Hi could anyone tell me the right gearing on the front and rear sprockets, because at the moment the bike appears to be running on when you slow down on acceleration, going into sectons,....or is it the novice rider

Hello, Sending an open question; Is any one out there interested of producing a batch of ally repackable middle silencers for TYR? Even supply of stock diam or wider replacement pipes are interesting. (Millers is offcource better than old cabonised dented crap.. ) P

For those who are interested there is a Whitehawk frame on ebay, seller doesn't know what it is for. I think it is for a 175 TY . Not sure, but those on here that know will know. (If that makes sense) Type in TY Whitehawk you'll find it. PS If I am wrong I stand corrected.

My ty pinky is a bit on the soft side on the front forks and rear damper. It has gas in it and was wondering how much to put in the front and where to i can sort out the rear one. What grade fork oil should i put in them.

I am thinking of buying a 1986 Yamaha TY 350s. I had three of them in the eighties and loved them. I talked to my local Yamaha dealer and he indicated that he could no longer get many parts for the motorcycle, including the parts required to perform a top end and clutch. I was wondering if parts for this motorcycle are still available? I live in the USA. Thanks, Eric

My friends ty250 "74" will not shift from 5th when hot...? I am working on the bike with out a manual. If anyone has a manual and can shoot me some spec's on the clutch it would help alot! The bike shifts good when cold. Thank you

hello hope someone out there can help i have a 125 majesty that i would like to ride on the road do some long distance trials etc. can anyone tell me how i can date my frame, the engine is not a problem as its just the yamaha unit. ive read all the posts on registring twin shocks , new bikes but there doesnt seem to be one with this particular problem . read the post that says mr shirt isnt very helpful as well. many thanks. regards john

Hi folks just wondering if anyone can help. I have not much experience of working on motorbikes and I thought the old ty (1985) would be a good place to start. Well the problem is I replaced the wheel bearings on the back wheel. Then I found after a few miles they were as bad again. I contacted the bearing supplier and they sent me another set. I opened these and I checked them and there appears to be some movement if you hold the centre and wiggle the outside. I am just wondering if they are meant to be like this or if they are giving me duff bearings. Anyone have a clue as most people I've spoke to never check what they are like before they put them in.

My TY175 is currently running 52 teeth rear and 13 teeth front. 4:1 ratio. I know standard is 51/13. I am happy with how the bike goes for the type of riding I do (twinshock trials). My sprockets are getting near the end and I am wondering if I replace them with a 48 teeth rear and 12 teeth front (still 4:1 ratio) will the shorter chain and wheelbase make any noticeable difference? My guess is that the few links less in the chain won't be noticeable? Shorter wheelbase may affect things but how? Sprocket wear will be greater due to less teeth to share the work? Is a 48T available anyway? What are you running on yours? Am I over thinking this? Comments, advice, et…

Hello Just brought a TY 175 and have a couple of questions I hope people can help with: 1) When I change gears with the bike up on a stand and rotating the rear wheel by hand the lever sometimes sticks (i.e. it doesn't return to center). Pretty sure the return spring is OK. Any ideas if this is a known problem (or a problem at all) and if so what is the fix? 2) Also, what is s good transmission oil, I am used to putting ATF in my Beta, does this work for the old stuff ? I havn't been around for a while, as I havn't touched my old TY for about 6 months! And before that it was about 3/4 months. I had it out yesterday, I'd forgotten how much better than modern bikes these things are! You can jump about and generally thrash around without fears of snapping something. My Bike. That is what my bike once looked like, it looks pretty tatty now, it's definately crying out for some attention. The engine seems fine, it revs up and down freely, doesn't misfire, smoke, or bang too much, so I'm planning on stripping it right back and mending all the broken and worn bits, but leaving the engine for now. Reason is I have a ty80 that I am considering selling. It was repainted red by previous owner. Needs crank bearings and seals Needs fork seals. Think it is 74 or 75. Everything else in good working order. Hi Ive just picked up yet another TY250 Mono as a parts donor, has a couple of interesting modifications, wondered if they are familiar to anyone. The front end has a disc brake conversion using a brembo caliper, it appears to be clamped to the fork leg. I assume this is aftermarket as surely a Yamaha version would have a mounting point on the forks. Also the back end has a disc brake conversion as well, the gut I bought it from said he'd owned the bike for 10 years and it was like that when he got it - he bought it from a trials bike specialist in the North East who told him the back end was from a Gas Gas. Sorry all, I know this fault has been spoken about before but was just wondering if somebody could just give me a little more info. My TY175 cuts out when hot, no spark, i have noticed it will not cause any problems on a cold day, but on a warm day after a few sections it will just cut out,let it cool for 5 mins and then your away again.So far i have replaced the HT coil,the wiring,points and condenser.Its the ignition source coil which i have some doubts about.I have measured the resistance and its about 1.8 ohms cold and rises to about 3 ohms when you heat it up with a hair dryer.Not sure what else there is to check but somebody did suggest that the condenser although n…

I`m just going over a TY80 that I got for my kids to learn trials and have a couple of questions about some of the things of how they work. The first thing I want to know about is the rear brake pedal. Its seems to either be hitting the engine casing when not being used, or hitting the small angled bar that comes off the frame when trying to use the brake. There isnt a lot of room for travel, so whats the angled bar for ???? Whats its purpose ?? The other thing I want to know about is how the rear brake set up is meant to be, The way its set up is, having the thin rod connecting from the back of the brake pedal to the actuating lever on the rear wheel over the top of…

This was a piece I wrote last November as part of a forum entitled "Majesty Kickstart Lever". At the time I had no idea how to attach photo's. But I do now, so hear we go! I have just finished modifying and fitting a DT125 kickstart lever to fit my original TY250 kickstart lever boss and it looks very good, though I say it myself. The DT125 lever is only about 5" long and so gives a good couple of inches plus clearance under the exhaust when closed and looks a lot less bulky than the original. I had to ream out the kickstart lever and turn down the diameter of the boss spigot to get them to fit. I also cut the spigot down, drilled and tapped it to hold the lever on th…
