Every year a few of us get together one night up in Fort Bill and visit the rather good curry house on the High Street for some nosh. Apart from the usual suspects (Slapper, Bigfoot, Fugly who I just take for granted will be there!), if anybody else is up for it, drop me a PM and we'll see what we can get organised

has anybody got any good tips for Cabby as newcomer to SSDT this year? Having done as many years with a book in my hand as I have ridden It occured to me that the Scottish is very differently observed to what he is used to plus you have same observers for 6 days I just cant imagine him having ability problems in the sections. There is always the possibility of getting lost ..out of fuel...time etc. will he be tempted into the evil ways of beer and haggis?

A mate of mine from germany has been accepted with his sister to ride. She has a FIM licence cos she rides EM rounds. Her brother has DMSB B Licence (Deutsche Motor Sport Bund B- Licence). He can ride "Europen Open and National, all disciplins" rounds here in europe on that. Is his Licence OK ?From theb SSDT.org site it says.... "!The only licences valid for the SSDT are an ACU Registration Card, an SACU/MCUI Licence or a full FIM International Licence" What is an SACU/MCUI Licence??? Help needed quickly please

Does anybody have any good tips for setting up a sherco 320 for the SSDT? Every other manufacturer have posted something on how to weatherproof or set up their machines exept sherco, or have I may be just missed it.

My and my kid are driving up to Fort W from Mallorca for the SSDT. His first visit at all, my first visit in 30 years...(Where did THEY go?) We're vanning the bikes up there so we don't have to stop ANYWHERE in France. (Maybe that's just me.) Question: what's the situation re: B&Bs etc? Will we have trouble getting someplace to stay in the vicinity? Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks all in advance. Norman

Excuse my ignorance but...I am very new to the sport (weeks) but have been aware of the SSDT's for a long time and since being on here I have read numerous times about how concerned they are about losing sections etc, and rightly so, and hense why they make such a drive to stop spectators riding off road them self, however, I can't stop thinking it's all being used by the authorities to brake your back with! By this I mean, the possible threat of losing things, surely it was be an enormous own goal for the local area, local authority, local land owners etc etc to make any attempt to stop things. The world attention the area gets, the influx of visitors, the money the loc…

Leanachan has always been well-known amongst trials riders, and in recent years the fame of the area has spread with the introduction of a variety of world-class downhill and cross-country cycling routes, not to mention the impending arrival of the world trials scene in June 2010. All of this means that there is a lot more traffic on the Forestry Commission tracks around Leanachan these days, which will be particularly noticeable during SSDT week when the first day of the trial falls on the May Day bank holiday Monday. Just been watchin trotters burn 2009 on youtube......I now see the need for waterproofs ! When you ride a 4rt, do you get a free alpinestars jacket with it, as they've all got one on. Just out of curiosity.....how long do you ride for each day, and where abouts does this section come in to play (what day?/after how long?) as everyone looks rather cream crackered !!! If it sounds as though Im having a go, I assure you Im not......just interested thats all ! Should've carried on looking at youtube......it says its on day 1.

Hi all I will be visting the SSDT for the first time this year,due to the nature of the event the SSDT cannot help me with the following due to the route being kept a secret,which i totally understand. I want to make sure i witness the riders go up the pipeline section,can anybody help me with the location and if they ride it more than once,if so whay days?Which of all the sections is a must see?i accept all,but as it is my first time i would like to see the toughest sections. I ask this as i would like to book my hotal soon as can onlu go for 2 days. Thank you in advance David

A lad was telling me the other day that a 19" front tube will still stretch to fit the front but works better than a 21" on the rear if you need it. Anyone know if it works or not ? would make sense to carry one of them round if it does.

Well worth a couple of quid to see shirty riding in tights, might get a bit cold round the Trossacks, but it doesn't look like that will be used this year.

I was hoping a few of you SSDT vets, could point me in the right direction as far as getting my bike through scrutineering. What does my bike need to have to pass? As it stands, I don't have light's, speedo or side stand. I am aware that I need a side stand and speedo, however, can I get away with a cheap speedo from halfords? Also do I need a horn? Basically I'm not wanting to spend too much money, and from the price list for the speedo, wiring loom, horn and lights, it starts to get a wee bit pricey. cheers.

HERE #192 - will it start the trial will it finish?

Just out of interest really, where are we reckoning the route will run this year? There is no visit to Clunes moor this year and I have never ridden it when we haven't gone across it! I'm sure GIZZA5 will have an idea! I for one hope that they haven't got Trotters in first thing Monday like last year! I missed the nice run over Bradileig last year on the Monday and down into Kinlochleven. I would also think its nice for the spectators having the sections fairly close together. I quite like starting with Leanachen first thing Monday, it was odd not doing it last year till Wednesday! I wonder how its going to work having the Brae in on Monday aswell! Purely boredom and spec…

I have been asked to write an article about a vintage Ariel HT3 that I have that took part in the 1955 SSDT and would love to find out who rode it in that trial. anyone with a 1957 or 1958 program or info that might help and add a personal touch to this article would be very helpful! I'm out on the bike every day now, built a course round the yard and go like hell round it, and ride the creek section Scott style, I don't half get a sweat on and arm pump, have you even got a bloody bike yet thi fat lump. Only 82 days to go.

I've been busy uploading photos to an online server for safekeeping and I found an old hard drive with loads of trials related stuff on it. First up is 120+ photos from the Thu, Fri and Sat of the 2003 SSDT. Photo gallery is here... (The gallery images are at the original size so click the icon at the bottom to expand them then click again to zoom in if needed...) Also found a folder with over 80 gig' of trials videos ranging from club trials, BTC to WR's!
