Hope someone can help with this. I was visiting a customer the other day and saw a photo showing someone holding the SSDT trophy. Asked the question and found that it was the chap's father, George C. Wheeler. He won the event sometime in the 1930s but the son doesn't know exactly when, how many times or on what machine. Any help (or additional information) gratefully received. Nick

I understood from Lampkin that the Evo 250 might not do the distance between fuel stops with the OEM tank. He recommended me to install the Hebo aux tank as a safety measure. In order to practice the same way, I installed one on my Evo 290, and today in the morning I went out for a ride with the aux tank full. I hate it! it might be only couple of pound more but it's right on the front and ruin all the bike handling. Can I carry in my backpack 500ml emergency gas? is it enough? is it allowed??? Hi All, Daft question time: How hard is the SSDT? To put that in more words; I'm an average clubman that rides the clubbie route in Sarf Midlands trials. I've done so (despite a long break) for many years and usually survive a Sunday. I'm pretty fit (4 London Marathon finishes and many, many half marathins, 10k etc) and am unlikely to croak with a week of hard effort. As a follower of the sport for many years, as far as I'm concerned the SSDT is THE trial to do. It's on the bucket list... The question is, is it an attainable goal? Is an average clubmen going to record so many fives and damage themselves so badly as to incovenience others and generally get in the way?…

Well in todays paper they are thinking of moving the first Bank Holiday in May to October and calling it 'Trafalger Day' or 'UK Day'? I am sure this will have an impact for the SSDT? Some spectators make the first weekend a long weekend taking in the Pre'65 and the Monday's sections before heading South only using 1 days holiday entitlement. I am sure some riders with family holidays booked in the Summer are glad of the Bank Holiday as they save a day only using 4 days. I know with my work our entitlement is C**p so if it is moved other holidays may take preference over the SSDT, of course this year is an added bonus with the Royal Wedding so that might boost the numbe…

Hi all I am going to attend this years SSDT,but want to make sure i get to see two sections,being:The pipeline and the other is one that is always featured on DVD's,it is were they go under a road bridge which is always full of spectators and climb up the stream over rocks.I hope this is good enough descripton.My main question is were are both of these sections so i can plan to see both,also are they at opposite ends of the trial,or by any good luck,within a couple of days of each other.Any help would be great. Hi On re-building my 1971 Bultaco M80 slimline I'm re-discovering some dabs of grey paint that I take to be seals from the Scottish. I'm assuming that this bike was ridden in the 1972 Scottish by Karl Rowbotham from Kidderminster. Can anyone confirm (or otherwise) that:- 1) Grey seals were used in 1972. 2) If not, a year when grey seals were used. 3) Karl Rowbotham rode a 244cc Bultaco in the 1972 SSDT and his number. 4) Any pics would be more than fabulous. So here is some questions, which will follow with more questions in the near future - Gear. I was thinking on Gaerne oiled boots (on the way) with...which is the most comfortable pants/jersey/gloves? I have the MSR ISDE Pack-Jack as very light, foldable into itself rain jacket... - Camelback? which tools? - How it's work on the end of the day if I want to do some mechanical work? Can I use mechanic? Do I have limited time and special space to do it? - Can I get between fuel stops on the original gas tank or should I get auxiliary tank on the fork? So after Albert Cabestany's visit last year will he return and try and win the centenary of the event ? will Dougie drag Raga over to ride ? Raga rode in 1999 or 2000 I beleive Fajardo has also ridden before and wouldnt it look good for Ossa to win the centenary at its first attempt in its new form Fuji would enjoy the moors but would Montesa relent and allow him to ride even if he wanted to ? Would make for a fascinating week, the brits could still win even if the above showed up based on last year. any body know if any of the world stars are intending to ride ?

1st, thank you guys. Amazing forum you have here, I'm into reading for few days now. Lots of useful information. I'm thinking going the SSDT next year. My goal is to enjoy the event and to try to pass it nicely. Not competing with anyone beside myself. My Trial skill are novice+. I used to compete in Europe 10 years back on Scorpa easy 280 with Sneezy team (Eddy Moermans) from Belgium (are they still running?), and I even went 2 times to compete in the "4 days of Crouse" in south of France. I believe I have the endurance for the SSDT, after finishing twice the ISDE (Chile 2007 and Mexico 2010) and the Baja 1000 solo rider (23 hours straight). Can I reach my goals? I d…
