Youth Trials

For discussion on the Youth scene in the UK

  1. Started by adsy,

I have just been reading the article about Pat Smage, first time i've read it. Why is he riding a 290 Sherco bike???? Their have been various posts on here regarding this kid, about him possibly riding in the Youth Indoor etc, and about getting a US rider into the WTC. The article also say's he wants to ride some Youth WTC round after his 16th birthday. Surely by riding a 290 he is going to struggle in any Youth WTC rounds where he would have to make the transition to ride a 125!! and similarly in any UK youth champs. Just my thoughts, seen as it seems that you guys in the US are trying hard to find someone good enough to compete at world level, I don't know ho…

Hi guys I'm looking for a helmet for my 4yr old son ... His head size at 55cm is big enough for a S or XS adult lid but I was worried it might be a bit heavy for him ...been looking at the Spada and Wulf lids ... Can anyone recommend a lid that they have used with a child of same age Thanks Phil

My young lad will be moving to a 125 this time next year but I'm already thinking about which direction to take. He's big enough and currently rides an 80 Gas Gas Rookie so is used to the weight and size of a virtually full size bike. But what comes next? Not so much a fan of Beta's, Sherco 125's seem popular but have changed for 2016, same with Scorpa's, who knows about Gas Gas, although I do like them. Any advice or experience gratefully listened to

I'm looking to get my 8yr old son his first bike. I'm keen on an electric bike as I hope he'll get more use of it, due to it being quiet, and I hope he'll take to it better than a bike with a clutch. Can some one please advise the difference between the Beta and the Oset 20. I'd probably go for the Oset Eco, rather than the Racing. Cheers

Hello, I've been researching what bike to get my son. He's 9 and has been doing trials lessons at bumpy (birstall uk) and has been riding an Oset kids bike. He wants to get back into the petrol / gears he started on so ive been researching bike options. That research had brought me here and has been helpful to read other parents posts and questions. Ive been thinking the best bet would be a Beta 80cc. However there are not many juniors about. My question is, are the wheels interchangeable? for example. If I found him a senior 80, could I purchase some junior wheels? I feel he'd out grow a junior fast. Thanks

  10. Started by cubby,

Starting to think about what bike is next for my lad and wanted to hear of any experiences good or bad that you've had moving to a bigger bike. He is currently on a Sherco 50, auto clutch, very good bike and he loves riding it, currently in his first year of D class. He is starting to need something more though, and I'm not sure whether to move to a bike such as a GG Boy, which apparently has better suspension, brakes and more power, or onto maybe a medium wheel bike like a cadet or Beta 50? Don't want to over bike him, and put him off but I'm thinking more along the lines of a medium wheel bike. Any advice would be welcome

Im looking to get my girlfreinds boy a trials bike as hes been showing an interest in my bike. Ive got a tight budget of £500 and the only option for that money as far as i can see is the TY. Dont really want to spend tomuch more until iknow he is properly keen and will pursue it. Will this bike be a good start bike for a 9 year old or will it be to small is my main question? Hes never riden a bike with a clutch before. Hes about a average height for his age but is on the heavy side!!! Any input would be good.

OK so round two of the British youth A/B championships Sunday and i think it's all about who will come second to the JLI Beta UK boy's Challoner & Sheppard. Youth B must have MRS team member Richard Sadler looking to push Sheppard all the way but as for A class, who know's I think that the team Gas Gas UK riders had a Sh*t day at Dod park and will come to Cheadle full of fire & venom and out to make a point. The only twist in the tail is the fact that the Cheadle round has a reputation for being an easy trial and at easy trials mistakes pay dear. Anyway at 10am Sunday the Bull Sh*t will stop, and Five & half hour later we will see who's boss.

Hi All - I'm a new boy, well Dad actually. I'm having a few problems getting my lad started in trials. I have all the gear, bike, trailer etc but nowhere to go. My boy cannot actually ride as yet so what I need is a big flat grass field for him to get used to the bike before we can enter anything. We can get no help from our council as we are considered a nuisence rather than a sport. Does anyone know of such a place we can go local to Chorley in Lancashire please? It does need to be grass though. Thanks - Jim

Hi, Can anyone tell me what year the Beta Rev 80 changed from a grey frame to a black frame?

  17. Started by jonty,

Just had entry for Cheadle A&B round on March 5th returned with letter saying the event is cancelled due to lack of entries. With 10 days to go before the advertised entry closure this seems a bit premature surely.

Just back from Richmond where NYL "cramped up" on final lap so failed to finish. However we believe Jack Challoner took A Class victory (nice one "JC"), and Alex Wigg came in third. Jonathan Richardson took the B class win.
