Hello all I have just bought an '85 TY250 and want to fit lights. The bike has both coils, but all I can see in terms of powered wiring is one wire that is on the right hand side of the air box. This is giving out 6v, but is the only wire that is available with power. The kill switch and wiring is present, but I cannot find any other wires to power the front light etc. Any ideas?

I`ve had a pinky for a while and when I bought it had a number plate with a reg but no V5. The seller said it came with a spare mudgaurd on but couldnt remember for sure. As I`ve just sold my roadbike and could do with switching my insurance policy to keep my no claims ticking over I would like to apply for the V5 but is this likely to cause problems. Anyone know of a way of checking the reg with the frame numbers to see if they match. I`ve ran a vehicle check with dvla and it comes back as a 91 yam but thats all.

Hi , just finished the Ilkley Classic trial, which has 85 miles of road work , on my 1990 gas gas 325 air cooled mono . When I was on the road and inbetween sections and stood up the riding position is very uncomfortable because I have to put too much weight on my arms and the only way to take weight off is to ride with bent knees but I find this impossble to maintain for any distance , anybody got any cures? Nick

I did a bit of trials in the 80's on 70's twinshocks as they were all I could afford at the time and I've not ridden trials since but have done plenty of green laning and the odd enduro. I realise that a very modern bike would probably be the best bet for ease of use but I have no desire to own one.......I just like aircooled traditional looking bikes so will stick with twinshock or aircooled mono class. Would I notice much of a difference between riding an aircooled mono and a 70's/80's twinshock if both bikes were well maintained and sorted? Will I make it easier on myself with a 90's mono bike or is the overall technology between the 80's & 90's bikes not that m…

  8. Dont quite know how i came to be involved in this one but do you have a Pre95 Air Cooled Monoshock ? We are looking for owners who would like to come along to a test day somewhere to be decided in Derbyshire on June 10th. Your bike will be ridden and appraised by none other than Magical Mick Andrews and hopefully Nigel Birkett and the words and pictures will feature in Classic Dirt Bike Magazine. That is assuming we can get enough variety of bikes to test. So if you have a Air Cooled Gas Gas, Beta, Aprillia, Ty Yamaha, Montesa, Honda, Merlin etc etc etc please please pm me and i will try to collate everybodys details and arrange things. I do let myself in for things LO…

Can you help i have an old jcm 323 trial bike with the TI engine fitted. the clutch is slipping and not able to ride out of 3rd gear, as the bike is one of the first 35 bikes made it has a different clutch fitted the friction plates are more like a rear sprocket than a friction plate, there is a sureflex make on the plate but unable to find a listing for the bike or engine, have contacted them and no answer... have spoken to Joel in france but have no parts left and no part no. I think the bike has been run on car engine oil which has a slip agent in it so will mess up the best friction plates in the world. So have been messing around with spacers on the spring new spri…

I will be possibly looking at a fantic 403 monoshock aircooled drum brakes, as a beginner could I get through a few years of trials, and ridding with the locals and maybe at my first couple of events with this bike. Or is it hard to compete with the older bikes and a waste of time and money (tight) should I save for longer and get a newer bike or if it is in good shape go for it? Do any of you compete with your bikes and do OK? Dan

A friend's father has a can-am mono that he might sell. I don't know the year of it. Can anyone one give me any advice when looking at it. He says he has not started it in a couple of yrs. and it has sat most of the last 15-20 yrs. Only starting occasionally. Any problems with the mono can-am's. All I know about them is that they were made by Armstrong in England until 1987 and they had a Rotax motors. I know chassis parts will be difficult to find. Are these bikes competetive with other mono's of the day. Also, what size rotax motors were in these bikes? Thanks for any info you can give me. Cheers, Fergie.

Hi,looking for some advice, The bike started running erratically and lacking any power eventually dieing with no spark at all. I have changed the coil pack and still only sparks intermittently, on pulling the side cover of the left of the bike I noticed a lack of a gasket and that a lot of crap/dirt had got in.l Could this be the cause or does anyone know better? Got one of the lambretta coil packs of ebay on advice from a forum seems okay. I have a yellow wire which isnt connected to anything at the moment. What size flywheel puller do i need i have already got quite a collection but not small enough for this. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
