hi all, I have a set of gears for a f/b amc , my dad had many years ago a f/b scrambler which he converted to trials spec , he sold the bike but cant remember if he changed the gears back, as all this happened before I was born I am completely in the dark, he thinks he kept the trials gears so can anyone tell me which is which. the cogs have 14 . 18 . 24 . 24 32 . 27 . 22 . 18 teeth I don't know if this is the correct order as they have been loose in a tin full of oil for over 50 years , I would like to sell them but cant advertise them till I know if they are scrambles or trials , thankyou in advance

Hi Guys I have recently purchased on ebay ( 1.85 x 21 Inch ) Front RIM with 40 holes. it looks bit more wider then i expected. looks more like rear wheel should i use it or it will look awkward/unusual . ? what do you suggest ? i want to use it for RE Bullet or DOT trials bike Thanks & Regards

Hi I am new to the forum but have been reading the posts while searching for a sherpa to get myself acquainted with the bikes I have acquired a 1973 sherpa 350, It ticks over and starts fine andI can cruise around the garden on ticover or a little throttle but when I try to give it a 'blast' it just dies I have had the fuel tap out, all ok and the carb apart all looks ok, the pilot jet needing cleaning but I put it back tiogether and the problem is the same. If i tickle the carb with the plunger and then gas it it goes fine so it looks like fuel starvation but i dont knoe where to go next One thing when I unblocked the pilot jet i tried to blow into the hole it came ou…

I have bought a new fuel tank, with a screw on aluminium cap. However, it came with no gasket to go between the cap and tank. The original tank has a gasket, which looks like silver card. What material to use to make a disc about 43mm diameter, 3mm thick? Thought about using part of a wellington boot. Ideas? Thanks in anticipation.

Hallo my Name is Thorsten i come from Germany. A few weeks ago i bought a Garelli 320 in italy. The engine runs bad. I bought some parts for the carburator new. The main jet was 100 The pilot jet was 50 The needle was X21 The nozzle was CX 270 (this part comes from Dellorto directly) Does enybody of you know what parts are regulary in the carburator? I need some other information. What spark plug is right? Now i put a Campion N 12 from my SWM inside. What is the inigtion timing? What kind of Oil comes in the Transmission ? In my SWM is automatic Oil. I hope i become information and it is possible for me to restore this funny bike. Thank you

Hi I have an old '72 XL250 that I'm thinking of building into a trials bike, similar to the Jefferies bike. Any thoughts on how the head angle was steepened? Im favouring heat bending the top tube but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance Mart

Hi, I just joined up. I have restored two Suzuki TC120'S. A 69 one and a 71 one. I was quite fasinated to read the information about the Peter Gaunt ones and others. Having played about in the rough and in woods on the normal TC I was well impressed, I would love to play about on a trials version. Even sat down on the little TC it pulls well in low ratio and climbs well. I would like to build one and have a chat and pick the brains of someone who has one or knows about them. I have kind of read all I can find on the net. Specifically, do you need the T200 triple tree as well as the forks?, or is it the b120 tree. Also I believe there are alternatives. I tried…

Does anyone here know why when the Japanese started to produce bikes they chose to put the gear lever on the left instead of the right which was the norm on the Brit bikes at the time. I know it's not strictly a trials question as it covers road as well . Was there a reason for it I wonder ?? I will delete this topic if I can fathom it out. Thanks in advance. I' am "fiddeling" with gearing of my bike (Aprilia TXR) to find the ratio that fit's to my riding /personal taste. First try was: 42 rear + 12 front which was to high, 42 rear + 11 front was too slow, 42/12 = 3.50 42/11 = 3.82 Now there are two possibilities: 40/11 = 3.63 44/12 = 3.74 (with a half link) Which won to choose: a smaller rear sprocket won't be hit so easy accidentally then a bigger one. Then again a 11 teeth front sprocket will wear faster is difficult to get thus expensive compared to a 12 teeth. What would you choose or any better ratios?
