I've had a few queries in recent weeks regarding the type of license that is valid for the SSDT. This seems to stem from the cost of purchasing a full FIM international license, so for the avoidance of any doubt there are only four types of license valid for the SSDT : ACU Registration Card SACU License MCUI License Full international license Unfortunately your national license from your home FMN, other than the three listed above, is not sufficient for riding the SSDT (in line with regulation 1.4 of our Supplementary Regulations), so please make sure you bring the correct license with you as you won't be able to start the trial on Monday morning without it! I would like to go and watch the SSDT this year and as i have never been before I dont have a clue what part of scottyland it is in. Anyone know where i can get some maps? Thanks

I hope to observe for a few days this year, has anyone done it it before? What can I expect and how do the observers get out to the far away sections? Do they ride the whole way, follow the road or take a van and park up close by?

Should I ever be lucky enough to get a ride in the Pre 65 Scottish, and as my Cub wouldn't be popular, can the panel of experts, Chaired by Big John, please put this machine through scrutineering The carb is made by Mick Uni ( the well known ex pat) and they were around in the 60's I believe? Tony

I know this is a long shot but someone in this website is bound to have a complete collection of SSDT programmes so where better to ask. In either the '72 or '74 programme there was a b&w picture of spectators watching a rider going through a section at Ben Nevis (I think it may even have been Malcolm Rathmell) and it just happened that me and my dad were in the photo. I used to havre a copy but managed to misplace it over the years. I know it's a long shot but if anyone has a copy could you please post it or e-mail me a scan of the picture. For all I know someone may even have al the programmes online already. Thanks.

Due to the weather last year (Blame Slapshot3) and the number of bikes that had problems crossing some of the rivers up to Blackwater Dam, the club have invested in this to aid riders who are struggling

Just read all about Tony Down's rides in the SSDT on his blog. Well worth the read! Not sure if this is the right place to put this post as there is so much to read about on his blog it could go pretty much anywhere, but as it was the SSDT that drew me too it I thought I'd let you know about it here. I really enjoyed reading his account, get over there and have a read yourselves!

Well, I just happened to be talking to my dad about the legend that is Eddie Lejeune and he said to me "one min" and walked out the room , he came back with 30 odd pictures that he took of the SSDT in 1982, up until now I had never seen any of these pictures ! What a numptey! Any way, for the past hour or so I have been scanning them in , so I can post them on here for people to see. Loking at getting booked in to an hottel, thinking of going for the Premier travel inn! Has any body stayed at the premier travel inn before for the scottish? Any good? Any suggestions of other places to try?

First time travel from USA to '08 SSDT. Need advice as to where best to stay. Is there a central hotel/headquarters for the event? Also, which airport is best to fly in to? Thanks for any advice.

So far we've got eleven SSDT payments into our bank account, and only seven of them can be identified. Already four people have sent their entry fees in without a reference to tell me who they are or who their payment is in respect of. Can I just remind everyone that if we can't identify that a payment is yours, you will lose your place in the trial. Come 15th February I'll be going through all the statements, matching off all the payments we've got with the entrants, and if I can't match your payment with your entry fee then you lose out. Hi Folks, As it says above, I have managed to get an entry for this years SSDT and as I discovered today I am mega unfit (I blame man flu and christmas beer!) I am trying to ride as much as possible and have started riding the hard route but the trials in my area all seem to be in quarries, don't get me wrong the trials are really good and land is hard to come by but I want to try something that is a little more like the scottish, something which has sections in burns and has a good couple of miles round the loop and a bit of a challenge but not something where I will break myself or the bike. I apologise if this is a repeat, buttt.... what are the chances of a twinshock Scottish in the future? I appreciate that the relevant committees are worked to death and all that but I reckon it would be a winner. Same sort of format as the pre-65, 2 days. Bit of a knock-around for the twinshock lads and lasses.

can anyone help me out there, does anyone know a chap called bob moore who rode the scotish 6 day back in 1973 he rode a suzuki back then where was he from and is he still around as i would like to get in touch with him i know this is a bit of a wild shot but there must be someone out there who remembers him thanks

why dont we see the top ten world riders ride the scotish six day. is it because its totally different riding skills. i think so i think dougie would win every time

For those of you who are twiddling your thumbs waiting for the Sheffield results to come in later on, the SSDT ballot has been done and the entry list has been posted on the SSDT website. For those of you who know me and for those of you who don't I have competed in the SSDT.........24 times??? Did I put my entry in for 2008........................No however I did fill it out twice it was touch and go whether I should ride again Over the last few years I have been thinking, maybe I should call it a day, yes I am getting older and find each year tougher (not as tough as the 90's), but there were several other reasons for me not entering.
