Does anyone know of any other rear wheel spindle that will fit a godden swing arm, as the Yamaha TY250 spindle is smaller that the slot in the swing arm and has to be bushed to fit the slot as per TY250. The bushes on my bike are knackered and are no longer available from Yamaha. I believe that there is a more modern alternative, bit cant find out what. Thanks in advance. Ps I want to use the origional ty wheel and hub.

On a ty250a. Is the spark plug wire or high tension wire replaceable? I have replaced the cap or boot and terminal on the plug end but the wire is very hard and almost brittle. My concern is does the wire "thread" on to a treaded stud like the terminal end does? I don't want to go twisting on the wire and ruin the coil if it is a permanantly fixed wire in the coil. If it is replacable is there a special type wire or will any good 7-8mm wire core wire work? Thanks! Steve

Hi Just spent the last 12 months restoring a TY175 nearly finished. Bike starts but wont rev cleanly and bangs and pops. Any ideas - i think its probably points / condenser - but electics is the only aspect of the bike I know nothing about. Can anyone give an idiots guide to replacing condenser and points and setting up correctly. Bike has has a nut and bolt rebuild including .25 rebore. It will start but seems to have an intermittent spark - hence the popping. Any one local to Skegness or Boston in Lincs who could help? - I can bring the bike to you - would be much appreciated. Thanks

I've recently started restoring a TY80 for my son and have hit a problem with the chain guide mount (or rather lack of one!) The bracket on the swingarm seems to be missing so there's nowhere to bolt the shiny new chain guide to. Could someone possibly take a photo of the area and if possible some dimensions so I can fabricate a replacement? What with that and half the welds breaking on the bash plate it's holding up getting the frame etc powdercoated and I'm working to a birthday deadline Many thanks

Any one know where I can get one of the aftermarket front sections (JK Hirst are out of stock and not sure when they will have anymore) I was thinking of asking a local company who make custom car exhaust systems to maybe look at making a stainless one for me but I would imagine a one off might be a bit pricey. If anyone else is interested?? I could get a price for a job lot of say 12 to try and get the price down. any ideas ?? Cheers Tim

Has anyone any idea if there is another model of Yamaha clutch that can be adapted to fit the TY 175, mine has wear notches and am struggling to get a replacement in good condition, bought one off flea bay and it was worse than exisiting clutch (advertised as in great ?? condition) I know that the gear can be removed and rivetted to a new basket but dont know if anyone has found aything that fits or have had succes with somehow repairing wear notches on exisiting parts. also if anyone knows where I can get some frame mods done local to Leeds (I want to steepen steering head angle but not that good with small gauge welding and not really got the right gear, I am fitting l…

I have a 1985 TY 350 that needs rings and a piston ( maybe a cylinder too). Any tips, other than parting it out would be appreciated. I realize that yamaha no longer supports this bike. I'm just wondering what other creative individuals have done to keep them running. Thanks ken

After 16 years it's back! This thing endured my father, my brother and myself without any real engine work or maintenance. It just kept going. Some of my earliest memories are of my father sitting me on the gas tank and putting around the woods. I still remember back when I was 12 or 13 and kicking it over for the first time and taking off in the woods for the rest of the day - my dad's rule was that if I was big enough to start it, I was big enough to ride it. I've spent the last 2 years slowly dismantling every piece, painting the frame, rebuilding the engine, etc. Thanks everyone. This place was a massive help. I've gone through many years of threads lo…
