Youth Trials

Anybody tried doing an engine swop so as to avoid the crap twist and go thing? Once my boy has grown a bit more we would like to progress to a proper petrol bike but a medium wheel might be too big for him so I was wondering if I could mod a gasgas boy to a proper multi gear bike?? Any ideas?

I would like the regs to the next Scottish c class championship for the above club. Can't seem to find it on their website, can you help? Sandra

I know there isn't much choice, but what's peoples views on the best of the tyres available for medium wheels?

Consett club have a trial this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday at Bedburn, Wolsingham (see events). On both days there will be a kids route. The club ran a trial there a few weeks ago and it was excellent for kids right from Osets through to the more experienced kids. Banksides, rivers etc

hi next year we are thinking of entering the youth mintex trial at richmond. i was just wandering how hard the trial is? what would i need to change on my bike ''beta 2011 evo 125cc''? and any other tips or help in hand preparing for the event thank in advance

Took my grandson to his first trial on Sunday at Drumcarro-East Neuk of Fife Dabbers venue The club should be congratulated on this absolutely fabulous piece of ground, and for their enthusiasm to extend the lap by acquiring further ground which was used for the first time. Well done!

Hi all. Looking to move my boy up from an Oset onto a petrol bike, mainly because he's outgrowing it fast, also because the hassle of being in the middle of a wood when the batteries run out is p***ing me off! if I go petrol the only option seems to be a beta 50 or 80. I know they don't make the 50 now, so a few questions. 1. Is there any other option bar a beta? 2. Is the 50 with a clutch and 4 speed a proper trials engine as the twist and go versions were little ktm units? am I better going straight to a medium wheel 80? Yes, he's only 7 but he is a big strong lad for his age and towers over his oset 20! Thankyou all!

Consett Club will be holding the next round of their popular Wednesday Night trial this week on the 18th at Knitsley Mill. Running alongside the main trial will be a kids route. Plan for this week is set up a couple of sections just for the kids, to let the trial get underway. We will then move to the main route and either use the easy route, or a modified version of the easy route. Kids seem to enjoy it as they feel part of the 'main trial', and also get to ride the 'big route' !! There isn't going to be one. Beta cannot get any more engines and they are developing a replacement for 2008.

This Sunday 23rd December there will be no TY or Purple route for the kids at the Stanley Trial at Butsfield. The following week (30th) we will be back to nornal with kids routes on.
