Twinshock

  1. Started by bothfeetdown,

Hi there hope someone can help I've just bought a tank seat unit for my 1973 Cota 247 that has the original fibreglass tank and not the separate aluminium tank. I got it to replace a leaking Ali tank and cover. Unfortunately, the 12mm petrol tap from the ali tank does not fit the fibreglass tank. The tap boss on the fibreglass tank appears to have a 16mm metric thread on it. Unfortunately, the tank came without a petrol tap and none of the usual firms can supply a 16mm petrol tap. Any ideas on what to do please?

Has anyone used the Sammy Miller Bultaco Sherpa T Main Box Exhaust? I seen that it was aluminum and repackable. If you have used it, what kind of performance increase did you see if any? Any other knowledge of this product would be appreciated as well. here is the link for it: http://products.sammymiller.co.uk/store/st...?stock_index=16 Thanks

Hi, I've been trying to contact Fred in NZ through his email address but haven't been getting any reply. I've not dealt with him in a number of years and was just wondering if anyone knows if he is still in business, or has anyone ordered parts from him recently? Thanks Ross

Hi guys From what I can see many twin shock bikes came with tiller style yokes as standard and most modern bikes do not. It also seems quite popular to either mod or change the top yoke to get rid of the tiller system. So what was the original thinking behind them and what has changed now that makes them a bad idea ?

This week, my riding buddies new rear shocks arrived. These were OZO Pro Trials Rear Shocks from InMotion. The version he got were the silver colored ones with Shrader valves on the end cap. My question, and he has not heard back from InMotion yet, does anyone know how to alter the size of the mounting setup in regards to diameter. I have not personally tried to work on them, but he mentioned the oem spacer will pivot and rotate, but does not seem to want to be pushed out. Obviously asking before causing damage. The shock eye mount diameter is too small.

  10. As I said in the title I’m looking to upgrade the shocks on my 61 tiger cub. I’ve seen tons of trials builds on tiger cubs and they look great, but I’m not too interested in doing trials (nowhere even near me to do them). I don’t know an insane amount about bikes, just enough to keep mine running, but what weight shocks would I need for a bike that I rip around on trails every other weekend with? I used to spend a lot of time doing motocross and just want something that I can do similar things with, I already have a heavy weight fork but I’ve seen trials suspension be only 40-50 pounds while some motocross shocks hit 70. So what do you guys think? tl;dr I want to bui…

Hi, I am puting my Cota 200 back together and I need to know how much end float the gear shafts should have? And which end the shims should go? I am disregarding any shims I took out as it had been rebuilt by Neanderthal Man!! If anyone has an exploded diagram of the gearbox that would be good as I have made some educated guesses on how it goes!!!! Thanks Ian

Do any of you old timers (like me ) have a slick new way to repair fiberglass gas tanks. I have a Bultaco Sherpa tank that is leaking along the lower seem and at two spots up near the frame head stock (looks like it was damage on either side by the handlebars). The tank was lined with a Kreem type liner product which obviously wasn't working. I managed to get all that out with an Acetone rinse. Fiberglass is a thermoset type product which means you can't add more fiberglass to it after is has set and get the same strength and bond as when it was orginally setup. So I am looking for info and suggestions that folks may have on repairing tanks maybe with some other type bon…

I'm in the process of rebuild the engine on my 250 Armstrong so I have the rolling chassis sat empty and want to take the opportunity to move the footpegs a little. The frame was advertised as being Reynolds 531 and I always thought you could only braze 531. However it doesn't look like any of the frame is brazed by Armstrong. Does anyone know if all the frame is 531? In particular what material is the flat steel plates the footpeg brackets are mounted? I will also think about altering the steering head angle at a later date so any info / advice re welding or brazing in that are will be welcomed, thanks.

Found this on Youtube - arena type event from 80s Around 8 minutes in is priceless. Some of this wouldn't be allowed these days. Risk assement would demand frogmen on standby, riders must wear breathing apparatus, the pool must be drained, bikes must have airbags for buoyancy - and then health and safety would not allow it anyway as too dangerous to participants

Is anyone able to get onto the Tongham Tigers MCC website? http://www.tonghamtigers.co.uk/ Trying to get some info on Sunday's twinshock round, rider list, times etc, which appears to be jointly organised by DOT Owners MC and Tongham. Haven't found anything yet, I can't get past the home page of Tongham's website and it's been like that for a couple of days. The entry form is from DOT Owners MC and says entry list will be on their website but I can't see that they have one Regards Tongham's, I don't know if it's their website that's the problem or my browser or PC firewall Anyone else able to get on it? Don't really want to pester the secretary as they're probably bus…
