Hello, I just bought a 1955 James Captain, it’s a surprise for my 84 year old Father he had one back in the day, I don’t pick it up til the weekend but I was hoping for some advice on a running issue that the current owner has mentioned, he said it starts easily and rides but won’t rev fully, I’m not that familiar with 2 strokes so thought I’d ask on here for any tips on where to start, thanks Mark.

HELP PLEASE. Does anyone have a photo or photos of Peter Stirland on his 1962 works Royal Enfield 250 Crusader trials bike that they would be happy to share ? I have just acquired the engine from the bike and am looking for an image of the full machine with a view to building it up. The engine came from Mick Peeling who removed it from the bike decades ago and used the frame for another purpose. Interestingly it has a manual-advance/retard augmentation. All help appreciated.

Hi all Anybody know who makes trials kickstarts for the villiers 32a engine?????? The shaft size is 5/8 , i've tried terry weedy , but he only does ones for the 3/4 shaft ....

Hi there Apologies for what might seem like an obvious question, but I'm new to Villiers engines ! I want to change the gearbox sprocket on my 8E engine to lower first gear - first glance doesn't look as easy as it is on all the other bikes I have - just thought I would ask advice before I start cheers John

Hi guys, i'm fast reaching a point where i need to decided what to do next on my rebuild. I've got the primary chain on but not the clutch plates etc. I haven't fitted the cylinder yet so opted to fit the pvl ignition i brought from sammy miller products a year ago. I've brought a case that serco have machined so my pillars are in place. ive had a look in the bag that the pvl kit was sent in and i have a back plate, large washer, plug cap, a rotor and coil type thing (?). I also have various instructions that refer to a 'large diameter alloy spacer' and '1/4'' bore spacers'? I have none of the latter items but on reference to SM Products parts list they are shown in …

Whats the best way to set the spring tension on a cub clutch? 199cc with serco alloy plate fitted. At the moment the clutch is very heavy , how far would you back the springs off before slip occours or is it just trial and error?

I have noticed something really odd about my C15. After riding, it will not leak oil for two days but then starts to leak at what I beleive to be a constant rate. It seems like there is some type of internal leak that fills up "something". Once that "something" fills up, it starts to leak externally. Oil accumulates on the bash plate so I can't find the exact source. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? This bike does have a right hand side kick stand. I have heard of wet sumping but the bike does not smoke at start up. It does leak while riding but I don't know if that is constant or just after start up.

Does anyone know what type of Norton sliders are used to make the trick forks?
