Ok., for discussion, what would be the pros and cons for both machines? Consider that both bikes have had a full rebuild and also have all required frame mods done etc. Heavily built rider 200lbs (90kgs) This is code for overweight ๐

Hi guy's i thought i'd start a thread on hot tip's for restoration! as i know a lot of you out there are doing up pre-65 and twinshocks! This would be to everyones benefit helping along a restoration , so heres the first tip, when youve got that old trials bike back home and its looks like its been dragged through a hedge backwards a few times, get a handfull of wire wool and squirt baby oil (yes dont laugh) all over the grimy stuff and rub it well in , you'll find that this will clean up the bike a treat and wiped down with a rag with the same stuff will protect it! ive just done this to a pair (wire wool) akronts and they've come up a treat! everything else i tried …

This may annoy Mr Nixon(sorry) but am just wondering how much the CCM trials bike he has advertised is worth. It is a very impressive looking machine. I would ask him myself but he says he doesnt want anyone to enquire by mail. I really like the look of the TL200/250 as well. If this deemed to be out of order could the moderators please remove as I dont want to cause any offence.

I was given a Montesa Cota 200 for my birthday about 6 years ago by my Uncle. The bike was in 'ok' condition but was abit hard for me to ride when i was only ten so it went back into the shed. It was there until summer this year when i decided to try and ride it - bad idea. It went very well for a while, but then the engine suddenly started rattling alot. The bike therefore pobably needs an engine rebuild to find the problem. Gearbox is fine and so is everything else exept wheel and swingarm bearings etc, t just needs tidying up. I got a new Beta at christmas and the bike is cluttering up the workshop so I want to get rid of it. Unforturnately this is all I know ab…

i decided to try to get the dents out of my beamish tank tonite. my mate came over, we blocked up th petrol tap hole, fitted the air hose to the petrol cap breather, then i went to make a cuppa. when i got back, my mate is standing there with a sheepish look, and what looks like a yellow football. he just let rip with the compressor tap and promptly heard a loud DINK!! noise. luckaly the pipe blew off the petrol cap, so it didnt explode. so if anyone know of a beamish tank, please let me know. cheers Ben ps i'll try and sort some pictures

Hi all, I just wondered if any one knows how to work out the length of spokes needed for a wheel rebuild? I am trying to rebuild a wheel that had a 17`` rim on it. I am now going to try and put an 18`` rim on instead. As the hunt for 17`` trials tyres was proving to be impossible... Many thanks in advance.... Pete.

Can anybody recommend some links or DVDs or whatever where I can see some good twinshock trials? Riding this 247 is a totally different animal...I can hardly even figure out how to ride it after getting off a Sherco. I need some inspiration!

this past year with picking up British kit bikes. First last fall with the Saracen, then the Sachs powered Sprite this Summer, and now with a Penton / Wassell. I first bought this bike in 1997, then restored it to a competition level and rode it a lot and like a dummy sold it. Getting it back was like a time warp. All these years it has been sitting on display in an office and it is exactly like it was when I sold it. I hope I don't make that mistake again.
