Can anyone recommend a good way of sealing a fibreglass tank. Most people i`ve spoken to say these tanks leaked from new and I should try putting some resin in it and rolling it round until it goes off but I`m not convinced this works. Also I`m still trying to trace the bike and would like to know who rode 250 hiro`s in the 84 ssdt as from what little info is available it looks like the top riders were all on 320`s. All i`ve found out up to now is it was 1st registered in the bristol area and its number 71 of 75. Cheers and all the best for 2012

Just bought a 320 Trial Armstrong to hopefully restore, depending on the amount of work thats required. The forks need replacing or recromed, theres some problem in the gear box and not sure theres a spark and somethings a miss with the back brake plate. Its got what looks like a fantic one on there, but no slot on the swinging arm for the retaining pin, is this the wrong type off brake plate? So depending what i find in the gear box, the faults should not be two much of a problem hopefully. Other than that the bikes in not in to bad a condition. Its got a (Sammy Miller) Hiro engine and white frame with a square section . Just read the frame number but forgotten it by…

I'm in the process of rebuild the engine on my 250 Armstrong so I have the rolling chassis sat empty and want to take the opportunity to move the footpegs a little. The frame was advertised as being Reynolds 531 and I always thought you could only braze 531. However it doesn't look like any of the frame is brazed by Armstrong. Does anyone know if all the frame is 531? In particular what material is the flat steel plates the footpeg brackets are mounted? I will also think about altering the steering head angle at a later date so any info / advice re welding or brazing in that are will be welcomed, thanks.

I just saw a post in Montesa forum re: using ATF in a 315r and it reminded me to post my findings using ATF in my Cota 247. I had read in other forums 247 owners using ATF in both clutch and gearbox and so I gave it a try. First thing I noticed was the gears starting jumping ie: from one gear to another under power (usually 3rd and 4th ) and it was very difficult to select neutral once warm. I have no gasket for clutch cover so have been using silicon successfully in the past but this time it failed and so I had to redo and refill the clutch but I was out of ATF and so the original manual states SAE-10W30 but in the past I used GTX (not GTX2). Interesting well over a …

Just came across this on Charlies site. Obviously the B25 is not a Pre 65 and falls into the Twinshock category unless your club has a Pre 70 class like the BMCA. This is vid number 1. there are follow ups.

This might appear as a silly question - but in 40 years I have never used bar ends on any of my trial, trail or road bikes. I understand that open ends can be a safety issue and as I would like to start competing I believe blocking the ends is a requirement. So I purchased some Hebo bar ends with the intention of fitting them to my TLR200 and Cota 247. However, I really don't have a clue what to do - do they go on the bars then place the grips on top of them or do they go on the outside of the grips ie: cut a hole in the grips.... One thing I do know is the Hebo units are too small for my bars although I can probably pad them with some old tube rubber.
