Twinshock

  1. Started by loydee,

Hi after years of waiting came to try out me Fantic 200 (Back-kick model) and seems like clutch is stuck. Maybe due to standing I know but I also had some of the pushrod parts fall out a coupla years ago when I fitted an extended arm (for lightness). Just in case I fitted in wrong what is correct order please. As engine is lying on clutch side what order do you insert components down the tunnel? Thanks :-)

  2. Hi there, I have found a Fantic 240 that is being sold (212cc). It seems to be in good working order, and well kept in a dry garage (though definitely not in condition for showing!) I have never purchased a trials bike before and so want to check that I am not paying over the odds, or paying for rubbish! The seller is asking £1350. I understand that the twin shock pushes the price up, but is this too much to pay? Thanks

  3. Can anybody help me find a set of seals for the stock Marzocchi shocks on my 300 Pro? They are the ones with the fins on the bottom. I am also looking for a complete chain tensioner for the bike. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers...

Hi, I'm having a right game with my reed valve motor, replaced cdi, source coil and pick up, still rides then stops after a while. No spark. Think stator?? How much to get done at West Country Winding? Looked at a total new system from Electrex, in Oxford, not cheap though!

Hi there My son rides twinshock trials on a whitehawk 80 (and does very well, 8th at the weekend in the Scarborough 2 day in twinshock clubman !)- he also rides modern. However at 12 it's getting a little small for him (will definitely be next year) - however the step up to 125/175/200 is a bit much, I have a TL 125 and Sprite 150, both of which are a bit big. I've seen a 1990 fantic 80 big wheel, air cooled mono. Was thinking of putting a new rear subframe on and converting it to twinshock, as a next step ? Any thoughts or comments ? Cheers John

Hi, i'm going to start to tart up my Fantic 300 after the Peak classic trial this weekend, i need to paint up the motor on it, but don't want to strip it to bits. There are different views on stripping paint off spraying etc, but can anyone give me a definitive view on this? How do i get the original paint off? what type of primer do i need, if any? also what type of paint will give me a finish same as or similar to the finish already on it? Incidentally, there are 3 fins broken on barrel, they are in place held by the vibration rubber between the fins, whats best way of re fixing? araldite, or will i have to weld back on and file up? Thanks for anyone help in advanc…

Well I'd heard it was possible but saw it with my own eyes yesterday.....I wish I'd had a camera to take a snap of the guys face when he let the clutch out! Always thought this was a Villiers party trick, is it common on Fantics....can't tell you which model it was?

The rear shocks on my Fantic FM350 have lost all their damping but the springs seem OK. Do I attempt to rebuild or replace? What suppliers are there in the UK and how much should I expect to pay? Thanks.

  10. Hi all, this is my fantic that i built specificly to compete at a harder level than just the clubman route, although i did ride it in a few twinshock / pre65 trials this year, you will do well to spot all the mods, and it is 100% fantic, i now ride a TYZ as my main bike so this one is redundant :-( I would be interested in any oppinions Alan http://img87.imageshack.us/my.php?image=24102006171yg2.jpg http://img133.imageshack.us/my.php?image=24102006172mr1.jpg http://img83.imageshack.us/my.php?image=24102006173mi4.jpg http://img133.imageshack.us/my.php?image=24102006174qc0.jpg

Hello, does anyone know of a machine shop locally to Bristol or that can deal with the job or someone by post, to machine out standard top yoke bar clamps to the fat bar size, I think standards are 22mm (7/8")are and the fat bars comes in at 28.6mm (1 1/8") Prefer to go by recommendation rather than hunting around and taking pot luck!! thanks Owen

I need to replace the broken Akront bars on my Montesa Cota 348 and wonder about fatbars. Who's tried fatbars on a twinshock trials bike and what did you think? What bars and bar mounts do you recommend?

Hi Guys ! Anyone used Alkylat petrol in a fiberglas tank to stop the ethanol eating the resin ?

  15. Started by rick1,

Do any of you old timers (like me ) have a slick new way to repair fiberglass gas tanks. I have a Bultaco Sherpa tank that is leaking along the lower seem and at two spots up near the frame head stock (looks like it was damage on either side by the handlebars). The tank was lined with a Kreem type liner product which obviously wasn't working. I managed to get all that out with an Acetone rinse. Fiberglass is a thermoset type product which means you can't add more fiberglass to it after is has set and get the same strength and bond as when it was orginally setup. So I am looking for info and suggestions that folks may have on repairing tanks maybe with some other type bon…

I have a pretty nice fiberglass tank that has original paint and matches the...um...patina, shall we say, of the rest of the bike. What I've got is a very minor looking ding on top of the tank, but it weeps fuel. Anybody got any tips for this kind of repair?

Help! I have a fiberglass Bultaco 199A fuel tank that is leaking along the bottom edge seems. The tank was sealed at one point in its life with a "Kreem" type product. What is the best way to proceed in resealing the tank: a. Pour a new sealer over the existing one? b. Try and remove/disolve the old sealer? c. Apply resin to the drip edge seam and hope for the best? I poured and flushed the interior several times with Laquer Thinner, although this did a wonderful job of cleaning the tank it did not remove the sealent material. I have considered flushing with Acetone, however, I am concerned that this would eat in to the fibergla…

I need to paint two Cota 247 bodies. I have done it in the past but results were mixed. I want to do this right and finish off with a very hard, fuel proof, KBS Diamond clear coat. But before I get their I need to use the right pre-coat and top coat. I would appreciate suggestions for both pre-coat that will give me a well attached base that I can sand to a good finish and then a sound top coat.
