for John Shirt?

Hi all ... I was just out in my shop with my boys talking trials bikes ... As some of you may know I just did a ground up on a 74 ty80 that I obtained for my youngest son ... And of course my middle child (2yrs older) parked his 89?xr 100 after he WAY overrevved it and got it to bend some valves ... But this thought came into my feeble mind ! What if I used the XR wheels and forks and built my own whitehawk TY80 ! I'd have to lengthen the swingarm abit to clear the 16' back wheel , and a little creative bearing application and the forks should work ... And the fresh / tweeked ... ty80 motor has more than enough to spin the larger wheels ... AND chen shin make trials ti…

Hi Guys, just in the process of restoring my 86 ty mono, It's been fitted with a rear Talon hub with a tubeless akront rear rim which I'm keeping, the std Yam DID front rim has rotted from the inside out and I would like to get a new rim to match the rear Akront. I notice that Central wheel co in brum do Morad rims but are they the same style as the old Akront rims? if not where can I buy a 32 hole front rim to suit?. Thanks in advance.

Hello. I would like to hear from anyone who as any information about the Works Yamaha OW 10 engine. I would also like to share the information that I already know, I know that there are less than 10 in existence, the casings are Magnesium lots of the internal components are Titanium and the clutch lever is on top of the engine. I think my engine seriously needs rebuilding now, just wondering how much it would cost roughly? Say if it needed new big and little ends, main bearings + seals, new piston and a rebore? It's had a brand new clutch at some point which is in really good nick, I rebuilt it and all the friction plates, smooth plates and springs are actually oversized according to the manual, so it doesn't slip at all! I gearbox is sweet aswell, changes really smoothly.

Have to put in a note about the '74, TY250. Rode a 32 section Trial this weekend. Both modern and vintage bikes. The TY never missed a beat. Started 1st kick every time. Used all 5 gears as it was quite a distance between a couple of sections, no shifting issues. Had plenty of power for all the climbs, brakes worked well on the downhills. In the hands of a good rider I can see where this could be a very competitive machine. Alan

I recently bought a ty250c and the decal on the heat shield was changed to "trials 300". Was there a enginge mod that would boost it to 300? Thanks! Steve

Hello. Here we go again. Right. Im putting me refreshed exhaust back on. The gaskets the same diameter as the mouth of the exhaust pipe, so when I offer it up, trying to get the bolt through the support is not possible. I've been jiggling and staring at it for about 10 minutes. Please, what am I doing wrong. Cheers Squid

hi any one know the bearing number for the headstock bearings on a ty 80 just dismantled ours and balls everywhere wondering if i can get them in a complete race cheers
