Hello to all, Well I've rode my first ever trials event and decided to post my experience. January 24,2010 Tishomingo,OK This was a combined effort by NEOTT & TXTC. Gnarly looking stuff and I had the butterflies bad, understand this- until this event I had a total of about 45 minutes experience on a trials bike and none of those minutes on this bike and none of those minutes in the last 3 months. I'm an ex motocrooser that quit riding dirt in 1998, sold all my bikes and bought a Harley. My Harley was stolen in Sept 2009 and I took that as a sign...get back on dirt. I 'borrowed/test rode' a bike for this past weekend and got it to the house on Thursday nite , y…

Yep, that is the word! This possibility has been rocking in the back of my head for awile now. Oh well, wish him the best! Cody is a great guy and so is his dad(Kip). This has probably been difficult for him, and god knows what No Jive will do. May put him permanatly into green riding gear! Waiting on that Ossa!

I received an email this morning from Ryan Young, I think most I know get along well with Cody Webb, I always enjoy being around the Webb family at trials. I think it will be good for the sport in the USA that Cody becomes #1 rider for GG USA, now top two US riders are on different brands, and I'm sure it will spice up the compitition for 2010. From Ryan.> Fellow Sherco team riders, We wanted to let you know that we received a call from Cody Webb today informing me he is going to ride for team Gas Gas this year. Cody had been a top rider with Sherco since 2005 and won two indoor championships for us, he has contributed to the team in more ways than I can count, his…

Do any of you guys know of any decent trials shops in Southern California?! I'm off to stay with my friends again in Fullerton and it would make a change from the VW stores I normally go to and find a trials store! Thanks Steve

I think the date change for the youth nationals west is a good move, I wasn't going to go because of the 2000 mi it added to the trip if you rode the adult events in Colorado and California, then go back out to catch the youth event. "NEWS-- From Bill Markham----Western Youth National date change--the W/Y/Nationals dates have been change to 17-18-19 JULY -- This way any one coming form the west coast will not have to make two trips if they are coming to both the Youth National at Las Vegas, NV and the CO National which is July 24 & 25." Now I can take the kids out to New Mexico, and also catch the adult events on the drive back

My local club uses NATC rules for scoring, much like most clubs in the US, I think. Often I seen riders balanced and in control but their bike stalls and they just sit down and curse and accept a five. Could they have had a clean? Back in the 80's and 90's it would be common for someone to stall, then balance, kickstart and continue without dabbing with no penalty. Now it seems when someone stalls, they just take a 5. Here is the NATC rule: The engine stops while footing or while any other part of the machine, except for the tires, is used for support, without forward motion (The motorcycle must be moving forward while footing with a dead engine to avoid a five (5). …

I know this is a loaded question but I am trying to make a decision on what to go with for a good protection helment. I currently have an older MX style full face but the visor gets in the way of looking down the trail or section so I can only see about 10 or 15 feet in front of me. Taking the visor off helps but it is heavier that the half helments and open face that I see guys using. I tried an older style Bell RT but the design inteferes with the back of my neck and pushes the helment forward into my field of vision when standing and looking down the trail even without the visor. The other option I am considering is the half helment with the soft sides and bac…

So I rode my first Trialscross in Vegas. Man what a work out. Here comes a bunch of whinning. The sad part was I really worked out for this. I have gone to Endurocross for the last 3 years and sat in the stands yelling GO AROUND, PASS HIM, GO GO GO and several other comments. Let me tell you I was exhausted after the qualifer. My forearms were stiff as a rock, my mouth as dry as a cotton ball. But im ready to do it again next year. This event was much harder than I thought. I have no idea how you could ride a motocross bike around the course. The sad part is I made the main event and did not know it. So I missed riding the main event. Here is a Video. Im the one who…

Does anyone read print anymore? Shan recently added Enduro to the title of Trials Comp, and I think the paper looks stronger than ever. Now all the top Enduro fans now can see why the trials guys are so good. Plus us trials guys can read up on all the top Enduro guys. Talk about a Win/Win for us dual sport riders. Well done, Shan. Well done.

After hearing about Eric Storz's accident I've been rethinking my opinion of a full face helmet for trials. I'm mostly concerned about my young nephew who is just starting out in the sport. I saw Eric and some other young riders wearing full face helmets in competition this year but I never thought to find out what kind they were. Does anyone know or have any opinion on this subject?

My son started in trials this year and I am thinking of letting him go down for the camp and the championship. Just wondering what to expect.... Also how easy/hard it is to get onsite lodging (if I send him and his dad and leave with the vehicle....) worth the 18hr drive? Thanks

Would installation of a 1971 swing arm be AHRMA legal on a pre 65 lightweight? I'm planning to install a Bultaco wheel on a C15 but also have the swingarm. It might actually make the swap easier. The rule book mentions frames and engines but says nothing specific about swingarms. I do notice that people modify swingarms and others offer aftermarket arms.

Since not much is happening here on TC I thought I would tell you what we've been up to. Some of our California youth riders got togther and put on a Demo at Beechwood elementry school for Red Ribbon week. The theme was something like "keep balanced in life without using drugs like the kids keep balance on thier bikes". Not sure it helps kids not use drugs, but the students seemed to really enjoy watching the trials bikes. I know our kids had fun riding around the playground. Some of the high lights included Ian Dealnay and Eric Storz bunny hopping over Neil Storz. Then Ian laided down so Neil and Eric could jump over him. The six riders where-Preston Okert age…
