Pre-65 Bikes

  1. Started by greeves,

Hi: I own this Greeves bike, but the sprockets obviously are not correct as the bike is too fast in 1st gear. Somebody knows the correct sprockets? and maybe where to find them in the internet? It is really a pre-65 bike or not??????? Thank you

  2. Most people use a mineral 20/50 in the gearbox casing. Has anybody tried a modern synthetic or semi-synthetic bike oil suitable for wet clutches . I am particularly concerned about the effect on the cork friction rings between the steel plates. What quantities are people using. Have heard anything from .5 to a full pint. Any comments.

hi Guys Hi Big "J". Was flicking through copies of O.R.R. last night looking for a picture that I knew I had seen in one of the copies, came across the story of "Pathfinder Pollock" in volume 81/83. Reading through the article, the conections with this part of Scotland began showing them selves again. My parents met at work in the Northern Aluminium Company Factory in Banbury, now Alcan. Turned the page and there was the picture with MST on again. The picture of Ted Usher looked familiar, knew I had seen it before in the bookI had been given for Best Newcomer" in a local trial in 1962. The book Max King's "Trials Riding". Found the picture on page 127, turned out t…

I have acquired an Otter (Faber) framed B40 with Betor rear units. They measure up at 13.4 inches between bush centres. The bike seems low at the back and could do with more ground clearance. I disconnected the rear units and jacked the bike up under the bash plate and it looks better with about 14.75 inches between the bush mounts, giving about 12.5 inches of ground clearance. Any suggestions please? Sherpatensing.

Hi guys. Well after a long week it looks as if my brother as bought two bikes off of a e-site that should be Ok for the pre 65 Scottish but do you think we will get an entry. The Ariel Ht 5 comes from Scotland, in the same spec as it left the factory. And the B40 as every thing BSA on it .So give us a clue or should our name be Miller or Andrews.or even "Bultaco Banbury Dan".

A letter has been sent out with regulations for the next events in the above series. Its from the ACU Trials and Enduro Commitee. Basically it says a protest has been received regarding eligibility of certain bikes which have been competing in the series. It goes on to say that at future events there will be strict machine examination for compliance with the regulations especially in regard to class eligibility. Sounds like a good idea, although a shame if things have been allowed to get out of hand in the first place. Maybe it will encourage more to have a ride in this excellent series.

For once, everything organised for the Manx Classic- ferry booked months ago. Had a letter this morning- Steam Packet Co has 'revised' our sailng times due to 'ongoing technical problems with the vessel'(really inspires confidence about even going!) Now we arrive just in time for signing on - providing the boat's not delayed/breaks down, effectively losing nearly a day. If thats not bad enough, try contacting them, you just sit in a queue for hours, on a national rate call, adding to their profits. E mails ignored of course. Has anyone got any sense out of these cowboys?

Has anyone tried or any knowledge of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TIGER-CUB-BANTAM-OVE...6QQcmdZViewItem As it would be good to have a rear brake that works on my Cub! Or is it me can't seem to get the same purchase with my left foot brake, Iv'e tried getting new linings fitted oversize different compound etc, but rather than ordering these shoes from the UK getting them sent to NZ only to find they don't work either.
