What is reconed to be the best product to line a leaking steel fuel tank? I have soldered all the leaks and tested it under pressure. However, I suspect that it won't be too long before other leaks develop. Thanks in anticipation

Hi guys, I'm tearing my hair out here ! Have a 77 Ossa MAR 250 which won't rev out. I've tried everything plugs , carburetion , cleaned the exhaust, sent the Motoplat unit away to Spain for repair and testing. Engine is totally rebuilt on new seals and bearings. Everything in tip top condition , but it will only run cleanly to about 3/4 throttle and then misfires and won't rev out. Any ideas ? Cheers.

  7. Hello All, I've recently acquired a James Cotswold Scrambler which was raced in Southern California in the late 50's. The engine is a 7e Villiers unit and is missing most of the clutch side components. I was wondering what the best options are for a clutch in a trials conversion. I have seen the 9E multi plate used with slight modification and have even heard of a modern alternative. I look forward to your thoughts. Cheers, Ben

Do people ride the early Challengers in Classic Trials? They were a light 250 bike in their time, and with a big sprocket, I was wondering how they might work with that leading link front suspension. Bars might be a bit wide, but that can be changed. Greeves may have built a better Trials bike in 1964, but the Challenger seems like it could be good... with a few changes. What do you guys think? Thanks

Has anyone managed to fit a belt drive primary to an AJS M16? I'm looking at trying to fit a Bob Newby product but not sure that the width of the cover is large enough to take the belt. Does anyone know where I might get a slightly wider cover? Are there any other products out there for this conversion to the M16? Thanks

As we've left it a bit late to book the ferry ( For various reasons) - We have only been able to book foot passenger tickets. I am looking to try and see if anyone has space for a couple of Bikes on the Ferry from Heysham to Douglas on Friday 30th August 14-15 sailing. and also on the return on Monday 2nd September Douglas to Heysham 08-45. We will be more than happy to share some of the costs .... Other than that you'll see two Blokes heading to the Bar with a 247 Montesa and a BSA C15 in their Hand Luggage !!! Any help would be appreciated... Thanks in advance... The Wobbler (And Leeroy who can't use a computer !!!)

  12. Started by stefanop,

Dear friends, I have just bought a classic Cota 247 that has been badly 'reworked' by its previous owners. Never mind, it has its papers and a registration number, a rare thing in Italy where most classic trial bikes have been taken off the road to avoid paying taxes and thus cannot be re-registered (Crazy, uh?) I've asked the guys who restore my classic cars to take it apart to restore it, but I'm not sure if this engine has to be black...The bike is a 1980 (?) Cota 247, the engine number is 21M2*** but I never saw any 247 of those years with a black engine; my other Cota has its engine in its usual polished metal finish. Is it possible that the 'black' engine has b…

after getting savaged by a rottweiler on Sunday, some of my humour about riding trials had left me, but after putting this clip together in the office today it renewed my faith This is why I ended up swimming in the stream on section 4 yesterday, laughing. A few people in the office heard Dale's commentary, came over for a look and also were rather interested, more in the falling off than the sport, but could see what fun it is. Ah well, feel better now.

Does anyone know if inner tubes have a shelf life? I’ve just found a few new boxed ones from the 90’s are they any good? They look ok, boxes are a bit tatty!

Has anyone done any long distance trials such as the Moor to Sea and the Ilkley Trial? I fancy a go at something a bit different. If so what sort of bike would be suitable? A pre 65,a twinshock or even a modern enduro type bike? What sort of bikes are popular in these events and are the trials any good? Any thoughts/comments welcomed.

  17. Started by guinnessdave,

I'm going to try classic trials on my new to me TY250. How wide is too wide? I just got a great pair from a friend that are 34.75" wide. that seems pretty wide, but, they have a shape I like. I can't cut them down much because of the narrow grip area. Thanks for your thoughts, I'm brand new to this.

I want to rebuild the wheels on a Honda TL 125 (150cc SM conversion), in a Sammy Miller High Boy frame, whose chrome (nickel?) plating is mostly still in excellent condition. Going to do it myself, along with many other jobs including patching the fuel tank and replacing the kick start ratchet mechanism, as necessary. I also want to polish all the alloy bits, including the hubs. Stainless or standard spokes? The cost seems to be at least double for stainless. It will be ridden in Classic trials a few times a year. Any thoughts?
