Seeking some advice from you guys especially up north that have large entries (150 plus) in a conventional multi lap trial in a relativly small quarry or wood venue. What is the best way to avoid riders waiting in numbers at section starts and keeping the trial moving. Given a breakdown of 60 Sportsmen / 60 Clubman / 30 Inters / 30 expert for example Is it best 10 section over 4 laps or 13 sections over 3 laps?. Start everyone together at section one or split entry up?. If split what is best way - Riders 1-10 section 1 / 11-20 section 2 etc or different classes start at different sections ie Sportsman (beginners)section 1 / Clubman section 4 / Inters section 8 / Exper…

Rough Holden Farm This venue which is located on the outskirts of Silsden has been used as a practice venue for over 10 years -pre foot & mouth. The venue could be lost as a practice venue in the near future unless Ian Boothman (Landowner) can provide evidence that people have used the ground on a ad hoc basis. He requires evidence that you the trial rider have used the venue over the last 10 years to practice on. All he requires is a letter stating who you are and a statement that you have used the venue for practice. You can e-mail him via Peter at peter@bradfordtrials.org or a direct letter to Ian at: Ian Boothman Rough Holden Farm, Sislden, Keighley, BD20 0ZS …

Go easy on me guys if my ignorance of the answer is obvious in the question...if you know what i mean What are my costs going to be once i have my bike? Join a club...get acu licence and just the cost of trial on the day? is that pretty much it? Is it a necessity to join a club or join acu ? I only done 1 trial too many years ago and if i remember correctly i just turned up and paid to ride??? Im not being a cheapskate as i fully intend to join my closest club(if they'll have me ) I'm just a little confused with all the acronyms and the like. thanks in advance

Am completing some university work about trials and need a credible source to reference. I thought the acu site had an explanation of what trials is but I can't seem to find anything (maybe since they altered the website). FIM site doesn't seem to have anything either. Does anyone have any ideas? (books or sites other than wikipedia)

Anyone know of anyone in the uk who does or can produce specific paddock shirts complete with sponsors logos etc, like the factory pit stuff?? I know of plenty of folks that do screen printing on plain shirts etc but we are after a load of shirts making with good quality two colour shirts with various logos printed / embroidered on. Just thought that there may be a specific company that specialise in motorcycle stuff as they would know the kind of thing that we are after?? Any ideas , cheers

As many of you know tony moto has many mx tracks in winchester uk http://www.tonymoto.co.uk/ but he has problems with planning permission at the moment so is shut ! I think it a noise issue but i think he might be perswaded (sp?) to open a much bigger better trials area there if he has the interest from us and local clubs so if your interested post here or call the number and leve a message saying it would be a good idea and you and your mates would use it and maybe us southeners can get a all year round riding place cheers matt

At Sunday's Trial, I was talking to another competitor about Observing and he said he Observes at the SSDT and has a great week out This struck a cord with me, as I've been thinking about it for a while at big Trials (which i'm not good enough to ride anymore) I'd like to Observe at big Trials like the Reeth 3 day, maybe the Scott and ultimately the SSDT, plus a few Nationals or BTC in the fullness of time I realise you have to start small, but how do you get into it? Is there any training, at Club level or ACU? How do you know when you're ready to do a big Trial? Obviously I don't want to get it wrong and this is the bit that scares me silly, because riders put a l…
