Just a reminder for those of you that don't read the front page...SSDT entries close on Friday. If you're sending a form in this week, it must be with us by Friday, as the ballot will be done over the weekend and late entries will be too late....no excuses accepted! If you've posted yours and are dubious about whether or not it will arrive by Friday, email ssdtoffice@ssdt.wanadoo.co.uk - that way I'll make sure your name is included in the ballot so that you don't miss out. Good luck to those of you who have been organised enough to get your form in on time!

Did CJB release a DVD of the 2006 SSDT? If so, does anyone know where I can get hold of it? I've got the 2005 DVD, and really enjoyed it. Cheers Martin

Digging through some old paperwork and came across the 1983 official programme for the SSDT. For me it was the start of something special, not to bore you! but it was my first SSDT and I have been fortunate enough to ride a few more Thought some facts from this programme might make interesting reading: Riders of note this week some ''Blasts from the past'' 2. Bernard Cordonier - he has got to have been the tallest man on a trilas bike, good for a single long dab 12. Felix Kranstover - another tall guy, now the editor of the German Trialsport magazine 14. Adrian Prato - part of the Fantic works set up 28. Bernie Schreiber - never won the SSDT! 51. John Boy - fant…

Word is the early entry numbers are down from the past few years, good time for first time riders to get an entry in, "Mr. Dabster" can't call yourself a trials rider until you have ridden the world's # 1 trial. The whole weeks experience lasts for the rest of your life, get em in, you know you want to, would like, should, could, don't cut it!! just do it.

I am trying to contact on behalf of the Tailrace Inn three couples who regularly come and watch the ssdt each year. They have booked in for the first week in May when the ssdt would normally start. Their names are:- Keith Sutton, Mr and Mrs Johnstone ans mr Eyre. If anyone knows any of them could you please get them to contact 01855 831777. The Tailrace didn't take any of their info because they book in every year. Ta Scottie

Good friend and local club rider Duncan Mitchell has put his TYZ up for sale. Now riding a Scorpa, Duncan has decided not to enter the old TYZ in the SSDT again. This in may ways is a sad loss as he has ridden 10 or 11 SSDTs on this bike with little other than routine maintance being required. It wasn't a SSDT special either. He rode Scottish national and all the club rounds on the bike too. Is this some sort of record or has someone done more on one bike? Where's Big John when you need him.

  15. I was looking at a picture front page of a 1979 TMX , of Colin Bell works SWM, riding pipeline. In the background it shows riders approaching pipeline from the other side, and then what looks like they get their bikes up on the pipes and ride across some planks. A good few spectators are gathered at the plank crossing, it must of been quite entertaining watching riders slip between the pipes. Anyone remember this ???

Do you need a licence to ride on the roads for this trial or what way does it work? Is it by the cc of the bike or the amount of hp it has? Thanks

Just finished watching the DVD of this years six days, I'd heard that it was a tough one but christ, rocks, rocks and more rocks with water thrown in for good measure. I was worn out watching it. Much respect to all those who finished it, I might be fit enough in about 10 years.

the guys that I ride with all use Hebo auxilliary fuel tanks fitted behind their front number plates. This gives us extra range when out on the moors. I didn't notice anyone using one in the SSDT and wondered if they are not permitted by the trial regulations. Anyone know?

At Chairlift on Thursday morning a friend of mine loaned me his pristine Yamaha pressure gauge & unfortunately I proceeded to loose it somewhere between the bottom of the first section & the begin cards of the 3rd section. Is there anybody out there that can help me replace this item?

It was brought to my attention whilst in Fort William that Tommy passed away during SSDT week. With everything going on I omitted to mention this on Trials Central. Plenty of you will have known Tommy and many of you who have ridden will have crossed swords with him at some point! Tommy was one of those characters that the Scottish is so well known for. Every year he drove up in his Reliant Robin via A and B roads because he wasn't allowed on motorways, but still he made it - even when he was well into his 90's. Many times I've seen that little three-wheeler parked up in a layby beside the "Time Control Start" sign like some kind of cop car and imagined him giving chas…
