Morning all. I have a 1977 TY50 which I am sorting out for the kids to start riding on. I am quite an experienced mechanic but the front fork on this bike have me a bit baffled. I want to change the fork seals but cant figure out how to split the fork, as there is no bolt on the bottom of the fork leg and I cant believe that the only thing stopping the forks coming apart is the circlip above the seals. any help would be muchly appreciated!! thanks all.

I modified last year a TY TS ( raised the motor and inclined the shock ) . When I took it apart to stoire it I noticed that the chain now sometime drag on the swingarm, so I looked at some pictures of Majesty and they seem to have some sort of guizmo to prevent that. Does anybody have a pictrue of thing. Guy

I have designed a plastic cover for TY tanks that will cover the old plastic one and make it look like new. The whole thing is simple to use and will offer protection to the tank in a fall as well. The unit itself is in three pieces and assembled around the tank. I am trying to judge the need for the product so if youe interested let me know. madproffesor@easyriders.com Thanks

Hi. Does anybody know what size tapered roller bearings replace the old race bearings in the TY 175 headstock? I can get bearings through work so thought if I could get the sizes I can get them with discount through work. Cheers Rob

I have just bought this and its got a list of illnesses , the main and really only one left, is a worn carb. I would like to replace the original TK for the equivlent Mikuni. After making some enquires it appears the dark arts of carburation are in force when it comes to this particular Yamaha. Would any kind person help me in pointing at the carb I might need, along with the relevent jet / needle sizes so I at least try and get it to run halfway right. I would love it to be a bolt on straight of the box , is this really too much to ask.. Thanks in advance

Hi, what is the status of this Yamaha TYS250F that was being used in the WTC Japan round, see: Looks surely like the discontinued Scorpa 250F but why would current WTC contenders be using such an "old" machine? Or is Yamaha readying it for sale as a Yamaha now that Scorpa dropped Yamaha engines? Cheers, Fons. ----- Yamaha TY250Z Beamish RL325 Montesa 348 MR Honda TL250

Have been having issues with fork seals not sealing for very long, inspected the chrome & there are no nicks or rust etc on them The leg that has the biggest problem definitely has noticeable movement when extended so it looks like the top of the slider is worn I'm thinking that I'll need top have them bored & bushes fitted but so far I haven't found a 34mm fork that uses bushes that I can use & the coated bushes that can be bought from bearing suppliers are either 32mm or 35mm inside diameter Any suggestions of a fork that I've overlooked or somewhere that may be able to help

Hi guys, I'm looking at doing a rebuild on a 1984 TY250S (serial #53Y - red frame/steel tank/fat seat model) which my father in law has had since new with a view to getting back into trials next season. Back in the '80s there were quite a few of us riding these bikes in Western Australia but they've pretty much all disappeared now. Due to a lack of aftermarket parts (& knowledge) back then we all rode them pretty much standard & just put up with the rattling & clanging noises the motors made. Before I do too much to the rest of the bike I want to see what can be done to sort out the top end of the engine & get it running better …

I have just obtained a very good TY175 clutch and primary drive pinion, the clutch has what looks to be a letter B engraved on the end of one of the drive teeth but I can't see anything on the drive pinion to say it matches, letter B,they could do but is there a way of checking the required amount of clearance when fitted and how much should it be?also when I rebuilt the engine some time ago I noticed that the drive pinion only covers just over half way over the teeth on the clutch basket,is this normal? Regards Andy.

Can anyone recommend where I can get my TY250A engine serviced/checked over - it seemed to run ok before I took it out for re-build but would like someone to give it a service / new points etc before I put it back in the frame. I am located in North Yorkshire England, but happy to travel for the right person.
