Pre-65 Bikes

Well as the title suggests does anybody know what size taper roller bearings will fit the headstock on a D14/4 Bantam ? I can machine the stem on the yokes to suit so within reason the id doesn't matter. Thanks in anticipation.

If anyone knows of a Velocette MAC trials bile for sale can they please send me a message? I saw one at a vintage trial on Sunday and am interested in getting one.

I have in my possesion a C15 that I bought in bits (and I mean bits!).I obtained it from an ex BSA employee.The bike had passed through the hands of a number BSA employees before him.The chap I bought it off trialed it in the early to mid sixties.However,he used to ride it to work and whilst doing so had an altercation with a car which resulted in,amongst other things,a bent frame.This of course required a strip down for repairs and while the engine was out it was completely dismantled,Alpha Bearings did the crank in readiness for the rebuild.The frame repair didn't go well however and because of this he lost interest and never rebuilt the motor.Basically the bike stayed …

Hey, i want to build a pre 65 trials bike, the bike has to be competitive on Europeen pre 65 trials. not sure wat to choose i was thinking B40 or Ariel 500 as that is wat the pre 65 experts ride in europe, i don't want a 2stroke (i can't ride one i'm to used to 4stroke power) but i'm not sure what's the easiest to build. I found more info on building ariels but a B40 is probebly cheaper and easier to find parts? most people say the B40 is the easiest bike to ride and a bit lighter than an ariel (over here the pre 65 bikes are no semi modern specials like in the UK) no one rides ajs or matchless on the expert route, are these bikes harder to ride than an ariel? i have…

Hi, For swinging arm spindle and bushings, I do have room for tiny needle bearings 20mm/32mm. The present design, bushings and hollow steel spindle, worn out.. idea *spindle of ally 6026 *bushing of bronze 5640 *seals and grease nipple Do you think this will work or will seize? Cheers,

Hi, I am just building the engine for my Trials Cub Project. I am fitting a PVL ignition which I purchased second hand about a year ago. I'm sure Alan Whitton said set the timing 5mm BTDC but the guy who sold me the ignition said 2.0 - 2.5mm BTDC. I'm running a +40" 7:1 piston and 'R' Cam in a Square barrel, side points engine. I know Alan uses a higher compression Kawasaki piston (I've got one but couldn't bear to bore a perfictly good barrel). I can just about get both timings but would like to set the correct timing in the middle of my adjustment. I'll be running the engine on a Mikuni VM22 (26mm) pit bike carb if it makes any difference to the timing as I belie…

Hello Everyone, I've just taken on a 1959 Triumph 3TA barn find, and I hope to turn it into a trials machine. My sort of riding is just having a bit of fun on the white route, so I'm not after much competitiveness, but I am interested in keeping it period, and I'm hoping to do as little (if any) permanent modifications as possible. Here's some pictures of the bike in question: Triumph 3TA My first question is the hubs, before I get the bits to lace the planned 21" WM1 and a 18" WM2, what hubs would be appropriate? Hi Guy's. I have had the story from Ally Clift about the Original BSA "Otters" built down in the west country by the late Harry Foster. After reading the stories, I now think I should try and find an Harry Foster BSA "Otter" frame in any condition, so that I can build one of these bikes up for the web site, and for my collection. Hi Guys Thinking of building a Trials Bantam/ Cub & my first issue is front frame modifications. Before I decide which way to go I thought that there must be members out there who have already been down this road. Headstock angle I have a D10 front frame & want to sharpen the headstock angle, been advised to change the front down tube for a C15 tube which is one inch shorter. What headstock angle are we trying to achieve? Please suggest how best this can be done Engine mounts It's usual to move the engine mounts to the left to aid the chain run with a Cub Engine in a Bantam frame, Does anyone have the details? Looking for a little guidance and this would seem the place to be, I have recently bought a rough Tiger cub with the notion of humiliating myself in some pre 65 trials. However the more I look into this the more difficult it seems to be to know what to options to take in setting it up. The first hurdle was actually easier than anticipated, I started it at the weekend and the engine and gearbox seem okay. I bought a 4.00 trials tyre to check if it would fit and seems okay in what I believe is the wider swinging arm except for the chain running very, very close to the tyre. I think I will try and mover the engine over a few mm and I also notice that there is a front sprocke…
