Sorry to be back on this hobby horse of WES exhausts for Bultaco Sherpa-Ts but I really remain incredulous that WES doesn't have even a rear exhaust for the world's most popular vintage trials bike. I recently sent an email to Bob Ginder at B&J in the USA who apparently have some business relationship with WES. Bob tells me that WES told him that they don't get many requests for exhausts for Bultaco Sherpa Ts. and thats why they are not in the catalogue. I find that absolutely fascinating. Having seen a bit of the Manx classic/twinshock while I've been at the Manx Grand Prix I'm interested in what basics constitute a twinshock. Other than having two shocks! What brakes, frames, engines etc are allowed, size (as in fork diameter) or age limits. Anything else that should be considered before I start to make something that's not allowed. Even more interested after seeing some of the pit bike engine specials people have made which look very similar to the first bike I ever rode in a schoolboy competition. The rules for classic and twinshocks seem to be even more liberal than those for classic racing. Which I didn't think was possible!

I am wanting to buy the best working and looking pair of shocks out there, can anybody help with suggestions please? Many thanks

This might sound like a stupid question i am seeing more and more twinshock bikes with what looks like a honda or pit bike engine these bikes use the frame as a fuel tank are they hime made specials or can you buy they ,they look light a fun to ride.

Hi. i've got a twinshock fraser honda 305cc, its been sat around for ages and i've now got some money to do it up and start riding it. can someone direct me to a website that tells me what i can and can't do to it to and still be able to complete in the normandale series? all i can find is this - CLASS B – Machines with Twinshock rear suspension as fitted at the time of manufacture and fitted with drum brakes, not included in Class A. i only have a bit of money so it wouldn't be anything major but i'd be gutted to arrive at a trail and not be allowed to ride. thanks for any help wayne

What do you guys recon on this twinshock 350cc?. It's a Merlin built in Spain in 1985 with a cagiva 350cc engine . All of their adult bikes came with the same Cagiva engines. Your comments please.

I was looking in one of my old books and found two pictures of Mick Andrews on one of his TY's, The pictures are not that good but can anyone identify the engines? The book is "MOTOR CYCLE TRIALS TECHNIQUES AND TRAINING" by Leavitt and Weed. The Pictures are on pages 128 & 139 take notice of clutch cover and header mods!! Sorry to those who do not have this book as I do not own a scanner. Cheers

Hi One question, i know this might sound a bit daft, but what actually constitutes a "twinshock" ? Let me explain. Just look at the Cotswold Majesty for example or choose your own. Here is a bike which undeniably is a "twinshock" (it has two rear shock absorbers) but it was made this century. So are twinshocks anything with two rear shocks? Do they have to be manufacturered before a certain date? Must they be aircooled? When we say manufactured which bits do we actually mean? After all there are many aftermarket frame kits around. Some replicas of the originals, some of works frames, some just very light and tidy. You see where i am going with this is why couldnt…

I finally have the restoration done on my '76 KT 250. Got it started and finally found the right combination of carb settings so it will idel smoothly. However, without any warning the engine starts running wide open. The only way I can make it stop is pull the spark plug and cut off the gas. It does it at irregular intervals, when it is restarted it runs fine for a while then goes wild. Needless to say, this makes it difficult to ride sections. I have checked the following, throttle cable- no kinks, no burrs, it does not drag or bind; throttle assem.- it works fine does not stick, opens and closes easily; slide moves freely in the carb body and when it runs wild …

A t/s rookie question, I keep seeing this reference to the 'more modern riding position'....is it simply lower footrests or are riders looking for more than that? ...for instance what is the more 'modern handlebar positioning'....where does the 'body' sit 'in' the bike etc. ...is it all just an aid to go from new to old t/s's or is the 'modern position' a better set-up period? I've owned 4 trials bikes, 1980 Sherpa 250, 2003 Monty 315R, 2002 Beta REV and now my 1980 SWM if that helps someone to explain things..but never owned more than one at a time! thanks for your patience guys

21M25425 Has some different stuff from my '74 which is also a 21M. Clutch arm on top, different engine covers, Amal carb... The guy I got it from tied it down to bring it home and when he took the straps off, the forks stayed collapsed. Any Ideas. The seat/tank is a WRECK. What are we doing with these things these days? I still figure I did OK. Buying bikes from rednecks is interesting. He took $375 and a 30-pack of Busch.

I purchased this today as I fancied a twinshock mont and a bit of a project The frame and engine number is 21m51607 I've looked online and all I can tell is its a 247 no idea about how you date it If anyone could shed any light on it I'd appreciate it because I'll be needing a few bits and bobs Thanks in advance

I have the chance to buy a 250 or 350 Gripper and wanted to know what bike is better? I also wondered if parts are available and where can I obtain them? Many thanks for any advice.
