12th & 13th sept. Can anybody who just rode the Nostalgia tell me how the Standard & Easy routes in the Cumberland compare with the Easy & Hard routes of Saturdays trial ? Also how big is the lap, and are they more straight forward sections ? Thanks Ross

  2. Hi, I'm new to this forum and new to trials in general. I am looking at getting into the sport. However, there is one big problem: I live in China. A country which is definitely not known for its Trials motorcycles. Importing japanese bikes is out of the question and classic trials can't be found anywhere. The option I've been looking at is to buy a vintage scrambler motorcycle that are common here. Usually custom made. One example: Most of the bikes include a choice of either 125/150/200/ 250cc engine, with a vast selection of gearing options available. Trials tyres are available for all rim sizes and the bikes can be modified in many different …

I was lucky to purchase 2 Dalesmans at the weekend with a load of spares to go with them. First thing is; Along with the spares was a folder which has a Puch engine manual in it with full parts list and numbers, exploded diagrams and some other litarature. Second thing; one of the petrol tanks is the fibreglass tank/seat unit. How do you think this will cope with todays petrol? Trevor

Just acquired a Dalesman, does anyone know how the swinging arm releases? I have removed the near side but with threaded spindle but the other side won’t budge. Not sure if it’s threaded or just needs a drift to get it out. also does anyone knywhere the frame number is? does anyone have a manual or handbook? thanks Dow

I'm still restoring my late model Dalesman trials (circa. 1973 - the one with the Sachs engine). Does anyone have photos showing the original design of both the chainguard & the chain tensioner ...... or even better, have spare ones for sale? Also trying to find front & rear black 'VF' mudguards. Have attached the only good photo I've found of this model of trials bike but any others would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi all, this is my early Dalesman. My best Google image searching has not found another with the same standard forks and the rear brake/peg arrangement that mine has. Is it just a really early one? Can anyone recommend any upgrades? Front forks are very stiff with little travel, which probably isn't ideal. Don't want to do anything to loose its charm, but could do with it being a bit less hard work.

I know it must be difficult when fixing dates due to so many fixtures now and different organising bodies involved, but there are three date clashes for two of the main Pre65 road based series this year. The Miller championship and the Northern British Bike series. Both have events on 24th March, 14th July and 13th October. Both of the events on the 14th July are in Yorkshire so that is going to hit one series badly in terms of Pre65 entries. The Miller series is down to 7 rounds this year and for the life of me I can't understand why it isn't better supported by Pre65 entries, especially when you see the number of entries for Scotland. Two routes to choose from means a…

My SWM has a working decompresser, so far I've been using it as an aid when kicking starting her by engaging whilst kicking thereby making life much easier, also I kick her thru whilst operating the decompressor to prime her when cold, and lastly to stop her. Now I'm fairly sure the decompressor is also there to help on hill decents but I'm not sure why, when and how to use, be grateful for advice. cheers as always for any help

is anyone here using a Delorto carb phb 25 or 26 on a Bantam ?? Just wondering what jet sizes you are using. I have had it bored to 186cc with a Suzuki piston. Have tried a 25 which was off a Fantic 200 , it may be past its best, started okay but didn't run too well when warm, also a 26 which I believe was off a Gasser, the jets are the same ?? again starts okay, may run a bit better. Not able to take the bike out yet just getting sorted. Thanks in advance.

Hi Guy's Now Alan Whitton, is putting together a very special group of Works DOT and Greeves bikes, and riders, for a demonstration ride and photo session, at the Classic Trials Show. The Dot boy's coming along, reads like a part of the sixties trials history, but we could do with a couple more ex Greeves works riders to take part, and "Jonah" was one for a short while. So do you know where he is, he left a message on a trials web site twelve months ago. Regards Charlie.

Just had the results through for last weekends Derbyshire Dales Trial. There appears to have been some manipulating of the results with regard to time penaltys. I say manipulating because what can't speak can't lie ! How can someone who was nearly an hour late (as per the calculation taken from his punch card) have no penaltys in the published results ? Especially after time penaltys were initally entered on the score board and the words excluded also entered by the side of his name on the day ? What is the point in people traveling from all over the UK & rushing round, when such blatant flouting of the rules occurs for certain "local" people ? Then to be told th…

Hi, i have just bought a 1955 DMW trials/scrambler and have no information on the DMW marque. I have searched the internet but hardly found any information. I have also rang up norton villiers but they are of no help either. Does anyone have any information on these bikes or know where i can get it? Pictures would be great along with info on an owners club? Cheers, steve.

  20. Hi All, I'm looking for some information on what is believed to be a Cheetah Trials bike fitted with with a Greeves headed, Villiers Engine. We recently acquired it from a man looking to sell off his late fathers collection. Me and my father are normally Bantam tinkerers by default but couldn't pass up on the opportunity to purchase what we originally believed to be a Greeves Anglian or something similar.I was wondering if anyone has ever owned one, ridden one, seen one in action or just knows a bit more about the brand than me. It was fitted with a battered metal tank with no badging, leading to the initial confusion but a spare fiberglass tank with Cheetah hand painte…
