The opening day of the FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) held in Kotka, Finland, delivered plenty of surprises with heavy overnight rain making for a much tougher than expected day for the three hundred and sixty-one starting riders. For host nation Finland it was a day of highs and lows as their six rider World Trophy team claimed a commanding class lead, while their Junior Trophy team suffered two retirements, which dropped them to the very bottom of the class results. With heavy rain during the early stages of the day, adding to an already badly cut up course and special tests, resulted in yet more big name retirements and another dominant performance from World Trophy team leaders Finland. I have just aquired a 1970 bultaco matador prototype mk4 sd ,one of 25 built for the isdt in el escorial in Spain in 1970 , this bike was ridden by a belgian called Jean crossett . It was then bought from fx bulto himself by WI (Ivor) Smart of Wrexham after he followed it in the 1970 event in el escorial . Ivor then rode it in the 1971 event in the Isle of man winning a gold medal in the process ,he rode it in a few events afterwards and then stored it for 30 odd years . Well with all of the trials bikes prepped and sorted, the latest project to hit the workshop for covid19 project is a 1977 IT 175! Couple of questions ... 1 - both mudguards are good condition but very faded - what’s the best bet to paint ? And does anyone know the colour code ? 2 - long shot but does anyone have an airbox cover and filter cage ? (Or know where I could get them) 3 - piston and barrel look ok but seems low compression ? Was going to put a set of rings in as it’s not blowing past the rings - I can get nos rings - but will 40+ year old rings be brittle ? Better bet some pattern ones ? mid new pattern ones might as well get piston kit…

Graham Jarvis has won Xtinction, Canadas only, and toughest extreme enduro. It was held in the Alberta badlands in one of the coolest places you could ever ride. Not trying to promote other websites on here, but there is some video and pictures on www.offroadmotorcycles.ca and a picture of Graham holding his cheque for $5000. Not bad for a days riding. This event is well attended by all the top riders in US and Canada and is gaining popularity for sure!

I just found one of these so cheap I had to take it. Going to pick it up at lunchtime today because I don't want it to get away. Anybody have one? This one's a '97, which is the same model that went to about '04. I'll likely sort it out and give it to my son for Christmas.

Hi all This will probably open up a can of worms but I am up for a good argument. After hearing the news that David Knight has won the Last Man standing for the second time in a row with Wayne Braybrook second. I was wondering if he could be considered the best enduro rider at the moment and maybe the best of all. It is clear that Stephan Merriman and the Edmondson brothers are very fast. Hell I would call them extremely fast as well as many others in the WEC but no one seems to be on par with David Knight. To this extent I am now sure that there are a few followers of the GNCC who are a bit worried that Knight will come over and do a whitewash of it all. Providing he c…

Can some one with a little more knowledge than me regarding bike values help. I have been offered a 1999 ktm 300 cc the guy is looking to move back to the uk, the bike is in France and he is selling a lot of is gear before the move. He has asked me to make him a sensible offer. The bike is in good condition, has has been well looked after, can someone please advise me on a ball park figure so neither of us is dissapointed. Enduro News It is reported on the Enduro News website that KTM are pulling out of the Paris - Dakar, due to the new rules limiting the engine sizes to a max 450cc. Seems a very strange decision for the organisers, after all the image that springs to mind for the Dakar is Comas and Despres on the KTM 690 Rally Bikes.
